I want to thank technician, Chris Godwin, for helping us resolve our AC problem involving the NEST thermostat. I mentioned to Chris that something went awry after we tried to secure the cover of the Nest thermostat (it was loose from the wall). The AC had worked before but after doing something with the cover, the AC stopped working. Chris quickly found the problem (a fuse had blown out). Chris was very professional, gave me some ideas on a Honeywell thermostat (we're not BIG fans of the new NEST thermostat), showed me how to read the error codes on our furnace (watch the number of red light flashes and compare it to the brochure left with the furnace). It was easy, peasy, even someone like me who has no HVAC experience could do this. I can't thank Chris enough for his great personality, true professionalism, answered my questions, taught me a few things (learning something new is always good) and even loved on my 2 labs (turns out we both love animals). Corruption at it's finest. I have part of their home program for years paying faithfully. They came out for a routine AC review and I didn't buy an upgrade they wanted (unit is 6 years old). They then would not certify that my AC unit was working correctly. Within an hour of departure the unit stopped working. They sent same man back that evening, he got it to work then an hour later, no longer working. Next they sent someone else out who said it just had to be our breaker which I doubted. Still I updated new breaker and the AC unit stopped working again. I have asked to speak to manager. The operator takes my messages and I have never received a returned calls, two weeks later still no call. They were suppose to send out an emergency tech. No one has showed up. Called and couldn't get any response other than the woman who answer phone. What a joke. **Update** I am revising my score. I finally received a phone call this morning to discuss my situation and we agreed on the next steps. They were very apologetic but its sad it had to come to this to get a response. read more

Avoid like the plague! Purchased the system 2 years ago, started making noise 3 weeks ago. Called and after multiple unanswered phone calls, they eventually came out but said they didn't have the part. Kept calling, then 3 days ago (in the winter), the heat stopped working. They came back and said they didn't have the part (again), but they would bring a space heater. Again, they didn't do what they said, and no space heaters were brought. They dont return phone calls. They dont stand by their work. T This is dangerous for older people. Avoid this company if you value your health. We recently had a small leak under one of the bathroom sinks. We are on their Sierra Reward Program. So we called them on Wednesday before 5 pm. and were able to get an appointment for the following day. Now, that's customer service. The next day, they called us in the early afternoon to inform us that one of their plumbers was on the way. He arrived about 20 minutes later. His name was Alex Church. He asked to see the bathroom and to explain the problem. He took it apart and looked at all the components. Found the problem and fixed it. He informed us that we will need to replace the faucet soon. He was knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. He fixed our problem. I write this in hopes that his bosses see this and he gets KUDOS for his work. We are very pleased to be on the Sierra Reward Program and recommend this company. read more

