He came by and took initial measurements and said he would provide drawings of what he would do. I never received the drawings. I don't know why he decided to move the drains out to the sides instead of leaving them in the middle. As you can see in the pictures, now there's areas where water pools where if there was a drain there wouldn't be an issue. I'm also surprised he didn't put a drain where the pipe for the water tank comes out, which is causing discoloration. These are things that I expected an expert to know about and to provide upfront. Now that the concrete is put in it's too late to have the drains installed in the middle. Btw moving the drains to the sides was an extra $1k. We also added the concrete path to the front of the house, and when he did that he cut the water pipe so now there's a dead patch. He didn't consult with us prior and that was not something that was agreed upon. Now comes the payments. He asks for payments in installments up front. Reason being that he said he needs to pay for the materials and his workers. I have always heard that you should never pay and should wait until work is done, but he seemed trustworthy and it was in installments so I didn't have too much of a problem with that. These were paid via checks. When it came time to pour the concrete, I was told it would be a certain amount and I provided payment directly to the concrete company. Later on after it was done, I was overcharged and I asked him to call them to verify and ask why the difference. He never followed up with them. Luckily this was through my credit card so I was able to submit a dispute. When we gave him the final check, there were some remaining items that he still had to take care of before the project was completed. I had to keep texting him to ask when he would be back to finish the job. It took weeks since he kept pushing his schedule out. My overall sentiment is that this was just an OK result. I do appreciate that him and his team worked during the summer through the 100 degree weather to get this done. But at the same time, I'm not too happy with the drainage system that they did.

Every day work for 2 hours. their esitimated time is around 4 business days and it turns out to be 1.5 month. 2. Communication is nightmare: they don't accept phones. They are busy. 3. NO Appear: They don't appear without telling you. You cannot trust. There was a week: they promised to come everyday and didnot come for everyday. Their workers were idle there, but the business owner just did not want them to come without you paying addtionally. 4. Total price: I trusted and paid in quarter and deposit. it turned out I have to pay the total payment for the most important concrete pour day. I paid 3000 more than agreement. If you don't pay, they will not finish the work. 5. Result: I am not sure the smooth finish looks like the above, I don't think I can directly polish it. They don't have patience apparantly even for the most important step.

There was another guy who was good, Aaron, who oversaw my biweekly mowing etc. In the past few years, I've had a couple issues. Mainly dying plants due to not being pruned correctly. I would call or email to correct the situation. The one plant species I told them not to touch were my roses. I didn't have faith in their work. Honestly, I should've let them go a year ago. I knew that. Aaron sold his business, and I thought I'd give them a try. Until today.... I came home to my beautiful, and very expensive, roses completely hacked. They were my favorite part of the yard, growing through the white picket fence with the most beautiful blooms. Not anymore. I watched our security cameras and the way they just completely did a hack job on them. My favorite part of my home is now ruined. Don't hire them for anything other than mowing a yard.

Price was reasonable vs the only 1 other bid I received; and Aaron seemed to know what needed to be done. They arrived the next morning and did the repair in a couple of hours. We additionally had some leaky valves I decided to see if he was able to replace - He replaced them that afternoon with higher quality valves. We did have 1 issue several days later with 1 of the new valves leaking. We never pressure tested them the day they were replaced due to the fresh glued joints. So this was first time stressing them. I reported the leak and he arrived the next day and addressed the issue (it was a faulty valve). All fixed and working perfectly. Aaron is awesome & very knowledgeable. They provide an excellent Warranty. And their pricing is very reasonable & competitive. I highly recommend this place for your Irrigation & Landscaping needs.

On August 18th, Paul came out to look at the work I needed done: a repair and rebuild of a decomposed granite path that had eroded in my backyard. He took measurements and we discussed the details of the work to be performed. By August 21st, I had not yet received a quote, so I reached out to Michelle in their office. SIX DAYS LATER, on August 27th, I was copied on an email from Michelle to Paul requesting the info from the site visit so that she could prepare a quote. I received a quote the following day, Aug 28th, signed it and sent it back the next day. Expecting to be notified that they had received my signed bid and to schedule the work, I was annoyed that I had to reach out to THEM on Sept 4th for an update. I HEARD NOTHING IN RESPONSE! So, I pinged them again on Sept 12th. This time, I received a reply apologizing for the delay and some BS about a new scheduling system. I was told that my job was added to the work list, and that the team had been notified asking for an estimated start date. Here we are, two weeks later, and I have heard absolutely NOTHING from them!! I am forced now to start the process over and find another contractor to do the work. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC customer service. The lack of communication is inexcusable!!!

We enjoy our tropical-themed backyard so much now :). Thanks to G (the owner, the foreman, and the hard worker) and his crew. We moved to Brentwood 18months ago. We needed a makeover of our backyard which was flooded during rainy season and poor arrangement of plantation, as well as front yard upgrade. I RFQ'd 5 contractors, and got 4 back ontime. The owner of Pacific Landscape Services (= PLS) is Gatzemani (shortname G). His quote was right in line with another 2, but we were attracted by his overall solution of our troubled yards, and he seemed to be a smart guy. So we did our leap of faith by hiring him to finish in 8wks. Based on our past experience of contracting, ontime seems to be a dream.... but G and his crew made it. 1. Quote is reasonable, G doesn't nickel/dime with small adjustments. I do suggest to communicate clearly upfront to avoid adjustment/rework. 2. G is the worker bee himself and the most skillful one. 3. G always said "have to do it right" vs shortcutting/ easy work, and he did. 4. G is easy to work with, and manages his crew effectively 5. We were impressed by the clean-up on daily base and final closure which really stands out his services. We no longer needed to hire trash dumping guys like our prev projects. 6. If you are uncertain about something, you can ask G who gives his honest opinion but respects the owner's final decision and executes it. 7. G has a broad knowledge of sub-supplier bases+ plantation. We took his recommendation for pavers, pebbles.. 8. They specialize in hardscape/ pavers/ drainage/ irrigation. We have a sloped driveway and connection to backyard through sideyard. The leveling/grading was a big challenge for everyone, but G did it. 9. Restored our deserted pond in the back and transformed it into a beautiful creekbed with moss rocks. The sound of creek river is so soothing and enjoyable (see pictures) 10. The only thing is the SOD which is not doing well. [6wks later after completion] The lawn is 95% good, there are still 2 brown spots at front lawn Few recommendations: a). Any material on color/texture, it's better go to stores (if avail), and/or check samples vs online/brochure. It is very different, esp with big areas and how they age overtime. b). Consult G and make your own final call. The creekbed was a recommendaiton from G, a master piece vs a pond with mosquitoes. We went with our desire of light pebbles vs dark lava stones (an idea from G), and we love our decision. c). Get involved and check the job periodically. We did/do find small flaws (not major) due to inconsistent labor quality during the job, eg. trash was not removed before installing gopher wire, irrigation lines popped after 4wks... G re-did the gopher wire the next day after being made aware, and we fixed the dripper line ourselves. Overall, a very postitive experience!! I highly recommend Pacific Landscape Services.
