All of a sudden something snapped and his van stopped working, he took it Fernandez Auto shop in the middle of nowhere and he actually helped him get parts and fixed him up , he and is staff worked till 11:30 pm to fix his van, who would do that???? No one that I know!!! But they did. Yes it took him some time and money but these guys did their very best to help him fix his van. So that being said I'd give them 10 Stars. I was traveling Accross the US in my Firebird and began to feel vibrations and shaking in the desolate Texas prairie... about 100 miles outside Fort Stockton.. a small city in the middle of nowhere ( heart of Texas)..with the grace of god my shaking front end and I made it to My next stop.. Jenny diagnosed my issue immediately as my front tires were separating My tires were not to be found anywhere in town I did not want to spend another 3 days there waiting I checked with all 6 tire stores in town.. no go. One day after our wedding, on the Road to Las Vegas for our honeymoon. Our car started heating. We stop here for Help on a Sunday and it's Closed, so we have to rent a hotel room. Monday morning we are here waiting for Help again, but It wasnt until 10am they helped us. They took us for a ride on the road to see what the problem was. Turns out it was the radiator that was leaking a bit causing the car to heat up. They order us the part from Auto Zone in the small town. To find they don't have it, so they ordered from "who knows were." All they told us was that the part would arrive "Tomorrow." So once again we rent a hotel room in this small town where almost EVERYTHING is closed Mondays...... Been here since 9am just waiting.. 3rd day Newlyweds. We were on our way home from San Antonio, when our drive became very bumpy. We pulled over and searched for tire shops. Well, on Saturday, this is the only place open. Which turned out to be just fine. Gustavo and Juan were very helpful. They had the tires we needed and replaced them immediately. We didn't even have to get out of the car. I got a flat on my way to El Paso from San Antonio, luckily I hit a flat right before the exit to Fernandez Auto Repair. I got off the exit and parked at the gas station. I've never put in a spare before and this was my first time with a flat, and I was alone. But I dug through the maintenance manual and was able to quickly get the spare tire on the car. Next I searched for a mechanic around the area. I was scared because we were in the middle of the desert and I didn't want to drive down the highway with a spare. Luckily where I broke down was near a Firestone tire testing facility so I guess this is where all the tire magic happened. Fernandez Auto Repair had good reviews and i was just down the road so I took my car there for a new tire. The service was friendly and fast, nice hispanic family business. The owner looked at my car and quote me 94 dollars for the repair, which I later found out was a really good deal. He immediately went to work even though they were working on other cars and my car was finished in about half and hour. Im really relieved that where I broke down was near Fernandez, and I recommend this place for anyone who needs quality service at good prices! read more

Two blowouts on our RV trailer while traveling for Thanksgiving. Unloaded our car to lighten the load and got into Fort Stockton after 5pm on a Saturday. Every major tire place was closed. Some locals recommended Fernandez. Showed up, the owner apologized and said they too were closed, but quickly said he would fix our two tires. The owner and his wife were friendly and kind. Quality mechanical work at a very reasonable cost! On our way from Ft. Davis to Abilene, the water pump in our van went out. This was at 10am on a Saturday morning. Based on Yelp reviews, I called Fernandez, he said he could get to it but wouldn't give an estimate over the phone (which is actually an indicator of a good mechanic, since there's no telling what's actually wrong). While it did take awhile to get repaired, they did have to deal with a couple broken bolts and the cramped confines of a van. The cost was very reasonable, (they didn't charge the actual hours it took) and they were very meticulous about getting the coolant system refilled, up to temp, pressurized, and checked for leaks. read more

