    Seafood Pasta
    Michael J.

Excellent lunch a week ago yesterday. Lovely place! I love the layout with multiple small dining rooms, utilizing their space very effectively. Food was delicious! We started with the calamari and onion rings appetizers. More restaurants should make their own onion rings. It makes all of the difference in the world! These were phenomenal! My wife and her mother shared the seafood pasta. I had the bacon cheeseburger with French fries. Superior selection of premium wines by the glass. Service was excellent, attentive, professional, and friendly.

Nice enough ambience but the food took forever (close to 30 mins wait time), and we saw tables that placed their order after us getting their food long before we did? The burger was alright but the steak was just okay especially for what you're paying, I think the only thing we were happy with was the spiced pear cocktails which were very smooth and strong. No one checked in with us for long periods of time and it didn't seem very busy so... Won't be back.

    Ahi Tuna June 2026

We took a lighter approach to dinner when we came here and decided just to do an appetizer then hop to other spots around the neighborhood. We opted for the ahi tuna which was served "nacho" style. The flavors were delicious and the wonton crisps were crunchy, light and airy!

Best Benedict I've ever had! Sauce was amaze, eggs were perfectly extra runny and crab was fresh. 5 stars

Bistro like place with a stellar crab eggs benedict for brunch. Food: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 4 Cost to worth it rating: 2.5 (~$30 each for Benedict and burger) Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: sure Eve award: best Benedict ever Highlights: - Crab avocado benedict: everything about this was perfection. The crab was a pile of fresh meat on its own--not dressed, not in a crabcake--pure and delightful. The avocado was sliced at just the right size and creamy and fresh. The egg itself was a wonder: warm and poached better than I'd ever seen for maximum runny yolkness. And the sauce: showstopper. Perfect balance of richness but not too thick of a texture resulting in a silkyness. The flavor though, mind blowing. Not sure what the extra ingredient was to add an oomph to it--almost reminiscent of a sherry or cognac. Paired with potatoes to dip into the sauce and a large cup of fruit. Benedicts are my go to brunch item so I've had a bunch and this wins hands down. If it was a football game compared to the others, the score would be 49-0. 5+ stars!!! Wines: apparently they have 25k different bottles of wine and a thick wine menu bible. - Ports: unique selection. Many large formats and older ones you don't typically see. My hub was excited about his 1970 Sandeman. Sediment is expected for something that old, but it could've been strained to filter it out as there was a lot at the bottom of his glass. Midlights: - Burger: good size, cooked well, on a square ciabatta bun. Cheese and bacon were there, but didn't add too much to the flavor. Fries were double fried and nice and crispy. 3 stars Lowlights: - Pretty dead at lunchtime inside - They have signs outside highlighting their patio, but didn't have an option on opentable to book the patio and they didn't offer it when we checked in.

I wanted to eat lunch somewhere that had great ambiance. Found it and made reservations. Parking is not fun here but we managed. It's very close to downtown which I love. It has a very cute, fancy, cottage feel to it. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and they were very accommodating. The food was delicious! I'm going on a girls trip soon and we are headed to Carmel, so I will recommend this place to my girlfriends.

    Braised Short Ribs

Simply amazing. From the moment we arrived the restaurant provides such a welcoming environment. The food and ambiance were exceptional. We had two orders of the Filet Mignon and one order of the Braised Short Ribs. The steaks were cooked to perfection, extremely tender and flavorful. The Braised Short Ribs had wonderful texture. Both paired excellent with our wine. The deserts were equally amazing, we had the crème brûlée and tiramisu, but our favorite was the strawberry shortcake. They have a superior wine list. Grasing's has received the Grand Award by Wine Spectator, which only less than 100 restaurants worldwide receive such recognition. We appreciate the manager for taking the time to check on our table. A special thank you to Steven, Jose, and Jesus for making our evening memorable with their service and attention to detail.

There are many places to dine in Carmel. We decided to experience Grasing's based on their reputation for excellence. Dinner was in celebration of a birthday. We had reservations and arrived a little early and were seated immediately. Our table was a window location facing 6th street. The table was decorated with Happy Birthday greetings along with a birthday card. Service from Andrew was prompt and food delivery timely. We chose to share a filet Mignon and the chef accommodated us preparing half medium rare and half well done. The steak was cooked to perfection. Our sides were a loaded baked potato that was large enough for two people and Brussel sprouts that was enough for four people. A complementary chocolate desert was the finale to an excellent birthday celebration. Grasing's should be on your dining list when in Carmel

The food was great!! Steak we both got medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The chef did a great job!! Inside the restaurant is quite packed in so our table was a little small and there was not a lot of personal space around anyone's tables. Our server was great, we were very taken care of the whole night. However, we did have to wait around 30 minutes outside the restaurant even though we booked a reservation for 6pm in advance. Because we got seated late, we stayed until they closed and it felt like we were being rushed out. Overall the food was phenomenal. If I were to come here again I would maybe just order and take it back to our hotel, not sure if this restaurant does togo orders but I don't know if I could recommend this place to others given my experience.

