Tried Feng Hot Pot recently and really enjoyed it overall. We got the medium spicy broth, which turned out pretty spicy for me, but super flavorful and hard to stop eating. The mushroom broth was a great balance--rich, comforting, and perfect for veggies. The brown sugar sticky rice cakes were a highlight--crispy outside, soft and chewy inside, with just the right sweetness. Definitely wish we ordered more. Duck intestines were fresh and stayed surprisingly crunchy even after cooking a bit too long. The spicy chicken gizzards were tender and well seasoned. I also liked the double pepper beef--the green peppers added a nice fresh kick. The only thing I wouldn't reorder is the bamboo fungus with shrimp --it was a bit loose compared to regular shrimp handmade ball. I prefer order handmade shrimp ball. Overall, great flavors and a solid hot pot spot. I'd come back to try more. read more

We came here on a Thursday in the late afternoon. There was only one other customer, so we had the place to ourselves. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the decor inside was cozy and relaxing. We tried the double soup broth (medium spicy) and non-spicy pork bone broth. The bone broth was excellent (no MSG either), which I enjoyed. My wife had the medium spicy, which she said was incredibly spicy. She is certainly used to spicy Asian dishes, being Chinese herself, but this one was too much, she said. And it was only the medium! So beware if you are feeling ambitious. Maybe get it a little less spicy than you think you can handle. However, the staff did warn us about the spice level, so I thank them for that. Heed their warning! Unfortunately, that is where the positive experience really ends for me. First, it is not an all-you-can-eat type of place. You pay for each dish separately. But that eventually ends up being more than you would pay at comparable all-you-can-eat hot pot places in the area. Plus, this restaurant also charges for the sauce bar. I'd rather they just include it with the overall price, instead of being reminded of how much we're overspending on every single thing. But the deal breaker here is really the cleanliness. The dishes are not thoroughly washed. Every bowl, plate, and glass was greasy. Even some of the chopsticks still had dried bits of food on them. When I brought this up to two different workers, they explained that they have been having a problem with the dishwasher (a person, not a machine) and that, despite repeated complaints to management, that individual remains. So that being said, I don't think I'll be returning here. Which is a shame, because this spot really has potential. And it's in a great location too. read more

Walked by Feng Hotpot last weekend and decided to give it a try. It's about 10 minutes walk from Chinatown. Inside is pretty spacious and clean (they have dining area on the second floor as well). We were able to get seated promptly and the server is friendly and checks in frequently. Hotpot wise, pretty standard, you can mix your own dipping sauce (about $2 per person, which is kind of strange since usually these are included); there are a lot of hotpot choices from soup base to various ingredients; all seems pretty fresh. Being a szechuan style hotpot, some of the dipping sauce and soup base are pretty spicy, so try with caution. read more

Great Chinese hotpot with delicious broth and high quality ingredients. We ordered tomato and spicy (mild) beef tallow broth. Tomato broth is a little on the thicker side but it tastes delicious. The spicy broth at mild level is quite spicy imo but not to my friends lol. They have duck intestine here, which is not common to find in a typical hotpot place. For beef, we tried beef chuck, beef tongue, and tender beef (this one you can cook it long in the broth and it would still be tender) and they are all good. The beef meatball w cilantro is also yummy with tendon in it. For appetizer, I like the deep fried pork but not the braised tofu. You also get free tea if you post about them on social media. Price is pretty reasonable. I highly recommend making a reservation because the place is kinda small. read more