They said they would show up yesterday and didn't, then showed up at our door this morning. They looked at the car, then took off saying they would be back, we called 2 hours later and we were told that he was on his way. Another 2 hours later, we called again and were told that he was on his lunch break at the time we called last, and when I asked if we would have time to get to the vehicle (the first time I asked) we were told that it was open 'tomorrow' and they could get to it, and that they wanted $45 to move it 2.7 miles to the shop. I wanted to double check that it was open, and asked if was open on Sundays and was then told no, so the 'lady' answering the phone didn't even know what day of the week it was, and then had to double check whether or not it was open on Sundays. And by the way, tomorrow is a Sunday from right now, so obviously the person had no idea what was going on. She put the guy on the phone who was supposed to be helping us, and he kept trying to insist that I didn't know what I was talking about and that MAYBE we could get it done by Tuesday. Ever had to change a flat on the freeway when cars and semis are zipping past at speeds in excess of 90mph? Nope? Well, I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but if it has to happen and you can find your way to Fernandez, make it a stop. We landed in Fort Stockton right around 6pm on a Wednesday rolling a donut with a fully loaded Mini Cooper and Thule. We pulled up to the local Firestone, but they were closed. A quick Yelp! search uncovered Fernandez, which was closing in less than 5 mins. I called and explained our situation and they told us to come in and they would see what they could do to help. We pull in right as they were closing and they started looking for a replacement tire. Turns out the size of the tire we needed isn't one of those that is in any way common, and they didn't have any. They offered to replace it with a different size tire, but we would need at least two. We told them to go ahead and as they were pulling one of the tires to put on the front and noticed that this tire was also in danger (we had hit something on the freeway). We were very lucky, to say the least, that the other tire hadn't blown on the way into Fort Stockton. About 40 mins later, and only out $200, we had our new tires and were sent on our way. To be frank, they could have charged us more, but they kept their pricing reasonable and treated us fairly, were professional, and very friendly. Highly recommended. read more

Got stranded in a no cell signal area between Iraan Sheffield and Frontage pushed the car about 3 miles into an area with reception luckily we drove in 2 separate cars drove up to the next town which was Fort Stockton went to Firestone and asked if they fixed Transmissions they referred us to Fernandez Auto Repair. Gus was very extremely kind and helpful. We left to CA and returned a couple weeks later to pick up our car. Seriously the kindest / helpful people in general. Highly recommend. We called Ford dealership in Ft Stockton and they were backed up but sent us recommendations. Gus stopped what he was working on to assess my car and figure out what was going on, he tried to order a new ignition circuit from the local auto parts store, and they didn't have the parts, he even tried to have a family member pick up the right part, and again the local places didn't have it. He frankensteined the part off of a vehicle in his lot that was going to be out of service for a while and put it in my car and it ran like it was supposed to. If I could give no stars, I would. I stopped here at 2:20pm on my way from San Antonio to Tucson with some engine concerns and was told that everyone but the one gentleman was on lunch. He said it'd be about 20-25 minutes till they're back. It is now 3:45 and two other gentleman have shown up, but when I spoke with them they told me I have to wait for whoever it is that's on lunch to get back. Car felt a little weird so we stopped here. They tried to tell us the radiator was cracked and we needed a new one for $350 plus a deposit, but would have to wait 3 days to get one. So we called our regular mechanic who had looked at our car a day earlier and informed us if the radiator was cracked it would be leaking onto the ground and we would have never made it as far as we did anyways... So they pretty much just tried to pick an expensive part and rip us off because we were from out of town without actually checking if anything was wrong. Pick a different place for sure... read more

Several other customers came right up and received assistance. I however keep getting treated as though I didn't exist. Pulling a 5th wheel on I-10 from El Paso to Fort Stockton TX, our Ford 6.0 diesel started smoking, big time, by the time we got to Ft Stockton. If you've traveled through this area, you know there is NOTHING here. We limped into Fort Stockton and called the Ford dealer here. They said, at least 3 weeks before they could even look at the truck. They told me to call Fernandez Auto Repair and gave me the phone # and address. He was there that day and towed it to the shop. Long story short, he found the problem. An injector had failed and self destructed, damaging the piston, cylinder wall and head, busted a valve and damaged others. I saw the damage, not pretty. My online searches agreed with him. I needed a new Ford 6.0 diesel. His suggestion, matching my thoughts, was a re-manufactured engine from Ford. It had a 2 year, unlimited mileage warranty, and was basically a new engine. To find a independent mechanic in a small town in the middle of nowhere, that knows diesels, and can repair / install them, is unusual. His price was also better than I expected. It may have taken a bit longer than I'd hoped it would, but it was a big job. I feel lucky that he was here. read more

When I told them I was picking it up they informed that I would need to pay 45.00 for it being there. after I took it to another mechanic I find out that what they said was wrong was not even wrong.
