I sent Mike Burke a picture of the lawn and asked him to stop by to see if anything could be done or additional seed put down. He agreed, but never showed up. Weeks passed and I got the usual run around. After I finally got a hold of him it was July and he agreed to reseed at the end of August. When that time came, I purchased the seed, but multiple attempts to get Mike Burke to even stop by have failed. One of his text messages read: "For short money how am I going to come back for free. Don't bother me". I ended up reseeding the lawn myself. In short, Mike Burke does not stand behind his work at all. He is condescending and his word means absolutely nothing. Landscaping is not a perfect science, but there should be some level of professionalism. Hopefully people reading this and considering hiring Mike Burke Landscaping will learn from my experience.

I am absolutely impressed with the team of roofing professionals from Ferreira Company (www.ferreiraroofing.com) who came to my home yesterday to take care of removing snow, ice, icicles, and ice dams from my roof and gutters. Water was leaking through two ceilings and also through one ceiling light fixture too -- all because of Old Man Winter hosting a Snow/Ice party on my roof with party guests including: good ol' Frosty the Snow Man, the Snow Queen, and Princess Elsa from the movie Frozen. Adrian communicated with me on his arrival time, arrived promptly, and the equipped team of workers immediately started the job and worked incessantly without breaks until the entire job was done. You could easily tell that this team was experienced and had done this sort of thing many, many times before. Thanks to Ferreira Company, I am happy to say that the winter-long party is now over, no more frosties are spilling over the edge of the roof, and that the entire ice castle has been destroyed! And now I can move onto the next step in dealing with the water damage inside of my house, now that the source of the problem has been addressed. In choosing a roofing contractor, I was extremely selective because I am always careful about how I spend my money, especially when it comes to larger expenses. I chose Ferreira for several reasons: they have 10 plus years of experience in dealing with this sort of problem, they were able to answer all my many detailed questions patiently and with ease due to their breadth of expertise, and VERY IMPORTANTLY, they are licensed and bonded (because you don't want anyone not licensed to be performing such dangerous work, never mind someone inexperienced getting hurt on your property). I had called or spoken to at least 3 other contractors and weeded them out for many different reasons and I was so happy to find this company because they met all of my requirements and more. I was very worried that a contractor wouldn't be able to help me at all because I had 3 foot high snow (no exaggeration!) on my deck, no easy access to the roof because there was no snow clearance or path on the ground surrounding my home, and to make matters worse, I had a car stuck on ice in the driveway - so I was not even sure the roofing truck could get past it to perform the work at hand. Meanwhile, I had water leaking inside my home so you can imagine my personal stress level at the time I made the call. But Adrian, who I think may be the manager of operations and/or owner, calmly put all of my worries at ease and said it was "no problem" to every matter at hand and that they would take care of "everything" - and they did exactly that! Most other contractors would have probably said "it will be x more dollars" for this and that or would refuse to do the work with such obstacles. To boot, Adrian and his team got my car unstuck from the driveway (which isn't what they were hired for - Adrian just kindly volunteered to do it, even as busy as he was, because he wanted to help). That kind, personal gesture really made a difference in our lives and took one more headache off of our plates. On a final note, I wanted to also mention that Adrian listened intently, was so nice and personable and you can just tell that he cares not only for his business, and the dedicated employees working for him, but just for PEOPLE in general. Adrian, a very busy man handling no doubt 100's of calls from panicked homeowners each day especially during this ridiculous winter, was absolutely hands-on during the job working with the team while still overseeing all tasks for added quality assurance. Additionally, he generously offered helpful tips for preventing future problems (which again, most contractors wouldn't share because they want the future business!). It was my impression that Adrian just enjoys helping people and that is his fundamental motivation -- which no doubt is why the Ferreira business thrives. To no surprise, it was also evident that his loyal employees had deep respect for him and enjoyed working for him. Bottom line, in my opinion, happy employees do great work because of the role model(s) in positions above them who are setting the stage and performance criteria for exceptional outcomes and treating their employees respectfully and gratefully -- like they are part of one happy, unified family with common goals and values. Ferreira Company is a first class act and you get what you pay for. If you have snow, ice, icicles, ice dams, and/or leaking water from your roof, don't wait another minute and just call Ferreira so they can help prevent and minimize any possible damage to your home. We are eternally grateful and extremely grateful and extremely relieved that our roof and gutters are clear for the next storm. I found Ferreira Company on the Better Business Bureau (BBB), while researching roofing companies to replace my mother's roof. Adrian, the owner, is professional- he promptly responded to my messages as I was the contact for the job (email, text, voicemail), the time frame given for the roof/gutter replacement was accurate and no debris were left behind on the property. He is fully licensed and insured (Certainteed shingles is what I chose). I did not have any issues nor delays when I requested insurance and Certainteed certification information as well as references from recent roof replacement customers. Best of all, he provides a competitive price!!! There was a minor mix up regarding materials on my mother's property for another project of hers- mainly because of workers language barrier, which was promptly resolved without incident when I contacted Adrian. Customer service is very important to me, and my expectations were met. Definitely had a great experience doing business with Ferreira Company and would recommend them to anyone. I've been a realtor in Taunton, MA for 16 years and I've been using and referring the Ferreira Company for the past 10 years. Adrian is as honest and professional as it gets. So when it came time to re-roof my personal home I called Adrian to come out and give me a quote. Adrian came out right away and told me that since I've referred multiple clients to him throughout the years that he was going to do the work "free of charge"! You just don't see that kind of business and loyalty anymore in today's world...And of course he sent a full crew the next weekend and they stripped at re-shingled my house in 1 day. He came by, spent about 10 min walking around, rang the doorbell and gave me a sheet of paper with the quote. Easy and painless as that. I asked for roof quote and got exactly what I wanted. He did not need to come inside or make me listen to a 2 hr sales pitch. I've had at least 2 other companies who tried to do that when I was getting a roof for the quote. 1 of them gave me a quote on sidings instead. The other did not even give me a quote because I decided to kick them out after half an hr. After getting some other quotes I decided to go with Robert and he agreed to come out 2 weeks later. His crew came on time as promised but he wasn't physically there until the end of the day. Overall his crew was efficient. They finished within 1 day as promised. The shingles looked okay, not as flat or even like our neighbors but it appeared to be just fine. They finished the roof before a big snow storm and rain/wind storm within the same week. It was able to withstand everything just fine and no noticeable water leak or anything in the attic. I did discovered a small chipped wood area in the attic which I can see some of the underlayment and shingles but water was not getting through or anything. I will continue to monitor. They actually was supposed to install the chimney as well forgot so they returned a few days later to complete it as promised. Overall fantastic job from Robert and his crew. From the quoting process to the fast efficient work. Cosmetically the shingles could have looked a bit better and more even but functionally it seems to have served its purpose and was worth it for the price I paid.
