I really enjoyed my dinner but for a filet it had a lot of fat and gristle. After removing it the meat tasted great. Baked potato was soft and hot as well as the bread. They do offer a salad bar but I didn't try it. It's an older place but seems to be the "restaurant" in Douglas, GA. When I walked in I was asked if I had a reservation, I didn't but luckily there was one spot at the bar so I ate there. I was actually surprised they take reservations but the place got slammed while I was there on a Thursday night. I would advise you make reservations. The other first was going a restaurant that takes reservations and serves their food on plastic plates! That was a first for me. The staff was nice, the vibe is good and food great. I will definitely visit again when in this small South Georgia town. Oh just about everything on the menu is "market price". So if you're on a budget you may want to ask what the price is before you order. read more

The 2 star rating is because of the steak. For the price although the steak was tasty it was probably 1/3 fat. The 12oz Delmonico. I know the price of meat has probably gone up but I would rather have a smaller steak with less fat if I had known. Service and drinks were good other than that. read more

Reserved a spot for 20 people, they gave us 6 different tables with 18 chairs. Didn't care when we addressed it with them. Then waitress dumps food down the back of the person who was celebrating the birthday. Poor service, food and attitude of the longtime employees. Do not eat here! read more

The food is almost always amazing there have only been a couple times where my steak was over cooked no big deal. Service is always friendly speed depends on how busy they are. Tables and chairs could be updated especially the smaller ones and the vents could have covers so the people sitting next to them don't get frozen lol but besides that it's one of my favorite places to go to dinner read more

This the best place in Douglas. Only downside is it's open Thursday -Sunday. I usually get the skewers which are great.

Fern Bank serves a nice dinner. Try the steak. It's a bit busy at peak hours so I suggest arriving early or later after the crowd subsides. Give Fern Bank a try. read more

Best steak in Douglas. I try and eat here every time I visit. Managed to have two dinners here over the Easter weekend and both were spot on. This is not a place for a large party (hence the terrible red hat review) but if you have a small group or couple it's the best. Service is great. read more

Not a fan of the plastic plates, but I keep coming back for the best filet mignon steak I have ever had. You can cut it with a fork it is so tender. Staff is attentive and very nice. Need to keep temperature inside to the customer's needs--too cold, and the lighting is not the best. Highly recommend for the food!!!! read more

I've dined in some world renowned steak houses and none of them have market price for steaks. I paid $22.00 for there Delmonico and it was over cooked and 1/2 was fat and all food is served on plastic plates. I'm not sure what the hype is about this place? Absolutely will not ever, return!!! Stopped in slightly after the normal supper hour. Stood at the front door and waited to be greeted for nearly ten minutes and was not ever approached. In town visiting family and this restaurant was recommended to eat at. First off we waited a while to be seated. For appetizer we had the crab cakes. They tasted like they pulled them out of the freezer and were premade (horrible). The Mahi Mahi was uneatable and the steak had a funny taste to eat. Will not be going back. Best burger my husband ever had. I had the petite filet and it was excellent. Minimal salad bar, but what was there was fresh. Not a large menu, it is mostly a steak place, but they do offer a few seafood items. Very casual atmosphere, but interesting rustic type of place. I would definitely go back. read more

I went to dine at the Fern Bank with a Red Hat group. They seated us up on a platform that was accessed by a treacherous staircase (keep in mind many of our members are elderly and have trouble with regular stairs). There is salad bar with only a few uninspired items and bottled salad dressings. You are given a small styrofoam bowl for your salad. Your steak is served on a paper plate. For all of this, you are charged what you would pay for a high end steak house. I ate there once and NEVER again. read more
