Extremely casual and you can't go wrong with all you can eat. I was confused where to find the soy sauce but it's part of the sauces and fruit situated in the back where the skewers are found. The service is prompt and friendly. My only suggestion is to offer an individual pot per person as an option. read more

We came here on a Monday evening and there was no wait! There is a ton of different options for things to put in the hot pot (mushrooms, tofu, skewers, veggies, noodles, etc) and non alcoholic drinks are included in the AYCE. We ate a ton of food and stayed for a really long time and enjoyed our time! The inside is pretty big and the bathrooms are clean. read more

Chinese New Year group, first time trying this spot -- but I've had MLBB in other cities if it's the chain... I give this 4 star. It's decent AYCE. Not my first choice of hotpot spots nearby but admittedly it is distinct so given the right tradeoffs it can be the right choice. It's a massive space. They do skewers and are presentation-wise more "luxury". They have some unique offerings but the best distinction are the hot side orders -- all of them were decent but we really enjoyed the brown sugar rice cake as an incredible dessert. Was able to stop in here and try their hot pot. There is a separate front section for seating as you walk in, but I recommend sitting in the back if you can as you'll be closer to the serving area for items and skewers. The hot pot itself is a bit lower in the table than other spots, and you only get a ladle without tongs. The skewers were interesting and could be good if you're newer to hot pot. The selection was overall pretty good with lots of standard items you will want in your broth. Different pieces of meat, fish, pork, etc. and many veggies. I prefer a buffet style where you can take as you need rather than the serving bowls. Overall it is fairly good with a few quirks mentioned. I am obsessed with this place and will definitely be revisiting on cold nights in the future! There are so many toppings to try out and the sauce stations have everything you could possibly want. The traditional spicy broth had quite a kick so we asked for the most mild version along with the pork bone broth so that we could try both a spicy and non spicy broth. Staff was super friendly and cleaned up used containers quickly and often. Also I loved the rectangular bowls--they are perfect for eating hot pot. I also didn't get to take a picture of it but the crispy pork (order it directly with wait staff) is so so good as well. read more

Was excited to check out this new hotpot place. Overall, it was a fine experience but I do think they have some kinks to work out. To start with the positives: There are a LOT of skewer options and they're so easy to grab for the table. Good mixture of classic beef options with some interesting prepared beef/vegetable skewers. And lots of non-meat options and easy to grab noodle dishes, as well. They're pretty attentive at refilling this. The sauce bar is good, pretty standard but I was able to make a pretty tasty sauce I was proud of. The two meat options to order were fine-pretty standard (1 beef cut & 1 lamb cut). There certainly aren't as many cuts as other places (the skewer beef really isn't the same as slices of beef at traditional hot pot locations) but you can certainly get your full for a reasonable weekday price. And the two broths we got were fair: the mushroom and traditional spicy (it is much spicier than I anticipated). Shout out to the fried lobster roll skewer as this was a really surprise. Some other things need a bit of work. There was a tiny wait but I'm not sure why as half of the restaurant was empty. There was seemingly one waitress for the four/five tables in the back where we were and it took a lot of work to get her attention for things like a ladle, water, or more napkins. Also, the ambience is a little rundown and I'm not sure if that's just because they don't know where to put things yet or what (like random refrigerators or carts strewn about). Finally, this may just be because of the nature of skewers, but the pot itself was very sunken into the table and somewhat difficult to grab out of despite them giving fairly length chopsticks. They had baskets you could use for the hotpot but do wish that tongs were an option, too. It was a nice try and maybe will be a better option in a few months but would probably choose to revisit some of the other options nearby next time. read more

Amazing selection of skewers and really good value! Weekday lunches are $24.99 AYCE here. Along with the skewers and other ingredient options, they have a small selection of appetizers (peanuts, fruits, shrimp chips, etc), brown sugar jelly, and a decent sauce bar. As a massive fan of all Asian jelly desserts, the jelly was the main sell for me. However, be careful about the spice level if your spice tolerance isn't great - we got "less" (options were mild, less, medium, extra) and it was still quite spicy. I recommend doing a split pot and getting one spicy and one non spicy broth! All in all I will absolutely be back here, if not for the delicious selection and amazing value then for the unlimited jelly haha. read more