Jeremy came by to provide an estimate on a new furnace + heat pump installation for us and he was exceptionally thorough in his assessment, taking a lot of time not only to examine our existing units but to look at the ducting in our crawl space and insulation in our attic. Thank you Sierra Air for getting my new heater set up in a day. A technician came by on Monday for an estimate or to see if my current furnace could be repaired. The bad news was it couldn't be repaired. Good news, it would be fixed within the week. The technician needed a few days to get all parts ordered then he would call to install. We scheduled the installation and the two technicians showed up earlier than the promised time. One was the young guy that initially came to my home. They were professional and got the job done in a less than two hours. They got me set up with the new thermostat, showed me how to change my new filter and asked if I had any questions. Hired Sierra Air to upgrade Attic Insulation. Would not recommend. Broke front door and would not fix, left nails from attic on driveway, said they would build a dam around the attic entry and did not when first said they were done. Had to write letter to cure work not completed. We had to fix the front door and clean up the driveway. Sierra Air after cure letter built a cardboard dam around the attic entry that was built like a house of cards & ready to fail any minute. They came out twice to fix after the cure letter and could not do what was correct and we ended up negotiating to pay less and we fixed issues. Beware of Misleading Inspections from Sierra Air We are selling our house and the buyer's agent hired Sierra Air to inspect our HVAC. The tech asked if we'd fix the heater if something was wrong, then claimed the pilot light wouldn't stay on and that the unit was leaking dangerous carbon monoxide. We had our home warranty company send a second tech, who found no issues at all--pilot light stayed on, and carbon monoxide levels were normal. He even said Sierra Air has a reputation for misquoting or exaggerating problems. Thanks to Sierra Air's false report, our buyers backed out of the sale. This cost us time, money, and peace of mind. We have been a part of their club membership for years. We heard that they offered a free plumbing inspection and decided to give it a try. Luis, the plumbing inspector, was great at identifying both issues that needed replacements and recommendations. They were able to send out an estimator, Jessie, same day, which was a nice surprise. He was friendly and gave us an estimate right away. He also mentioned that we could use half of our club credits, which I wasn't even aware we had. That was a great surprise. We were scheduled for an appointment to replace our water heater, expander, washer hoses, and 17 angle stops to steel braided and reset a toilet 2 weeks later. Great communication up until that point. Ryan came out around 10 am solo for our job. He had someone else come to help unload the water heater but then left. He spent the entire day at our house doing the work and was ready to leave at 6. But when I walked through all the work, I realized he forgot to replace one sink's angle stops. He said it was too late to do that work so he would return the next day after his other job. We waited til late afternoon and I had to call to confirm he would be coming. Turns out he was running behind and wouldn't be able to make it out. I had run a load to make sure the washer was running properly since he was returning. My load was steaming hot! Something was not right. I mentioned it to the girl I spoke to and she said she would try to get someone out on Sunday. No call on Sunday so I called on Monday. I spoke with Mike, the plumbing manager, and he was able to schedule us that day with another plumber. Then later that day I got a call saying they needed to reschedule! Got rescheduled for Tuesday with Ryan and then day of, got another call saying he was running late on a job and wanted to reschedule again! I was livid cause we had paid for their services and were rescheduled 4 times! Any time I tried calling Sierra throughout this process, it would just ring and I didn't want to pass on a message with their answering service. I had better luck emailing them since no one would answer during regular hours. Ridiculous! Ryan returned finally on Wednesday to finish the work and figure out what was wrong with the washer. Turns out he/Jessie got the hot and cold pipes switched! Was not happy with the caulking on our toilet, but not gonna bother since things have not gone well. He just put new caulk on over the original rather than cleaning it off. We had a city inspector come the next day to make sure the water heater was up to code...it was not because he didn't put the required about of screws in the exhaust pipe. So, we had to have Ryan come back again! He never utilized the texting notice that he was in his way until after he arrived or already done. Communication from the service and everything after was not good. I had to keep calling or emailing to get things done. It took two weeks and 3 visits to finally get a permit pass for the water heater 'cause of small mistakes and not being thorough about checking work. Super inconvenient! Completely disappointed with this experience and we have cancelled our membership. read more

Got home after work and noticed my heater was not blowing heat. I looked at my furnace and noticed it was not igniting. Due to it being after hours (5:15pm) and it was going to be 18 degrees that night I needed to call. Dwayne came out in an hour, he was pleasant, professional and very knowledgeable. Absolutely nothing wrong with the tech. He noticed my igniter was broken. I needed it replaced and he did. It works great and I thank him for that. The reason for a one star was this part retails for $20.00 and this company Sierra Air charged me $435.00. I needed it done and paid for it, however it is outrageous and beyond price gouging. Will not recommend this company due to their pricing on parts. After hours service call was $135.00. Where they get you is in parts. read more

