He told me this part alone was $1500 and I definitely couldn't afford it , and it was a few months ago when it was really cold. He kept trying to pressure me to sign up for a members program and pay 20 a month and I kept trying to tell him no over and over and over . He said he could knock the total price down to 1200 if I signed up. I felt like he was attempting to take advantage of me , kept mentioning how cold it was and how I'll change my mind soon. Turns out the ignitor was on Amazon for $30 , extremely easy to install , and the control board is found online for $150, which was also very easy to do. If he wasn't so steep in the prices I probably would have paid that day but I am glad I stuck it out and only used them for a diagnoses. Anyone going to these guys just keep that in mind .

I mentioned to Chris that something went awry after we tried to secure the cover of the Nest thermostat (it was loose from the wall). The AC had worked before but after doing something with the cover, the AC stopped working. Chris quickly found the problem (a fuse had blown out). Chris was very professional, gave me some ideas on a Honeywell thermostat (we're not BIG fans of the new NEST thermostat), showed me how to read the error codes on our furnace (watch the number of red light flashes and compare it to the brochure left with the furnace). It was easy, peasy, even someone like me who has no HVAC experience could do this. I can't thank Chris enough for his great personality, true professionalism, answered my questions, taught me a few things (learning something new is always good) and even loved on my 2 labs (turns out we both love animals). Since that didn't fix the dryer issue, the dryer company sent out a (pretty lazy) service person, who took a brief look and said it was still the vent. Jorge offered to come back and take another look, even going down in the crawl space to disassemble and reassemble the dryer vent to see what else he could find. Nothing. It's actually the dryer that has a wonky sensor--thanks to Jorge's genial hard work, we now know this definitively. Thanks guys. Freon was leaking and since my unit was 24 yrs old and the Freon used for my model was no longer available. This is totally understandable and I knew this day was coming. I naturally got a quote for replacement for my AC unit as well as my furnace, because my furnace was needing to be replaced as well within the next year or two so I decided I was likely going to do both at once to save me a headache in a year or two. For the record, Ross H&A was not the company who did my maintenance. Ross Heating and Air was the last estimate I got and I could not have been more impressed with everything they presented.
