Crooked! Had accident and police called Ferra for tow. Shop demanded $750 to get my car off their lot. Then they wanted 70 per day for storage. Without collision insurance I ended up selling the car to them for scrap. What a racket! read more

This person asked me where it was towed from and they said they don't come to that area & they just called me back saying they don't appreciate me badmouthing their business and that they Have no record of it being in Their possession.Frank Wallace For Allstate Insurance notified us to come To Ferra's because the car had been reported stolen .The Street directly behind 861 Marshall ave is MaGinn Street.thats where the car was taken From !! They overcharge you when you are down. Was in a wreck on the turnpike, the turnpike chose the tow company to call before was even checked by paramedics. When i went to settle up with Ferra's for the tow, it was $400 for a tow 20 minutes up the street IF i also let them keep the car. $1,000 if i wanted the car back. No doubt the turnpike got a cut of that and Ferra's was laughing all the way to the bank off of my misfortune read more

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! I would give Ferra's company a zero if I could. This is the biggest scam that I have ever seen. I have heard about these towing companies who are in with the local police. I own a fleet of vehicles and I have been in business for 12 years. I have always told my employees to never have the police call for a tow truck. Well, last week one of my employees was rear-ended in Pittsburgh. The police called Ferra's Automotive services. I received the bill. The distance was 10 miles. Ferra's charged me $310. I called and spoke to the manager. He said they have special prices for towing if the police call. They triple the price of the towing. Ferra's is fraudulent. The company is using price gouging practices charging unexpected prices for the tow. They charge different prices depending on who calls the tow in. They triple the price of the tow if the police call in the crash. They totally know what they are doing. As soon as I said something to the manager he became very defensive and said that they don't gouge their customers. I have been in business for 12 years, I have never not paid a bill. Ferra's company will be the first company. I will refuse to pay. They can take me to court. read more

They are the "authorized" tow center for the section of PA turnpike where we broke down with a flat on our utility trailer. Sent out a tow truck and driver who was unable to remove a tire/rim from our trailer. His "attempt" to remove the wheel was futile he said the only tools he had were a manual lug wrench and wd-40 so he had to call in a flat-bed to haul the trailer somewhere else. They decided it was necessary to drive BOTH trucks to the auto-repair shop that I had contacted at the next interchange. I was charged mileage for both trucks...totally unnecessary. If the mechanic at the repair center hadn't been there I think we would STILL be waiting to offload the flat-bed, he had to tell these 2 guys how to offload. (he also was a former tow-truck driver and said that had he been on the call the repair would have happened road-side. ) The mechanic at the repair center had the wheel removed and new rim/tire installed in less time than it took Ferras to figure out how much they were going to charge me. I saw the 2-star review for Ferra's after-the-fact and totally agree that they are a rip-off. Beware of the PA turnpike recommendations. If they recommend this company, tell them to try again. read more

Very upsetting to see only negative reviews on here when my experience was extremely wonderful. Someone wrecked into my car and ferras came to tow it. The tow driver was extremely nice and was attentive to answer any questions I had (never been in a serious accident before so I was a wreck when it happened!) any time I had questions about my car or what was going on I just called the shop and they were super helpful. Went to pick my vehicle up today and it looks and runs great so far. read more

In the middle of the night I needed a tow, which was done on time which I was grateful for. The tow man was courteous and helpful. However this review is not about the tow man but the business. Two days later I showed up early in the morning to pay my bill and get my belongings out of my vehicle so that I can take the Greyhound home. They wouldn't let my finance go through my vehicle to get our stuff while I waited in line to pay the bill. Our bus was leaving in 45 min from downtown Pittsburgh, they knew this but still would not allow my finance access to the car so that our time is used efficiently and she organizes and packs our stuff while work out the bill in the office. That wasn't the biggest problem. I had to hire a car transporter to get my vehicle out of Ferras to another mechanic shop close to home. The people in the office said that they would not help the driver of the car transporter push the car from the lot onto the street so that he can load it onto the tractor trailer (keep in mind that my car doesn't turn on). They said that they will be willing to steer the vehicle while the driver pushes and that if that they would charge an additional $150 if they need to use one of their vehicles to move it out. I couldn't believe it. All I was asking for, is what any good samaritan would do, to just help the driver push the vehicle off their gravel lot onto to the street so that the driver can load it onto the trailer. They said that we will not help push and that we can use a vehicle for $150 extra charge. There are plenty of other mechanic shops that are down to earth, that sympathize with the customer and help them out. Not these people. They are all about the dollar. read more

After an accident on Rt 28, Ferra's was the first tow truck on the scene, and the state troopers required us to let them tow the car rather than waiting for a tow from the local AAA affiliate. At the scene, tow truck driver said he'd contact us with an estimate of damage. A week later we haven't heard anything so we call and they give a $15,000 estimate for repair. (Blue book on the car was $3500.) The bill for towing the car ~2 miles with a simple wheel lift truck: $225 towing fee $50 clean-up fee $35 admin fee $450 storage fee = $760 They graciously offered to take the title to the car plus the $225 towing fee as payment. This being my first experience with a tow from an accident scene, I don't know whether this is standard practice but they've been terrible to us -- certainly not people I'll ever voluntarily do business with. read more

Terrible experience. Truck was tiwed and was told by front desk that I could pick my truck up after 430. I would just have to call and they would send somebody down. Called at 600 and was told that the guys were all out on tows and it would be an hour. 90 minutes later a truck showed up. The guy wouldn't even stop for half a second to hear me out. He said he just stopped to use the bathrrom and would have to wait for the next guy. He hit the road wi th out another word. Its now closing in on 8. Still no word back from them yet.... read more

Bad Service, Over priced, Rude very rude everyone who works there was rude to me. I'll never deal with them again, I'd rather push my car, then have even look at my car. when the tow truck driver either pulled my car onto the flat bed or pulled it down he bent not only my tie rod ends but also ripped a brake hose. The shop where I got it towed to showed me where he put the J hooks and how he cost me over $500 in unneeded repairs!!! After calling for a week, being put on hold & hung up on I finally got someone on the phone. They laughed, ask if I could prove to a judge they did it. Then hung up on me. NEVER AGAIN read more

AWFUL AWFUL They were very nice to me but ripped me off Big-time. I assume just because I had my vehicle towed there. They knew I was most likely not going to tow it somewhere else after getting a bad estimate. Just recently had upper and lower lateral links and also sway bar links replaced on my Acura TL. Only on one side! Forked me with a 984 dollar bill. Completely unbelievable. Charged me 248 dollars for a lateral link which costs nowhere near that, 44 dollars for each sway bar link, 95 for an alignment, and another 500 some dollars in labor (90/hr labor rate here) 125 to tow it 14 miles which I had a quote from a towing company in Greensburg that would tow it back to a shop I trust in Greensburg for 225 dollars. Apparently I should have taken that option. Oh well,you live and learn and next time I'll know what to do and hopefully you will listen to these reviews which I read but thought oh they probably just had a bad experience. But no, it is true. I didn't complain to them because I know God knows all. Peace. read more