I called representing 56 owner-owned apartments for an estimate for furnace servicing and/or replacements. I was told an estimator would arrive on 3/17 between 12-2 pm. Nobody showed, nobody called & nobody texted me. I called their office around 3pm & the "friendly employee" didn't know anything about it, said there was nothing on her computer & then came a lot of deafening silence. I suppose I should be grateful to Sierra Air for showing how flaky they are BEFORE we signed a contract with them. Where do I begin...I had a maintenance program with them and their employees were incredible. However, i believe the management and ownership need a rude awakening. Greed has taken over!!! You have great employees but you take advantage and you tell them to take advantage of customers so you WILL LOSE. I had a request for a Moen Flo Shut off Valve per my Insurance requirement. They sent someone who was brand new and had no idea what the valve was. When he arrived my husband told him where the Well was (we live in a rural area with a well) and told him he suspected the valve should be put out there. He asked me questions about where electric outlets were under my house and I told him we had a crawl space that was very small and i only knew of the outlet close to our oven in the kitchen and the crawl space was very small. He spent more than three hours and used my own extension cord to try and find the outlet attach the device and then left. He told me my water pressure was low according to his device so I should call Bruce MacKay another Well Pump company in the area to come and check. THANK GOD I DID. After he left Bruce MaKay came out the Next day to check my water pessure which was fine. They charged me for that.. and that was unneccessay but they also told me ALL THE THINGS SIERRA AIR DID WRONG. The device has an app that needed to be downloaded to my phone.. it was not prior to him attaching it. He attached it to the Wrong area. it sprung a leak where he attatched it and it was NOT EVEN PLUGGED IN. My extension cord was under my home laying there useless and he never even told me he didi not have it plugged in. I was in complete disbelief. The worst part is. This guy charged me $1500 for this job. I immediately called the office and told them I wanted them to come and fix the issue and wanted a refund. They send another plumber out. He was a GREAT plumber. I had him come here before and would Highly recommend Alex. He worked so so hard on this issue all day and into the night in our Well. He put in at least a 12 hour day . The issue was far beyond what Sierra Air could fix. It should have been done by Bruce MacKay.. a Well and Drill Company and he admitted that. He sent them pictures and told them all the issues... and they talked and he was amazing. In my opinion he is worth more than that company deserves!!!!! Bruce MaKaye came out and fixed the issue the next day in 3 hours. Sierra Air did reimburse but this was afte 48 hours of NO Water .. and it was my husbands birthday which we had planned a trip and reservations that we had to cancel due to this debacle. This was such a stressful, traumatic experience. I called and talked to several managers. I have a personal connection with this company as well and it has been more than traumatic to say the least. Sierra Air installed a $29,000 HVAC in my home. Multiple visits during the first 2 months, multiple errors generated by the system specifically with the AC. Improperly installed the AC condenser without leveling and securing the unit to the ground. Ultimately had to replace the entire AC condenser. Now as it warms up, two occasions, new AC does not work, unplug the HVAC and fan comes on once reset, no AC. DO NOT BUY FROM SIERRA AIR. I'm stuck with this POS or have to take them to court. DO NOT BUY FROM SIERRA AIR, rip off and terrible installation. read more

We had a service agreement a few years back, but we weren't impressed then -- even with a service agreement, the wait was long, and the service was just OK. So we terminated it. Then, a few month ago (when it was still cold), one of our heating units quit working. Because our impression with Sierra Air was just OK, we first called the competitor. Then we called Sierra Air; they came over next day, diagnosed the issue, and gave a quote for a repair, unlike the other company that said we needed to replace the entire unit. There was a few days of delay, but the technician came and fixed the unit. My husband was sick then, so the warm air was so appreciated. We set up the service agreement again, and had them replace the A/C unit just a few days ago. They said it would take two days, and they finished it in one. They are a big company with very little workers who over promise and Do Not put you in priority for anything. We always have to wait long long service requests. And the call takers don't seem to care. They don't seem to have the people. Their prices are high. I think it's best to Shop for a different service- you'll get faster results and a better price. Sierra Air has let us down more than once. Asked for a call back. Still haven't gotten a supervisor to call me back. We purchased our a/c from Sierra Air via sales Rep Tony Kasper in 2020, and have a 7 warranty. Twice now, our a/c has been "tuned up" (most recently by Mr. Tim) and their service has always been highly satisfactory. The techs are nice, polite and professional. The appointments are easy to set up; most of the time, I just give them a call. The only criticism I have is whenever I call, the woman who answers the phone can never find any record of my purchase or my warranty but whenever she checks with management, they always find it. She's not unpleasant but it is (as I like to say) an excellent opportunity for improvement. In the past, I have generally had good experiences, but in the last year or so they seem to be less customer service focused. I have had my both my heating and air systems replaced by them (spent lots of $) and have a service membership. When I needed to take advantage of that membership for fast service for an urgent need associated with a leak and non-working garbage disposal, I was told the soonest they could get out was 10 days and my service membership would not make any difference in prioritization of service. Their competitor was out in less than two hours and fixed the problem that was going to put our kitchen out of service for 10 days. Why am I paying for with this service membership when your competitors are so much more responsive? Why do you also have us scheduled to service the heating system at the end of the winter season and my air conditioning maintenance at the end of the summer season? read more

