Stayed nearby at the Glen Oak. Came for a quick dinner and we had a great experience. Everyone was nice and helpful. Super attentive. The fireplace was a nice touch! The I had a couple of margaritas, as was recommended by the front desk at Glen Oaks, and they were delish!! Wings were great, my partner had a burger and truffle fries which he enjoyed and I had the fish tacos as recommended by one of the ladies there. Super tasty!!

So sad to see so many 4 star reviews - this is a gem. You're camping in Big Sur, there's plenty of restaurants, cell service, and accommodations. I think people have their expectations too high, but I was just grateful to have a solid meal with the best waitress & setting. Sitting on the patio was freaking fantastic, surrounded by lush redwoods, soft lights & heat lamps. The asada tacos with pickled onions were DELICIOUS - just what I needed - and the snores dessert was the perfect end to my night. Soooo peaceful. Christie / Kristie was an amazing waitress with a fantastic and bubbly attitude. One of the best there with such a fantastic laugh & personality. I love her! Hope everyone can enjoy the same experience!

Ambience! 2 fire tables... with general seating- not shown

Surprise! Great pizza here. We stopped in for a drink with no idea what to expect. The outdoor patio has trees through the deck, fires pits and relaxing night time lighting. We stayed for a couple hours and ended up feeling hungry. We ordered a pizza, with no expectation. Out came a very delicious wood fired thin crust pizza. The sauce was especially light, well balanced with basil , garlic and tomato. Cheese and topping were fresh. Great experience. Too bad we didn't get a photo of that pizza! Service was typical for the area- friendly- but very chill/relaxed, so don't be uppity :)

I came here with friends on our first night for our glamping experience because we were all tired from packing and driving here. We got here a bit late closer to 830pm. So we checked in, dropped off our stuff in our tent cabin then headed over for some food. We came on trivia night which is nice for those that want to do trivia while camping. We didn't so we sat out on the patio where it turns out there are two camp cats! I can't remember their names and I didn't get a picture of both but it was a nice furry addition to our evening! It is something to keep in mind for anyone that has cat allergies. The cats were both friendly and will accept pets but won't purposely seek you out so don't worry! They do like to kind of beg for food but know that they aren't allowed any. So don't feed the cats! The ambiance out on the patio was perfect. There were plenty of space heaters so you don't need to worry about getting too cold in the redwoods. The string lights add to the ambiance and if you want to use the bathrooms, they are right in the middle and easy to access from the patio. We walked in and were seated pretty much immediately so no worries on that! Service was good! Definitely busy and they check on you occasionally without being too intrusive. Be aware that the drinks aren't refillable so enjoy but be aware if you're thirsty, have the water =) Finally, onto the food. I thought it was pretty decent for where you're at. I don't personally like shishito peppers but my friends do and they liked it! I ended up having nachos that were just a little too much for me but pretty tasty. I felt like they did a good job with topping to chip ratio and had it pretty well spread out so I didn't feel like I ran out of toppings too fast. We also shared their creme brulee which was pretty good! Not the best I've had but not bad at all. Overall, I thought it was a great experience to go to this place and it was nice to eat instead of having to unpack and cook on the first night there. It was a bit expensive but great overall! Would definitely recommend as the place to go if you get there and you don't want to cook the first night or just feel like getting a little more of city life versus camping life.

The back deck was so nice to sit at. Overlooked the forest, had cozy lighting, and heat lamps. We got the burger, taquitos, and a silver something moquito (cant remember name). Everything was good, the burger especially was very good. I personally liked that my side salad wasn't just shredded red onion and iceburg lettuce, it was the real deal with mixed greens and great toppings. Service was laid back but attentive. Overall great experience. Loved the resident cat Coco.

Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall: It's a good option to eat while in the area. If it's a nice sunny day I'd highly suggest the patio. The extended review... Food: Cheeseburger Burrito - 3.5/5 - This was pretty darn good I'd say. Literally all the fixins of a burger wrapped up and easy to eat. Service: 4/5 - Friendly service. Ambiance: 5/5 - We ate on the patio and it was amazing. You are basically eating in a forest which is amazing on a nice warm sunny day.

Nice little spot with amazing food, service and quite ambiance. We tried the fish and chips, pesto garlic pasta, pizza and kids hotdog. The appetizer we tried was the mazo platter, def try that!!!

Fantastic food, service, and views. We got the fish tacos and ate on the back patio. They were delicious, and our server Kara was great. Definitely going to visit again sometime.