alright, so, as a chinese person I am incredibly picky with my hotpot locations and I generally prefer to eat it at home. However, I would definitely go to Feng if I were feeling lazy and didn't want to procur all of the ingredients. I'm Asian so I'm picky about hot pot. This place is amazing. The broth is so good, probably the best on the east coast - and I've had hot pot in DC, Baltimore, Philly, New York, and Boston. The meat is fresh, and the ingredients impeccable. The sauce bar is on point. The fried rice is real - you can taste the wok freshness, and the beef balls are real with pickled veggies. My only quibble is the price - it is fairly pricey to eat here, but you know what? I'm tired of trying to justify why ethnic food should be cheap. Why should it? Overall, the food was OK and the meats were fresh, the reason why I'm giving only two stars is because we kept finding INSECTS in our unwashed vegetables, got two new replacement veggies, and we saw bright green little caterpillars and fruit flies. Honestly working in the kitchen, it is common to find bugs like that, but a creepy crawler just crawling through my Napa cabbage was not in a good sight. Wow this was phenomenal!! This is a new hot pot place that recently opened up, and it is so so good. They have such an incredible variety of ingredients and everything is so fresh! Such a fan of the Lobster balls. They also have a great selection of soup bases, and both were delicious! The spicy one we did at the lowest spice level, which was quite hot. To all the people complaining about broth being oily, I just want to say, please google what tallow is before you order. You are literally ordering a broth that translates to "beef oil" and you complain about it being oily. Make it make sense. This is obviously the best hot pot place in Philly and there is no comparison even though I like some of the other options. This is pretty on par with what you would actually get in China, as some other commenters have mentioned. If you are used to Americanized hot pot, maybe this spot is not for you, but if you come in with open mind and open stomach, this is THE spot. read more

Beware: this new hotpot spot can get super expensive -- with a bill that adds up FAST. This is not All You Can Eat at a set price. There are separate base charges for EACH person for a) your soup base AND b) access to the sauce bar. I have never seen a spot charge each diner individually what essentially is a cover charge for sauces and broth...which are the foundational elements of a hot pot restaurant! I'm surprised there wasn't a charge for silverware. These charges were not explained well by staff when we started. After you select a soup base and initial items, you're handed an iPad to further order. This was neat and a great way to make ordering easier. But imagine our surprise when we were handed our iPad and saw a ton of charges already on there. Not an ideal way to begin. Then, meat, veggies, rice, etc are all a-la-carte. With quality meats in the high teens and 20s, your bill can balloon quickly. Our broth ordering experience started off odd, too. We wanted a split soup base of mild house spicy and medium house spicy. Our server had to ask the owner if this would be allowed and was apparently told that we couldn't do two house broths in the same pot even at two different spice levels. We asked our server why and he shrugged that the owner decreed it and he has no good explanation. Weird. Overall, the food was not bad -- but nothing to call home about. It was just not that special for such a high price tag. Chubby Cattle and Kung Fu Hotpot in Chinatown are far better in meat and broth quality, as well as value and price (and they are AYCE!). Jamon, the Japanese BBQ precursor to this spot, was a much better concept. Ambiance wise, I feel like this spot took a step back from Jamon as well. The lights were extremely bright and the space lacked character and vibrancy. If Feng moves to a better pricing model and improves as it matures, I'll happily come back for a second look. I wish them luck as they open fully and find their footing. Lots of potential. But not a great first impression. read more

Location can't be beat. In the heart of the city. 1. Food quality was amazing. Great meats and soup base were very flavorful. A ton of choices to choose from. Many items on the menu you couldn't get from other hotpot places 2. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. All staff worked as a team to help make the dining experience wonderful. The iPad for ordering makes everything easy if you wanted to change or add additional dishes. 3. This hotpot restaurant isn't all-you-can-eat and the staff did let us know before ordering. Given that it wasn't all-you-can-eat, there is a big difference in how fresh and tasty the food is here. 4. I orders the spicy beef flavor broth, but instead I got a very oily broth that was about half of the hotpot. I had to scoop out the oil from the broth to finally enjoy the flavor. The amount of oil in the spicy broth is ridiculous. The portion of sliced meat was too bad. Even at other hotspot place they don't have this much. The branch in New York was probably better compare to this one. Pricing was fair for what we ordered, and the Staff/services wasn't bad either. Our server was very patient as well as on point. I really enjoyed my experience at feng hotpot...I've never been before but it was quite fun getting to experiment with different sauces at the sauce bar along with the different mead and vegetables. I LOVED the chuck beef roast along with traditional beef stripe. I highly recommend and will be coming back to this cute neighborhood spot. read more

This isn't my first hotpot place but this place was lacking in flavor. My spicy broth wasn't spicy but really just oil. And the portion of the sliced meat was very little. Pricing wise I would say not too bad. It's their soft opening so I guess there's still a lot more work to be done. The server were great.