We had an outstanding experience with Austin Browne, technician for Sierra Air, Inc. He was efficient, friendly, pleasant, and thoroughly professional. Thanks to his keen observation and patience, we were finally able to pinpoint the mysterious source of the hazy air and thick layers of dust that had precipitously accumulated in our home in recent months. Austin noted that the room housing the HVAC system was coated with a thick layer of fine, white "stuff." Upon closer inspection, we realized it was silt--an ultra-fine, powdery residue like chalk dust, but heavier and slightly sticky--that had been collecting ever since we installed an ultrasonic steam humidifier several months ago. Around that same time, we also noticed that the flame on our gas stove had turned orange--a red flag that typically indicates incomplete combustion, often due to impurities in the air or poor ventilation. We've since replaced the gas stove with an induction cooktop. While we can't say for sure if health hazards were involved, we suffered months of respiratory issues that only began to improve after resolving the problem. We're so grateful to Austin for helping us connect the dots. His visit made a real difference in our home--and our health. read more

Furnace went out, called Sierra Air and they came out the next day. The technician was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable. I was given an estimate of $47K for a new system with A/C. It was a high pressure sale which included $5k off if I signed within a little over 24 hours. I don't do high pressure sales, so I had another reputable company come and give an estimate which came to $10k for a good quality system, no pressure. I'm so tired of service folks trying to stick it to us up in Tahoe. It's hard enough to get people out here, then they think they can squeeze you for 470% higher cost. Yeah, it was a higher end system, and maybe it would last a little longer, but the price difference is unbelievable. No thank you! read more

I called this place to come out and check my AC unit because the fan would not turn after the unit ran for a while. Guy came out with all his gadgets and stated the unit was failing and that it was low on free on. He also told me that the old free on is non existent, which is not true at all. Anyway, I bought the new fan motor, replaced it myself and ran perfectly the rest of the summer. This is the first time that we have used Sierra Air and I was extremely disappointed. We scheduled a repair and offered the model number to the scheduler on the phone but she told us that it was not necessary because they work on all units. When the tech arrived, he briefly looked at the unit and told me that they no longer carry the refrigerant required for our specific unit and the only thing he could offer me was a quote for a new unit, which would have to be scheduled. But I've been without hot water for two weeks now. Their front desk person said a plumbing technician had to call me and it took me calling them several times to even get an appointment which wasn't for several days. Then they came out and said they were guessing at what was wrong but seemed unsure, said they would order a part, didn't give me a timeline, didn't try all the options. Why wouldn't they bring all the parts with them?? It's now been another week with no communication. What good is a warranty when you can't get service? We needed our garbage disposal replaced. We provided the garbage disposal. We have used Sierra Air in the past. Replacing the garbage disposal should take, at most, one hour. We had a $75 discount card and the quote to replace the disposal was still $777. Under protest, we paid the tech the $89 dispatch fee and sent the tech on his way. Another plumbing company will be at the house replace the disposal for much less. Sierra Air charges flat rates instead of a hourly rate. That screws the customer. read more