Epic, absolutely epic! So we're tooling north on 1 enjoying the amazing views when nighttime sneaks up on us. We hit the mother lode when we pulled into the Fernwood Tavern/Restaurant/Motel/Grocery/Store. The 1 is scary at night if you've never driven it so we were lucky to find the Fernwood. We got their overflow room that they only rent out when the place is totally packed, while teeny tiny with no tv the room is spotless and reasonably priced. The restaurant is straight out of an LL Bean catalog, rustic yet comfortable. We shared the Tri-tip nachos and I was surprised how good they were plus the Bud Light was cold so basically this place was perfect. We got the overflow room which they only rent out when every other room is gone, it's absolutely tiny but very clean and comfortable. If you're in the area stop in, you can thank me later.

    Buffalo chicken salad.

Their menu was limited and not very good. The best thing we are was their pizza. Their salad was not good, their burger was dry and their wings were kind of gross. At least the staff was nice.

    Mold and water damage.
    Joseph D.

I stayed a night in one of what they called there upgraded rooms. It was nothing more than a shack. No TV, No mini fridge, No microwave, No air-conditioner, The WiFi only works if you're standing in the check in office, The bathroom smell of mold! Most likely due to the large amount of water damage around shower. The floor is badly sloped down hill to the back off the room. Be careful you may roll out of bed if you ever fall asleep. I suspect the building may be sliding down the hillside! It's mind boggling that they charge $220 a night to stay here. If you have a decent size vehicle you maybe better off sleeping in it.

Love the outdoor patio underneath the trees. They have a ping pong table and it's dog-friendly. Jalapeño poppers and the Cubana were

    An amazing Tri-trip sammich.

JK I booked this on points a year in advance because it was the best way to get the cheapest point redemption at 45k points per night. Sadly this is going away with the devaluation... Ok onto the food, service, and vibes. Food - The breakfast was phenomenal...don't sleep on this place! While the dinners were also great. It's definitely memorable when you think about where you are and how the food is so darn good. It has a farm to table vibe while tasting like fine dining. The standouts to me was the Ventana Breakfast (basic but so goood) and the Branzino (catch of the day) which was cooked to perfection. Service - The breakfast service was sort of a miss on one day where they forgot my avocados to go with my Ventana Breakfast but we had great service at dinner. Our dinner servers on one night was Leo and he was so pleasant and kind of reminded me of Pedro Pascal lol Vibes - Each time we came here the music was exactly what I wanted. From sunset vibes like Tycho to 2000's soft rock....each meal had the right energy. It was relaxing but still upbeat. I found myself smiling and being grateful for being able to experience such a resort and restaurant! Overall I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5. The inconsistency in service was surprising but it wasn't a big deal. I highly recommend staying here at least once! Especially if you need a break from city life but are too bougie for real camping lol

Service was quite slow, took a least an hour to get our entree and the food tasted like fairly average restaurant. None of the dishes really stood out or felt particularly memorable. One thing we did appreciate was that the restaurant is very dog-friendly and even offers a menu for dogs, which was a nice touch. The outdoor seating area was also beautiful, especially during sunset, making for a great dining atmosphere. Breakfast was definitely the better meal. There was a wide variety of options to choose from, including fresh-pressed juices, and everything we tried was flavorful and enjoyable. The quality and selection were noticeably better than dinner. Overall, the meals were okay, but I expected a lot more given that this restaurant is part of a Hyatt Category 8 property. The setting and breakfast were highlights, but the dinner experience didn't quite live up to expectations.

You won't regret it. Solstice is the newest restaurant on the Hwy 1 "block" and is well on its way to becoming a classic Big Sur dining experience. My expectations last week, when I first sat down to experience Solstice with a group of friends, were high but soon surpassed after my first sip of a unique, crafted cocktail (the Naked Local) and a first course of smoked Brokaw avocado with caviar, cultured cream, and pickles. It got even better from there. After a superb second course of Koda Farms Heirloom rice plus Monterey squid tagliatelle, we were served our respective main courses which my friends generously shared. I have to admit I was less generous with my fantastic duck with morels, nettles and gnocchi. From there, we all sailed into a fantastic sampling of unique and delicious desserts. Wine was amazing, thanks to the deep expertise of one of the owners, Matthew Peterson, and the food - well, I can't say enough about Chef Tim Eelman and his talented crew. Service was also amazing. A final note on the environment: What drives a great dining experience is, of course, the food and memorable service, but Solstice has also created a uniquely beautiful dining environment of beautiful surfaces, interesting art, evocative lighting and an overall ambience that wrapped our dining experience in a glamorous cocoon. Hyperbole? Maybe, but I'm rarely moved to write reviews. The vibes are here but it all stops there…read more.. Let me start by saying that I love this place. Just needs a bit of cleaning up on their transparency. The 'keep it open' policy is something I appreciate but would also appreciate an itemized receipt when you close out. Here's why to keep your eye out when drinking at this establishment. 1- when you close out, it's helpful to verify what you consumed to ensure you're corrected charged. My receipt was the merchant copy and the customer copy. Itemized? Really had to ask for it. 2- the merchant copy - it asked for a tip and the total amount. When we closed out our beer and well drink, it was ~$28. Weird, right? So my thought was that they clearly charged something incorrect. 3- when there's something automatically charged, it had better be communicated to me upfront. The gratuity was automatically added and IT WAS 20%! No sign, no way to notify me that it was already added. It didn't even say so on the merchant or customer copy. On top of that, the copy asked for AN ADDITIONAL TIP. For something like that, I had better get great service. 4- The service here is spotty at best. There's usually one bartender for the often busy bar. Not a problem, usually. But with that high of a price, better serve your customers well and have a fully stocked bar. 5 - the options were lacking. Two things you'd think would be stocked but weren't - espresso (come on, even Kahlua) and apple liqueur for an espresso martini and appletini were too much to ask for, I guess. Overall, a disappointment. Good thing they have the vibes nearly right. But awful business practices.