Delicious! Tasty!! Well worth it. Excellent service! At least 2 people have recommended this restaurant when we got into Carmel. We didn't have a reservation, but we really wanted to try it since it was highly recommended. They gave us the option of sitting at the bar area which had some tables. The plus in sitting at the bar area is that you can order from their regular menu and the bar menu. I ordered the Sole Menuire and hubby ordered the Grilled bistro rib eye steak, 10oz which included French fries and salad. His steak was from the bar menu. We had also ordered the octopus as the starter and that was very tasty. The service was excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant and making reservations prior to going. But if you don't and don't mind, the bar seating was great too.

Lovely Birthday Dinner with My Daughter and our small chihuahua, Louie. Since my husband had golf at pebble beach and it's my birthday weekend: My daughter and I celebrated my birthday again with our small Chihuahua at Grasing's, and it turned out to be such a sweet and memorable evening. The staff was welcoming right from the start and made us feel comfortable dining with our Louie boy. At first, our waiter (Frey) seemed a bit off, maybe just having a long day -- but he really warmed up as the night went on and ended up making the experience special for us. The food was absolutely delicious! The standout for me was the ceviche -- fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. And the lemon drop cocktail? Incredible. I'd come back just for that drink alone! Lol Overall, a charming spot in Carmel with great food and a cozy vibe. Would definitely return.

Our early Father's Day lunch celebration at Grasing's went amazingly well and we all left happy and satisfied! From the ambience to the food and the service, we love them all! We had our puppy with us so we were on the look for a dog friendly restaurant. Grasing's is a few block away from the busy Main Street of downtown Carmel. It looks quaint and cottage-like from the outside. The server quickly checked us in and led us to our table in the cute patio behind the restaurant. There are around 5-6 tables at most at the patio. I highly recommend you make a reservation first before you come as tables are filled fast within 10-15 minutes of our arrival (around 12:15pm on a Saturday). We love that the patio is tucked away in a cute alley who gives us privacy. Our server was so attentive. They prompt brought us water and menu. And water and menu for my puppy as well! There are dog beds of all sizes you may use to make your puppy as comfortable as possible. We were so pleased with how attentive our server was. When we asked him to recommend a bottle of wine for us, he took time to ask about our preferences and helped us picked out the best bottle for our taste. He was so patient too to let us taste 2-3 types of wines before we decided which one we liked the best. The food was of generous portion. We particularly enjoyed the crab cakes. We recently came back from Baltimore, Maryland, where crab cakes were well known. Grasing's crab cakes are very comparable with what Baltimore has to offer. Other dishes were tasty and freshly made. We all licked our plates clean Overall, highly recommend Grasing's, especially if you have your fur baby with you!

Beet salad with pear, walnuts and feta

I have been to Grasings a few times. I like the decor. It's nice but not too noisy. Fancy, but not stuffy. Indoor and outdoor seating - although I prefer indoor with Carmel evening weather. The food has been consistently good. This time we had the Dover sole and the fresh halibut with a side of beet salad.

Southern Spring Carrot Cake with buttermilk cream cheese frosting, caramel sauce, and with crystalized walnuts
    Regina L.

The front dining room where we were seated for our reservation is classy and no matter how many of us dined in that front part of Grasing's, the noise level was just right and kept the ambiance perfect for our dinner. In addition, I enjoyed facing the window and seeing people walking by and seeing the outdoors of the beautiful Carmel neighborhood where we were. Our server did such an excellent job answering our questions and paid attention to my dietary restrictions. He gave us details about the wine list and gave the superb 2023 Kuranui, Marlborough, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc recommended pairing that was perfect with my seafood squid ink pasta and side of veggies. Our food arrived in such a timely manner and the staff refilled our waters without our needing to ask. They checked on us often which we greatly appreciated. The portions of our delicious prawn scampi, seafood pasta, and veggie dishes, were perfect. We were comfortably full. Our grand finale of mouth watering desserts of Southern Spring Carrot Cake with buttermilk cream cheese frosting, caramel sauce, and crystalized walnuts and vanilla bean crème brûlée were decadent. I absolutely love Carmel and hope to dine in Grasing's again in the future!

    Ask the Community - Grasing's

    What is the noise level?

Depends...when I went for lunch on a weekday day it was quiet. Might be more vibrant in the evening and/or weekends.

    Does Grazings serve foie gras?

Not when we were there last. But the menu does change. Best to simply call them I think.

Do they have any true vegetarian dishes?

    Very limited

    Are they dog friendly?

Yes! Outdoor patio is dog friendly.

Nothing catastrophic happened, but it felt like we were inconveniencing staff rather than being welcomed. We experienced multiple instances where basic hospitality was lacking. At meals, we often had to ask for water, request the check, and follow up on things that should have been proactive. One evening we came downstairs for dinner around 8:25 PM and were told the kitchen stopped taking orders 30 minutes before the restaurant closed. While that's certainly their policy, it wasn't communicated beforehand and the interaction felt more dismissive than apologetic. There were several small moments like this throughout our stay. Individually they may seem minor, but together they created an atmosphere that felt awkward, rushed, and inattentive. Given Carmel's reputation for hospitality and the price point of the hotel, we expected a much warmer and more polished experience. The inn itself has a lot of charm, and we enjoyed the area, but the level of service simply didn't match the setting or our expectations.
