You will not be disappointed! I have lived in the capital district my whole life, however 8 years ago my husband and I moved to Schenectady a few blocks away from Ferri Formals and Bridals. Being that my degree is in fine arts and photography (I used to own my own wedding photography business) and I am a private business owner for 17 years, of my own personal chef service, I am not only a very visual person, but I am at times a very critical consumer, with regards to a fellow business's customer service and treatment of a potential client. When I first found Ferri Formals and Bridals, it was on our daily route to our new home from most of our outings and after only a few months, I was finding myself on purpose driving home via the route that would pass their storefront, because of their absolutely stunning window displays: Elegance, Romance, Classic. This took place for 6 years before I went inside the salon for the purpose of shopping for a special event. On a very personal note I want to share that being a plus sized woman I am often swayed from even going to a formal wear boutique because of horrific experiences, that would tend to bring embarrassment by other local well known bridal store chains (that will remain nameless) and I would avoid all shops because of it. Last year I went to Ferri's with my niece to look for a dress for her senior prom. What can I say about Marylu and her entire staff; welcoming, accepting, professional, personal, knowledgeable, respectful, encouraging, honest.... I could continue, but I think you can see me point. Marylu worked with my niece personally and without even asking her size pulled several dresses from her well stocked inventory for her to try on. My niece fell in love with the first dress she tried on. Marylu was more the accommodating and truthful. I was very grateful for that. I was most impressed however by the respect and genuine concern that I felt that she had towards both of us. This week I returned to Ferri's Formals and Bridals to look for a dress for my son's upcoming wedding. Once again I was not disappointed. The first dress I tried on fit like it was waiting for me. I could not be happier. I would like to add one additional comment that I find would be crucial to add to this review. The quality of the dresses that I have seen in this bridal salon has got to be some of the most gorgeous and highest quality tapestries I have ever seen. You can't buy the service, the satisfaction, or the variety of elegance that you will find here. You have to experience it. Walking into this store truly makes you want to dream of getting married. MaryLou is amazing. Shw single handedly saved my daughters wedding by going above and beyond to order 2 maid of honor dresses for us. My daughter and 6 girls originally went to APROPOS in Latham because she stated she was an authorized Morilee retailer. That was a lie. Dresses ordered 8 months ago... two wrong dresses came in PLUS all 4 remaining dresse QR the wrong size. read below... to see the full story. Our dresses finally came in 2 days ago.. we all breathed a HUGE sigh of relieve, then quickly realized that mine and the other matron of honors dress was completely wrong!!!! Not even close to the original style!!! The bridesmaid dresses were ALL the wrong sizes!!! When these issues were brought up to her she insisted she gave me 2 sizes 2s and 2 sizes 8 dresses!!!! From beginning to end my experience at Ferri Formals & Bridals was nothing short of amazing! I began searching for my wedding dress about a year in advance. I tried on multiple gowns at multiple stores and had trouble finding "the one" that made me feel confident and beautiful. A co-worker of mine told me to check out Ferri Formals & Bridals and I figured I had nothing to lose, so I made an appointment. Upon my arrival for my first appointment my mother and I were walked to a private bridal dressing room. The consultant was extremely helpful in pulling exactly what I wanted to see and offering assistance with getting in and out of each gown. I only tried on three dresses and I found "the one". I obviously needed the approval of my family and made another appointment to come back. Upon arrival for the second appointment, my family and I were again walked to the private bridal dressing room. The consultant was thrilled that I was back with my family to show them the dress. I decided to purchase the dress. The consultant ensured my measurements were accurate and took the time to go through all paperwork carefully with me. I had my first fitting and everything was handled with complete professionalism. I had my final fitting and had the pleasure of working with Marylu. Marylu made sure everything was exactly the way I wanted it. I'm also extremely self conscious about my back (my dress is strapless) and Marylu offered comforting words at a time when I was a little down on myself. I also decided during my fitting that I didn't really love the veil that I picked originally, Marylu quickly offered an alternative and found me a veil that I LOVE! The last thing I want to add about Ferri Formals & Bridals is that I was so impressed by the fact that they carried sizes in store