I enjoyed the food here and the staff were very nice but some things could be improved. The side table is a great idea for additional space but should already include ladles, cups, and extra napkins. It was a little difficult flagging staff down during a busy Sunday dinner so having those things ready would benefit everyone. I think the lack of service throughout the entire meal made it a little difficult for others in my party to enjoy their meal but I try to be understanding as I used to be in the food service industry as well. The experience is a little bit more hands on than some other hot pot places since you are able to grab your own skewers and other items that aren't sliced meat. This may be a good experience for those who are new to hot pot or just want to sample different skewers without committing to a whole order. I would recommend this place for smaller groups since it's a small space and their biggest table fits 6 people. This wouldn't be my first choice for hot pot in Chinatown but it was worth a try. read more

this place is totally worth it and bonus is no wait!! personally i prefer mlbb over kungfu hot pot (~1-2hrs wait). it comes with unlimited drinks and their DESSERTS r so yummy i think about the fried buns with condensed milk sometimes. a variety of hot pot skewers ready to dip and eat, along with a menu of unlimited meats and veggies, definitely check them out. ambiance is not as loud as other hot pot places so that's a plus too read more

If you guys love hot pot like I do, or this may be your first experience, you have to check out @mlbb_hotpot on Arch Street in Philadelphia's China Town. I've had a lot of the hot pots in my general South Jersey area and a few in the Philly area, but this may be my favorite thus far. My spicy broth was the perfect combo of heat and bold flavors that I expect in a hot pot broth. The sauce bar has everything you need to make a great dip, and the meat/seafood/veggie self-serve wall is extensive. It's so convenient to grab it yourself and just dunk the skewers in your broth. I absolutely loved seeing how many skewers we dropped in our bucket too. Hot pot is a really fun experience, and I am eager to come back again soon! read more

This is a newly opened restaurant in Chinatown. I saw a reel about them and wanted to give them a try. I believe they are a franchise from China. Parking: The restaurant doesn't have its own parking lot. It is either street parking or park at nearby parking garages. Service: The waitress was on top of it. Once anything gets empty out, she would come right by to clear up the table space. Stop by frequently to see if you need anything. Pays close attention when you seem like you needed something. I didn't have a bowl or spoon to try out the soup base, right away the waitress brought them over. I have long hair, right away the waitress brought over a hair tie and ask if I needed it. Food: Everything is pretty much self service. You get your sauce from the sauce bar. All the food and skewers are across from the sauce bar. There are many, and i mean many, varieties to choose from. My husband and I did a split pot with one free pork bone soup base and a paid $7.99 fish maw soup base. That fish maw soup base was gooood!! At least I feel worth paying for. The only problem we have was we got a little confused by the menu when we're choosing our soup base. Took us a little time and Q&A with the waitress. And there are plenty of food on the menu that are basically self served in the back. We didn't even have to look over the entire menu. Overall, it is a good meal and I am definitely full. Food coma! Will I come back? Possibly. But I might question if I want to bring my young kids here because I'm afraid they might play and mess with the sharp skewer sticks that are on the table. But definitely a nice lunch date I had. read more

This place has been open for a few months and I finally had time to try, me and my friends went there did the all you can eat package, the broth was very flavorful especially the tomato one, would definitely go there again for the broth. They also provide personal pot for those who doesn't like to share, there are a good selection of food and sauces on the buffet table, just make sure you don't waste too much food( for those who doesn't know they do charge by weight if you have a lot of untouched food at the end)and it's not gonna be pretty. read more

I've come here probably the most out of any hot pot place since I've moved to Philly. I've taken my friend, fiancé and mom there on different occasions. I have tried a few other places and not all were good (at least not for what you're spending). MLBB and Kungfu Hotpot are my two favorite places to go. MLBB is decently priced and has a good selection. The people who work there are so attentive, kind and just provide great service in general. The environment is great too. I wish I could go more but my fiancé is not a huge fan of hotpot so it is a once in awhile thing read more

Very cute concept inside and very decorated. We came here for my dad's birthday with a party of 7 and the experience was OK. First off, 90 minutes for 7 people is defintely not enough especially since we all had to share one huge pot. The hotpot skewer concept is fun but I think its very complicated with 7 people trying to share one pot. I also gave them the cake to store in the fridge when being seated with the expectations to be able to cut it at the resturant and at the end when we finished eating and asked for the cake, they told us that we are not allowed to cut the cake and did not allow outside food. The food was good, the few items that stood out to me were the golden lava fish balls and mochi fish tofu. They had a buffet selection for majority of the hotpot items and we can order some of the meats on the menu with the host. They had fruits and desserts at the buffet. read more

