I've loved my experience bringing my children to Fern Academy the past couple years. They are well taken care of with teachers who truly love what they do, and I know my kids are getting a very strong foundation, both academically and socially. I also love how they teach my children things I never thought to teach them about -- my kids have learned so much it astounds me...it never gets old & I'm so impressed by what this Academy has done for all their students. It truly shows they put so much effort into making children's experiences and memories so special. There are so many fun learning activities that the students can participate in! Brings me to tears when I see my kids at their Winter Recitals or Graduation ceremonies, and even at parent conferences, because they've come such a long way. Our daughter Emily has had such a wonderful experience in the preschool class with Miss Gabby and Miss Mattie. Both teachers are incredibly kind, patient, and caring. As a parent, finding a school you can truly trust with your children means everything. We transferred here from another school called Everbright, where my twins slowly became emotionally withdrawn and started struggling with school, so finding this preschool truly changed everything for our family. Director Ms. Candy is truly one of the kindest and most caring people I've met. From the very beginning, she made us feel comfortable and supported as parents. She is always patient, warm, responsible, and genuinely involved with the children and families. Every morning she greets the kids with such positive energy, and she always takes time to talk with parents and check in on how the children are doing. You can tell this is not "just a job" for her -- she truly cares about every child and wants them to feel loved, safe, and happy at school. My son's teachers, Mrs. Gabby and Ms. Mattie, and my daughter's teacher, Ms. Yami, have all been incredible. They are so patient with the kids, especially during emotional moments or difficult days. Whenever my children are upset or having a hard time, the teachers never make them feel like a burden. Instead, they comfort them with so much patience and love until they calm down. As a mom, those moments mean more to me than I can explain. The teachers also put so much effort into making the children feel special. They prepare little gifts, plan thoughtful activities, and create such a warm and loving environment every single day. My children genuinely love going to school now, and that says everything. Not every school treats children with this level of care and heart. This school truly does. We are so thankful for every teacher here and for everything they do for our family. Ms. O is my favorite teacher at the school. She is the most patient and experienced teacher I have ever met. My son has been enrolled in the preschool on August 8th, 2022 and now in the pre-K class with Mrs. O. Ms. Candy and Ms. Ling taking care of my son in a kind and patient way to bring him to enjoy the school from his separation anxiety. I truly appreciate all of the teachers and staffs at Fern for the help during this difficult time. Mrs. O is very decided and experienced. Her tutorials helping for the kid whom will attend to public school. She also loved challenging her students. We did complete the homework this year. We enrolled our child here a few months back in their Jr. Preschool program. The Good: The facility itself is very clean. Staff members sitting at the front are often very kind when they greet you and sensitive to the fact that children are often scared to leave their parents for the day. They offer morning and afternoon snacks to the children and hot lunch is available for an additional fee. Staff and administration communicate to family through the brightwheel app, which is really convenient and fun (teachers would send photos throughout the day). Teachers help to reinforce potty training and promote autonomy in the restroom. The Not so Good: This preschool program is quite expensive compared to others in the area. At the time our child attended the program, there was a lot of movement among the staff. It was not uncommon for our child to have a different preschool teacher every other week. The preschool teachers often seemed overwhelmed and unsupportive by administrators (based on conversations I overheard). Based on photos shared with us in the brightwheel app, it was obvious that our child was occasionally excluded from group activities, which appeared quite punitive for a child under 3 years old. The Fern Academy has only been around for a few years, and it's current location only about a year. Many of the teachers seem relatively young. It's primary demographic is Asian with around what appears to be at least 95% of enrolled students being Chinese. Our child is now in a different (more culturally diverse) preschool and is thriving. I'm not sure if it's just a new developmental milestone or that the current teachers are more experienced and kind to our little one. read more

