    Fried bread stick
    Angel P.

We were quickly seated on a packed Saturday afternoon. We ordered the soybean milk (large), fried bread stick, sliced beef & tripe in hot chili oil and lamb stew noodle soup. The sliced beef & tripe in hot chili oil was pretty good. The star of the show was the lamb stew noodle. The portion is huge and very well priced. The noodles and broth were great. The soybean milk and fried bread stick are on the breakfast menu and we got them in the afternoon: the fried bread stick was not great as it seemed like it has been sitting out for a bit after being fried this morning. The soybean milk was ok, but it seemed like it was a bit burnt/overcooked. You definitely only come here for the food, and not much for the atmosphere. If you come as a solo diner or party of 2, you might be seated with someone else/another small party. They take credit cards (min. $10; no processing fee).

I enjoyed a meal here. I had the Chinese hamburger and the sautéed string beans. Very generous portion. Had to spend over $10 to use a credit card which was fine. Service was fine-had to go to the counter to ask for a box.

You get what you pay for, and in this case you get a lot for cheap. This was a hefty bowl of noodles with a delicious broth for around $9. I cannot emphasize enough how shocked I was that I got THIS much noodle for the price point. Finding the beef slices was also like a treasure chest-- every time I thought I'd finished eating the beef, I'd discover more beef pieces in the soup, which is just ideal ya know? I was so surprised by the mixed reviews-- definitely the service is lacking, but this isn't a service type of place. You come in, get quick service with warm food, and you're out. The service doesn't need to be great in order for this to be an amazing meal. What I will say is that it smelled slightly of toilet the entire time we were sitting down, but you get used to it and then you just vibe. Also, I saw a few reviews say they don't take credit, but they do!!

Came on a whim for lunch with my friend and was not disappointed! Definitely a more authentic noodle joint (not so much a place you would go to get American Chinese food like orange chicken). The portions are so big yet so affordable. I got the classic beef noodle soup, which came with a generous portion of beef and noodle. Perfect for a cold day. The service was also so quick and friendly; my friend and I were sat right away even though the restaurant was full, and the staff spoke Chinese to us which I love. Highly recommend for a quick and cheap meal!

I love here because cheaper than most place and my opinion Improved taste of meat and soup. But receipt came out $10 for noodle. Not $8.50 that is on menu price. Understand little higher ( many place not making new menu but some are)Other place said it's old one then after few month they change menu ... but not here?? I didn't ask why different but May be next time I will . But I found review some people said double tip!! I came here with my partner never like this. Veg and meat bun also expensive than I was expected. $6 for 4 small buns. Little disappointed. But I will back though. Improving soup and meat. But May be another place?

I came here on a whim with a friend. The service was very friendly and everything came out fast. I'm disappointed with the brisket noodle soup. The noodle itself was made well. The broth was too fatty and could use more flavor. The spicy chicken feet was not tasty and has a weird taste and smell to them. The space overall, doesn't look clean. The low lit light doesn't help either. My friend's food could of came out hotter, temperature wise. I don't think , I will be back.

This place is fantastic! I've come here twice already in the last week because it has a noodle soup that is just so yummy and worth. I really enjoy the broth, bok choys, and meat together. I would agree that service here isn't the best, especially if they're busy. Regardless, I would definitely recommend going here if you're ever craving a hearty noodle soup that will fill you up and warm you up.

Food: This spot is an underdog for beef noodle soups in Chinatown. For $8 a bowl, it's def one of the most value options you can get in chinatown. The beef brisket noodle soup and spare rib were both pretty good. Its the same broth i'm pretty sure just with different meat options. I like that they provide chili oil and vinegar to adjust to my taste. I would probably pass on the scallion pancake. It was a bit dough-y for me. Beef brisket noodle soup: 4/5 spare rib noodle soup: 4/5 scallion pancake: 3/5 Ambiance: The inside has a good amount of seating. There's these interesting lighting fixtures that you see at a lot of chinese restaurants from the 90s. Service: There is a $10 card minimum.

I LOVE noodle soups, and Lanzhou's noodle soups are the star of the show! The broth is rich, tasty, and authentic. Amount of noodles is very generous, but I did with they had more meat. Still, the meal was filling and homey -- definitely hits the spot, and all for less than $9! Even though they're located right at the corner of the Chinatown gate, I had no clue this place existed. Unfortunately, I think they're overshadowed by the popularity if NanZhou Noodle House, but I actually prefer how LanZhou makes their noodle soup (although they have more limited options, LanZhou's broth and noodles are better in my opinion). I think a house special noodle soup with a combination of their meats listed would really be a great addition to LanZhou's menu. Their seating is meant for groups of 4+, so if you come alone or with a date, be prepared to be seated at a larger table. Not uncommon for some Chinese restaurants! Service was okay, but you're not here for the service but for the food. They accept credit card for any meal over $10.