On April 26 my husband and I were visiting Philadelphia and stumbled upon MLBB Hotpot. We had never experienced Hot pot. It was quite an experience. It was a self-serve restaurant with a variety of meats, vegetables, and sauces. Our amazing waitress Nini walked us through every aspect of selecting the right soup base, meats, and sauces. We opted for a half mild and half spicy, soup base, selected our meats and sauces, and proceeded to cook our meats by immersing them in the soups. Nini went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations by providing excellent customer service, which enhanced our experience. The service, the quality of the meats, and the atmosphere of the restaurant will ensure we return to MLBB Hot spot whenever visiting Philadelphia. Currently eating here and it is not worth it. Food is fine, service is non existent. None of the usual hot pot tools were provided I had to hunt down a server to ask for tongs and a spoon to cook the meats. Price is fairly high to not include non alcoholic beverages when plenty of other places nearby do. I won't be back. read more

This place mostly provides skewers as a hotpot option over the regular meats. The skewers are okay at best but not flavorful. The hotpot bowl is also smaller than other places so it is really hard to eat with many people. There is no A/C so it is extremely hot which causes a lack of appetite for your customers. Service was also very disrespectful towards non-Chinese customers. As an asian, they would not stop speaking to me in Mandarin even though I told them I only speak English. The leftover food policy is also not good. I think it was about $7 for 200mg of food which is ridiculous. It is very easy for two people to rack up a $150 bill with hotpot and one drink. This place also has shady practices as it has 4.9 star reviews on google which are mostly botted. On a friday night, we went in and the place was almost empty. Does not make sense for a hotpot place on a friday night. It is not worth coming to this hotpot over other hotpots. Kungfu hotpot up the street is much better at half the price. read more

I'm usually not a big hot pot fan but MLBB really changed my perspective! Can't wait to go back! The broths were very flavorful and the skewers made it so much easier to get the food out once it was cooked. That alone was a huge advantage. But they've got your classics: LA galbi, bulgogi beef, thinly sliced fatty brisket, pork belly, spicy gochujang pork shoulder, you know what it is. But they also have some deep cuts: pork cheek and beef tongue! I think those are only available for dinner, but still. Delicious. They also have a good selection of seafood. Their marinated scallops and squid were a hit. I believe they also have mussels, shrimp, all the good stuff. One thing I wish they had more of was a wider variety of side dishes (banchan). They had radish kimchi and marinated cucumbers when I went, but cabbage kimchi was all out that day, and I just feel like one more little side dish would have made it perfect... like maybe some potato salad or the like. Compared to the other hot pot places I've been to, LaTao sets itself apart by offering more hot pot menu selections. Even the broth comes in 11 different flavors, and you can opt for 3 of them at once by ordering the Benz pot. For our table, we got Korean spicy broth along with Tom Yum broth and Mixed Mushroom and Rib broth. Out of these, the Korean spicy broth was my fave. I love that there are so many different choices of meat, veggies, and seafood to choose from but the shrimps were a bit smaller than I'd prefer. As for their grill section, there aren't as many meat options as some of the places I've been to, but the flavoring was pretty good. As others may have mentioned, their sauce bar and hot food/dessert buffet sections are pretty modest or nonexistent in comparison with those like KPOT, Chubby Cattle, and Kung Fu hot pot. If you're a stickler for these, you'll be disappointed by coming here. They really stay on top of the AYCE part, which I appreciated. You can choose between an individual pot or a communal one, and there's a solid self-serve section in the back with drinks, sauces, veggies, noodles, and other hotpot basics. The seafood selection was surprisingly good -- abalone, conch, crab legs, shrimp, mussels -- all fresh and flavorful. The seafood boil took a little while to come out, but it was seasoned well and worth the wait. For meat, they had American wagyu, ribeye, pork belly, and lamb -- all sliced fresh and great for hotpot. The only downside was the bathroom. The sink was clogged and almost overflowing, and there was no hand soap, which definitely raised some hygiene concerns. Still, the overall value, service, and food quality made this a great experience. I'll definitely be back -- especially in the winter when hotpot hits even harder.