I have contacted this academy multiple times, even came in person to get more information for my children to potentially attend. I was told I would get a call back the first time then the second time I was told I would receive a email with more information....I never received a call back or an email. After going in person and not receiving a call back or an email I didn't think too much into it but after looking at the ethnicity that attends I am questioning if I did not receive any information because I do not "fit" the image that they have attending. It is disheartening at this point and I do not expect anything from this academy and I have since then, looked elsewhere. I will update when I find other academies that are receptive and responsive. I do hope this reaches someone at this academy and that you will do better in the future. read more

My son has been at Fern Academy for 10 months since he turned two years old. I love that Fern Academy is an immersion school and teaches Mandarin. I also like that they are clean which many daycares are not. I love that they have a STEAM program and am happy one exists in Chino. Ever since my son's class got a new teacher, Miss Summer, he learns so much and comes home saying random new things. I love it. He's grown soo much in less than one year. Miss summer is very passionate and treats each kid the way they respond and learn best. She is a very dedicated, energetic teacher and my son loves her and misses her when he comes home. Ms Candy who I believe is the coordinator is also very sweet and nice. Mrs O choa is also energetic which I love. Miss sierra is so sweet. I appreciate Ms Nana who knows my son very well and knows she needs to be cuddled and carried during drop off. Thank you for that. It's been almost a year since I last left a review and I just want to update on how much my daughter has progressed socially and academically in Mrs. O's class. She was a bit shy with people she's not familiar with and gets stage fright in front of a crowd but she's conquered her fear as she feels at ease with her teachers and classmates. Mrs. O's continuous effort in building a strong learning foundation for the kids really shows as my daughter is already reading simple stories. We have been with Fern Academy since my first kid was four years old, now he is eight already; I really cannot believe this that now my boy is fluent in English; even though he was born here in the states, both of my parents were trying to emphasize the importance of having dual language, we never spoke English at our house, and this cause that my kid did not speak any English word when he attend preschool. He was crying everyday, then I realized that this is not right. We started private tutoring with Fern since then. Two years later, my daughter learned with Fern as well since it was COVID time, and we are having great experiences so far. My daughter was enrolled for the TK class here last year & is now attending for Kinder. If we did not trust this school, she would not be going here for a second year. I am so thankful and so happy I found this preschool for my kids!! I have 3 kids enrolled here: Jr Preschool, kindergarten & the after school program. I feel so good knowing my kids are loved and taken care of. My kids love their teachers so much! They run up to them with hugs. I have a new baby as well and my hands are quite full. They always help me when I need assistance with walking my little ones to class and sometimes help me get the kids to the car when I have my newborn with me. The staff is beyond kind and caring! They put lots of effort in all of the holiday parties for the children. They go above and beyond! I am so glad I chose Fern academy for my daughter, she normally isn't comfortable around new people but the staff and teachers were so amazing with her she didn't even cry, she is learning so much more than her other pre school and she's excited to go which makes me a happy knowing that she gets excited for school. I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS BUT DUE TO MY RECENT EXPERIENCE WITH THEM, I HAVE TO WARN OTHER PARENTS. If I could write 0 stars, I would because of how unprofessional this facility is. Think very carefully before you place your children here because I had trusted them as a parent and they failed us. First of all, do not bring your child in unless they are timid, quiet, and well-behaved children. If they are the complete opposite, be prepared to get your child kicked out on a very short notice! And without proper interventions before it happens. They claim they do not "punish" children but that's exactly what they did to my child. I have a 3 year old that is admittedly stubborn, has behavioral problems, and high energy. We are constantly working on this issue at home and communicated this to the teachers as well. However, instead of providing firm guidance, redirection, or collaborating with us parents to figure out the best way to guide my child, they automatically kicked him out stating "we can no longer accommodate" to a 3 years old! I was promised by the director that she would work with us instead of kicking a 3 y/o out of school! They are constantly singling him out and labeling him bad. This is a childcare facility and they cannot accommodate children of all kind therefore, they punish my son by kicking him out! Both my husband and I work full time so you would think that they would provide proper amount of notice but no! Not even a week or two notice, they just told us one day that will not accept him anymore. They are very unprofessional and incompetent! read more