for what is typically considered "plus size" in bridal world. I've bought several formal dresses at Ferri's over the years and always found a great selection. Several years ago I bought my daughter's beautiful Prom gown there and was amazed that the price, though quite high, was substantially less than other online businesses. Frankly, it amazes me to this day that I was willing to spend such an absurd price for a gown my child would probably only wear once. But I digress. My most recent experience at Ferri was for a wedding I was going to be attending. I had met the owner, MaryLu, while shopping at Macy's several months ago and immediately liked her. She's a smart and funny woman and we had fun talking while waiting on line at the cashier. Flash forward to my desire to buy a new dress to wear to an August wedding and I immediately went to Ferri. It so happens that I have unusual taste in formal attire, preferring the unique rather than the traditional. After trying on about 10 beautiful but not really me dresses, I was getting discouraged when I then I decided one last time to look at the clearance rack in the back room downstairs. Suddenly I noticed an off-the-shoulder two-piece black satin ensemble trimmed with a gold tapestry-like band. It even had a matching neck piece; the whole ensemble was stunning and exactly ME. It was a mere $99 (final sale) and alterations cost about the same but this was no ordinary outfit. I had worn a bra during the fitting but for the wedding I chose instead to use the built in bra. I won't do that next time. Service at Ferri wonderful. The staff people are patient, very helpful and honest. That's a winning combination. With MaryLu almost always involved with helpful suggestions, this is the place to go for formal wear. Located on upper Union Street in the Niskayuna/Schenectady corridor, the store is filled with incredibly beautiful formal selections. They went above and beyond to help me in a crazy situation! Amazing customer service and timely responses! I was set to be in a wedding where the entire wedding party was on Long Island. The bride picked a dress while I was not there and had to try to find it at a local shop. She told me the designer name and style number. All the shops told me it was discontinued until I called Ferri Formals. They explained if it was recently discontinued that it could possibly still be available. The called the designed and checked then called me right back to say yes I could still get it if I ordered it ASAP. Their late hours durning the week allowed me to go in after work. The shop was nice, clean and happy! Amazing staff and well stocked with dress choices and sizes. I try on a similar dress for size and place the order. After store hours the bride called me to say she wasn't sure about what I ordered since her shop said it wasn't discontinued and thought I was being given the run around. I was not! Turns out she had the wrong dress designer and information! I e-mailed them at 9:30pm desperate to put the order on hold since the bride didn't have the right info. They replied right away and assured me they'd call to clarify the next day. Due to issues with the bride I decided to drop out of the wedding, Ferri's let me cancel the order the next day and immediately refunded me. They provided me with a receipt and even asked if there was anything they could do to allow me to still be in the wedding. They genuinely cared about my concerns and needs which was more than can be said about the bride. I will gladly go back to get any formal gowns there and should I ever get married I will gladly send my bridesmaids there for their dresses. read more

So I was really nervous about trying on dresses. I have never been a size two and trying on sample sizes was a big anxiety for me. I was afraid that I would love something and not be able to put it on. Marylu and her staff were absolutely amazing! Never once did I feel like my size was the problem. Yes of course the samples were a little small but Marylu told me don't worry you are going to get it on and get an idea of what you might like. Not only were they conscientious of my feelings but actually really listened to what I wanted. I found the gown. It was the third dress I tried on. And I LOVE it. I absolutely cannot imagine getting married in any other dress. The Ferri Formals staff also helped me with my bridesmaids selections. It was a big deal for me because I have been in several weddings and understand how expensive it can be. I gave a budget of what I wanted the dresses to cost, not only did Marylu and her team come under that budget but blew it out of the park. They had a ton of styles, brands, and colors, to choose from and were very accommodating to the fact that I have 8 bridesmaids, 5 of whom are out of towners. Lastly my mom. My mom deserved the absolute best mother of the bride dress there was. She is the hardest working, most loving, and giving person I know. I wanted her to have whatever she wanted. And just when I thought Marylu and Ferri Formals met their match in my amazing but very particular mom, they hit that out of the park too by simply thinking out of the box. I could not have asked