It is like something out of a DREAM literally. lol. It is settled perfectly on the edge of the Carmel hills overlooking a gorgeous view of the ocean, beach, and towns houses. The views are MESMERIZING and breathtaking on a sunny day. This is one of the most SPECTACULAR, epic date spots you can ever imagine. It's also such a beautiful place to bring family and loved ones. It honestly reminds me of something so beautiful like out of the movies. Everything is. PERFECT. We arrived at an odd hour (3:40pm) and it wasn't the prime lunch/ dinner time unfortunately but we were lucky enough to arrive during their Happy Hour selection time. Yay! It is definitely a less extensive menu but you get a nice little discount of 20% (?) which is honestly great. We requested to sit on the outside terrace and OMG ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! Words cannot express the absolute BEAUTY and MAJESTIC views that you see from the terrace. AMAZING! (Please see my photos/views lol.) Since we had a limited menu at the time we chose 3 items to share. We decided on the Short Rib Tostone, Fritto Misto, and the Gilroy Garlic Truffle Fries. Yummy! Also for drinks we ordered the Coconut Tide and Mezcal Paloma. Mm mm! We were highly impressed by the drinks and food here. Everything was GREAT. The drinks are sooo flavorful, visually appealing, and decently strong. The food was DELICIOUS and plated beautifully. The Short Rib Tostone was my favorite for sure, it's lovely and packed with sooo much flavor. It's also plated like a masterpiece. Compliments to the chef. The Fritto Misto is your classic calamari paired with yams that are perfectly toasted and the green aioli sauce gives it the perfect dash of flavor. The Garlic Truffle fries had lovely flavor also and just a heads up the portion is HUGEEEEEE. It's so humongous we laughed about it so much. lol. I would highly recommend the fries for a family appetizer it could easily feed 4/5 people. Definitely a great deal. :) Overall I am COMPLETELY IN LOVE with this location. I cannot say enough good things about it, the beauty of this restaurant and location is BEYOND WORDS. lol. I will definitely be coming back to dine here anytime I am in town. My plus one and I we're celebrating a special occasion, and we love an excuse to enjoy a panoramic view of an ocean sunset. To that end this place met our expectation. It's located just outside Carmel city center and up a hill next to a high-end hotel. Parking can be found in their structure, but there is a steep walk down to the restaurant, something to consider if you are wearing heels or have knee issues. We were seated right up against the window with an amazing view of the water. We timed it so that we will see the sunset towards the end of our meal, which worked out wonderfully. For that, we were grateful. The quality of our meal was exceptional; however, the portions were minuscule and that to me justified, dropping a star for my review. For an appetizer, I ordered the crabcakes, which I thought would be plural. However, they brought us a single one on a plate to share. It was arguably one of the best crabcakes that I have ever eaten, and would compare favorably to any place that I've tried on the East Coast. My scallops were also cooked to perfection, but we had been hiking at point Lobos earlier in the day and despite a decent lunch earlier in the day, they were not enough to satiate my appetite. My +1 ordered the cioppino, which had a generous array of different shellfish. Pasta, however, was only available for an extra cost. We tried a couple of desserts that were also delicious, but did little to stave my appetite. I was embarrassed that I had to stop at a convenience store on the way back to our hotel in Carmel to pick up a chicken wrap after the extravagant price that we paid for dinner at Pacific's Edge Restaurant, but I suppose that I should have made better menu choices. Nevertheless, I felt as though I had been served a couple of appetizers and not an actual meal.