The food is really good, the noodle were nice and bouncy. I also got the bao to go at the register and those were good as well. The people are nice and quick with the food. The place is kind of dark and has the menu on its wall, but that's when you know a place is legit.

Lazy Sunday after an unsuccessful Memorial Day beach weekend. It was cold and rainy all weekend but…read morewe decided to hit up some beef noodle soup place to warm up. On this cold almost summer day, Nan Zhou was hustling and bustling. Separate parties at the same round table and clients coming in and out of the restaurant facade. Warm lighting and active banter. I received my bowl of beef noodle soup was pretty satisfied. Beef was tender with flavorful bites of fattiness. Somehow, the meat tastes beefier than beef. The cilantro had potent herbaceous flavor with some spinach(?) and mustard greens. Noodles were pleasantly chewy w variation in texture. Lowkey, everything else was alright. I like to be nice so I'll say no more. Cucumbers were fine

This place was packed, which is always a good sign, and even with that the staff stayed super prompt and professional. The house special was my favorite. I got it with the knife-cut noodles and it was perfect with the broth. The noodles had that slightly uneven, chewy texture that really holds onto the soup. I never thought I'd be the type to talk about "mouthfeel" but here we are. The broth itself was rich and savory with a deep beef flavor, a little bit of oil on top that adds body without feeling too heavy. It's that classic, comforting Chinese beef noodle soup done really well. I added a braised egg, which had great flavor soaked into it, though it was served cold, which threw me off a bit. The mapo tofu with noodles was also really solid. It had that signature spicy, numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with a savory, slightly salty sauce. The tofu was soft and silky, and mixing it with the noodles made it extra satisfying. It's got some heat but not overwhelming, just enough to keep you going back for another bite. The shrimp stir fry was lighter but still flavorful. The shrimp were cooked well, tender with a slight snap, and the sauce leaned more on the savory side with a mild sweetness. It felt like a nice balance alongside the heavier noodle dishes. Couple practical things: it's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the seating area which makes it easy. And the portions are generous for the price, so it feels like a really good deal. Overall, super satisfying spot. Busy, a little chaotic, but the food absolutely delivers. Definitely a go-to if you're craving hand-pulled noodles.

The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Some other favorites were the black pepper chicken and the long hot chicken, if you enjoy spice. We had the ginger and scallion dish and was not our favorite, as the chicken had a unique consistency and was quite limp. Overall, good service and a relaxing ambiance in a bustling city.

ATMOSPHERE: Intimate spot with a small loft, soft music and big windows for people watching. Takeout and deliveries seemed to be the majority of the business. RESERVATIONS: Not needed on this particular Monday night. PARKING: Street or garage. MENU: Sichuan & Taiwanese dishes. No dim sum. BEVERAGE: Lychee Martini Perfectly chilled and balanced, complete with a whole lychee garnish. FOOD: Dan Dan Noodles We got it plain but proteins were available. Thicker noodles coated in a thick peanut-flavored sauce with a little kick of heat. Very good but I'd definitely add either chicken or tofu to break up the carbs. Dry Pot Dish Served in a steel wok, we opted for chicken which was super tender. Very flavorful dish but it wasn't presented sizzling as the menu stated. Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup If you're a ramen fan and want something different, I think you'll love this as much as I did. A generous amount of thick noodles (available hand-ripped flat noodles are a $1 option), chunky slices of tender and fatty beef swimming in a savory and slightly sour dark-hued broth. Forgot to nix the cilantro but it wasn't overly loaded. Total yum. SERVICE: Greeting was immediate and friendly. Male server was knowledgeable but there was no follow up. OVERALL: A very enjoyable alternative to traditional Asian cuisine.

The duck was small and a bit dry and not very flavorful. The curry was runny and thin so it slid off of the veggies and duck. The pad Thai was honestly quite small and tasted like any pad thai you could order at any random restaurant and it was also just vaguely dry. My biggest grievances with this place was the ambiance. I feel like they wanted to fit as many tables as they physically could in that building and boy did they. The tables are so close together and so tiny. We had and I'm not exaggerating under 3 inches between us and the table next to us and we were on the wall with booths on one half. The poor women go got seated next to us had to move her table on top of the table on her other side and squeeze between ours and hers just to get into the booth. And even then it was tight so her butt ended up on our table and I felt bad because she looked so embarrassed and apologized but there was nothing she could do. The silverware is ridiculously long for the small table they give you. We did not have room to comfortably fit 2 entrees on the table with our drinks and our forks and our silverware and our small plates. We also had a reservation, and our table wasn't ready and there was no waiting area. They didn't have an estimate of when it would be ready so they sent us out. We walked around for 15-20 minutes before they were able to seat us. They also had music playing not quietly and because of the proximity of all of the tables everyone was kind of talking loud to be able to hear each other. It felt more like a bar than a sit down restaurant. There are so many Thai places just within a block of grandmas I could not understand why someone would choose to wait there rather than go to Chatayee or Dara. I think this place is catered to look cool on Instagram and if that's your goal then you'll be quite happy.