for a better team and experience. My wedding planning has been very easy and stress-less and that is large in part due to Marylu and her team at Ferri Formals. My daughter who lives out of town is to be getting married in the capital region. She had an unpleasant experience at a large bridal chain near her home on the Gulf coast of Florida. Shortly before the wedding, the dress was shipped north by the chain with all intention of having it pressed at the local chain outlet. On a whim, I inquired to Ferri Formals Whether they would be willing to press the bridal gown instead of having me take it several miles away which was not convenient. I brought the dress in to Ferris. I was cheerfully greeted at the door and was treated warmly, respectfully and professionally. We were so pleased with the service, we then fitted the father of the bride for a brand new suit, shoes, shirt, and tie that were very reasonably priced. They were also able to complete alterations within our accelerated schedule. We needed to stop in a few times for miscellaneous odds and ends and were always welcomed ...and treated as if we were their only client. This was not a typical wedding dress- buying experience, as the bride lived far away from the location of the wedding, however, Ferri Formals consistently went above and beyond to assist us during this hectic time, helping us with all that we needed!! Ferri Formals & Bridals is absolutely top notch! I have lived in CT, NJ, CA, MD, and NY. I have been rented tuxedos in all of those places over the last two decades. Ferri Formals & Bridals has been the best formal shop I have ever shopped at. The manager Patty was very helpful; she knew her stuff!!! Patty was able to find exactly what I needed, and was able to assist me in making the fashion forward decisions while also focusing on my economic bottom line. This customer centric shop was able to get my rental tuxedo to fit like a custom tailored tux; that is rare because with rentals you usually get the size that is closest to your actual measurements, they are never tailored fitting. Additionally, this shop is one of the few in the area who carries "Jim's Formal Wear" which is one of the largest tuxedo retailers in the USA. This means that Ferri Formals & Bridals has access to items and products that I was not able to find at ANY other shop in the Capital Area. From the moment I met the girls at Ferri Formals and Bridals at the Albany NY wedding show at the Captial Center I knew I had to come to see them when it came time to find my wedding dress. There was no stuffy up-selling business scheme you truly feel like you are a part of a family that warm encouraging nature. I felt connected to them through their social media Instagram broadcasting models in different sizes and real people and fell in love with my dress after seeing pictures of it. From the moment I put it on I fell in love. I felt beautiful and perfect and said in mind this is the dress I'm going to meet my husband in, it was the perfect blend of romantic and sexy. We decided to get married and planned everything in 2 weeks. We were able to get everything from the caterer to a wedding dress in that short time. Seeing it was not my first marriage and that it was going to be a simple wedding in our home, I wanted to wear a long cocktail dress. I had been to several other shops and been unsuccessful. When I went to Ferri Formals, the sales woman addressed the situation immediately. She assisted in picking out a few gowns and then brought me downstairs to a fittingroom. While in there, she searched on her own. She asked if I was opposed to trying on a wedding gown. The second dress that I tried on was a wedding gown picked out by her. It was absolutely stunning and fit perfectly, with the exception that I did not want a cathedral train. Needless to say I purchased a wedding dress that day. Ferri Formals And Bridals not only dressed my sister in a beautiful wedding dress, but dressed the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and my dad in apparel that was high quality without a huge price tag! The store's customer service was incredible, ensuring that we were all comfortable and happy for this exciting time. The staff were flexible and willing to work around our schedules, to make sure we were set for the big day. Suits are also underrated here...but both the groomsmen and our dad (the father of the bride), looked incredible! My dad took time trying to find the right price for buying a suit. Surprisingly, Ferri's ended up having the best price, for a quality that you can't beat. If I could give this store 6 stars I would! I came in with the full expectation that I would not be buying a dress and was just looking. However, their current October 50% off samples sale changed that. The staff was amazing including our consultant Monica and the owner/seamstress Lena. I tried on many beautiful dresses, but finally found my dress, and it was everything I wanted it to be. The $1650 dress ended up being only $825 with the sale!!!! I had such a great appointment that after lunch next door, my bridesmaid and I came back and did round 2 and found my bridesmaids dresses as well. Incredibly nice and pleasant people - I couldn't be happier! Thank you Ferri!!! Also, FYI, this is my first Yelp rating of anything and first time I've ever had such a great appointment to want to rate something on Yelp. I can't thank the owner and staff at Ferri's enough!!! 16 days before my sisters out of state wedding we FINALLY received dresses we ordered from another local shop that were wrong! I called Ferri's in a panic and not really thinking they would help me since we didn't originally purchase there. To my surprise the owner was beyond understanding, super quick to call the designer and arrange for new dresses to be sent to her shop. I brought her the wrong dresses and she is getting us the right dresses!!! We leave for the wedding in 8 days. She has completely saved my baby sisters wedding!!! I will forever be thankful for her! I have always been a Say Yes to the Dress girl. For months I searched magazines and sites. I fell in love with a dress by Lillian West so began my search of shops that carried the dress. I spoke with the owner of Ferri Formals who was very nice and worked with me to find the dress and have the sample come to their store. I had already been to a few shops and didn't get the right vibe to buy from them nor did they have my dream dress. When I entered Ferri Formals it was a different feeling I knew this is where I would get my dress unfortunately the sample was too small to fit into. It took a few more dresses and Marylu's assurance that the dress that didn't fit was my dress. They even helped me figure out my shoes during the fitting and one of the girls helped me with my earrings. Thank you to Ferri Formals for providing the most beautiful gown for my soon to be daughter-in-law. She purchased her gown from a trunk show and wow what a selection. I was able to go with her for every fitting and visit. Maylu, the owner, oversaw every detail and made sure that things were just right. As I read the other reviews here I would say that every wedding is filled with ups and downs and the finding the perfect dress can be challenging. Emotions run high. We had our snags as well, however Marylu Aragosa guided us fairly and expertly through the process. She cares about her business and her clients. As the mother of the bride, I was looking for the perfect dress. My experience with Ferri Formals was a very positive experience. They ordered my MOB gown that came into the shop about 4 weeks before the wedding. I picked up my gown and took it to my local seamstress to be altered...who ruined the gown. There was no way I could wear the dress to my daughters wedding. I was so upset that the local seamstress ruined my very expensive gown. Now I needed to replace the gown in less then 2 weeks. I called MaryLu the shop owner and told her of my dilemma. To make everything right she offered to re-order my MOB gown and include alterations by her seamstress all at no additional cost to me, and in time for the Wedding, they delivered. I've been shopping at Ferri Formals for over seven years and have been extremely happy with the quality and selection of dresses and products, as well as, customer service. Over these past years, I have brought friends and relatives for dresses for weddings, proms and pageants, always with great success. Even though the store appears small from the outside, it holds a great number of dresses and is bigger than one may think. Most recently, we had a wonderful associate named Joelle (sp?) help us with a pageant dress. She was knowledgable and had a great sense of style. She has a great grasp of what type of dress flatters and she was very diplomatic when the dress did not. We were all very appreciative of her time and left the store very happy! I first went to Ferri Formals and Bridals for my Prom dress in 2000. The staff was very helpful and accomodating to all my needs. After alterations, I felt like a princess in my new gown. The dress was of amazing quality and I find the occasional reason to wear it, Halloween parties, ect. The shop is quaint and quiet. Staff is knowledgeable and understanding of the special needs of all different clientele, whether it is a bride in a destination wedding, an excited prom attendant, a proud mother of the bride or even an insecure bride not confident she will find the perfect dress. I have been satisfied with the dresses and acessories and referred the shop to my friends and family. I still feel the same after helping my friend order her bridesmaid dress there today. read more

This past weekend we had my daughters wedding. We needed 3 Tuxedos, father of the bride (me), her brother and a 6 year old ring bearer. Thanks to Mary Lou and Karen for their patience and knowledge. My tux was the only one that had a small problem, a little snug. We tried on the tuxedos on Wednesday for a Friday night wedding in Lake George. I needed a vest and Mary Lou suggested another jacket also to be safe. These had to be ordered from a company called Tuxedo Junction. The girls stepped up and ordered the vest and jacket and had it shipped to the hotel in Lake George guaranteed delivery before 12 noon. It arrived on time. A big thanks to Mary Lou for handling this.
