This is a beautiful Utah venue you must check out! Ashton Gardens is a 50-acre botanical garden that has 15 themed gardens, such as the Italian, Rose, Fragrance, Secret gardens and the Tree of life sculpture garden. It has gorgeous waterfalls and beautiful walking pathways throughout. (Golf carts are available to rent as well) . Also, the beautiful Monet lake with koi fish. Ashton Gardens is known for their seasonal activities like Luminaria the light festival in November thru early January. The Tulip Festival is April - May, the Imaginaria Festival is in summer and the Scarecrow Festival is in October. There is the Trellis Café on site for a bite to eat, and during many of the festivals they have little shops that sell deserts, snacks, drinks, etc. There's a Greenhouse to buy cool plants in season as well. We've been here a number of times and even though it's the 'off-season' where most of the flowers (and none of the tulips) are in bloom, it's still always beautiful. The waterfalls are wonderful. The fountains superb. The grounds are immaculate. The larger-than-life statues of the life of Christ and the whole Light the World exhibit were superb! We'd seen the life of Christ exhibit and loved it but hadn't seen the Light the World exhibit. It was spectacular. We went to the tulip festival today. It was Friday so we expected it to be crowded but it was a mad house. Wall to wall people. The flowered were at their peek though so they were wonderful. I would recommend going very early as it might have been less crowded. Parking was crazy so pay the $8.00 to get priority parking. read more

Every year we go to the gardens for an event. In the spring they have the tulip festival, last summer they did the dinosaur adventure, and in the winter they have all the light festival stuff out. They do many other events too, but those are the three most publicized. We love walking the gardens and seeing all the pretty flowers. They have a yummy little eatery on the hill by the waterfalls and they switch up the ice cream options through the year so we always try something new. My favorite was the fresh strawberries with vanilla, but the peach cobbler was good too. This is always a fun day if you have kids. My daughter and I went to the Tulip Festival ... and it did not disappoint! So many beautiful flowers! The colors, textures, fragrances, etc. An enjoyable experience for all ages. There were so many amazing displays, photo ops, and varieties of tulips. What's also awesome is later after the festival is over thanksgiving point sells the bulbs used for a super good price so you can reproduce your own amazing colorful display at home. Very fun experience for the kiddos. We have a Thanksgiving Point membership, and we have visited their summer "dinosaur island" exhibit about 4 times since mid July. We have had a great time overall, but recommend bug spray. Since last week there were several mosquitoes present, likely because the waterfall isn't running and water has pooled and stagnated in a few of the features. The staff are lovely here. Jon made sure to stop and talk to the kids as we walked around the park, and whoever is in the Utah Raptor getup is an absolute champ. Poor individual must have been sweating buckets. The first time we saw them greeting kids in the park it was 97 degrees out! The employees driving around the baby dinosaurs in the golf carts are sweet too. read more

I've had the opportunity to visit Ashton Gardens a few different times-in different seasons, too. The grounds are meticulously cared for and absolutely stunning, no matter what time of year you visit. In the winter, they do an event called "Luminaria" with lights and sculptures throughout the gardens. It's beautiful, although a little too religious for my taste. But it does look nice. In the spring, the tulip festival is a big draw-in fact, it often sells out, so snag your tickets early! While they do have many tulips, there are also plenty of other flowers to enjoy. There's even a greenhouse where you can purchase (and hand-select) your own bouquet of fresh cut tulips to take home. I love the fragrance gardens, the trellis that feels like a tunnel you get to walk through, the waterfall and the beautiful steps that lead to the top of the hill overlooking the gardens. This place is huge. I have been here just a few times. My sister got me in free every time with her membership. We went to see the Dinosaurs which was cool. We also did the Tulip festival which is beautiful. I never went to the tulip festival before because I always thought it was over priced just to walk around and look at flowers. I would never pay full price for it. I'm not sure how much it costs to look at the dinosaurs but I'm sure it's just as much or more. Getting the Thanksgiving Point Annual Pass has been the BEST decision for our family! Among all the different museums, farm country, etc. the biggest "bang for your buck" is during the Tulip Festival and being able to get in for free! Also, when you have the pass, you can get guests into the Tulip Festival for half the cost! So far, we have gone to the Tulip Festival 2 times in the past week and already have 3 more visits planned. Heads up: The tulips didn't really arrive during the first week of the festival, so make sure to go at least a week or so once the festival has started. Some things I've learned so far: 1. They have a ton of Koi fish in their pond and have a machine that takes quarters and you can get a handful of fish food to feed the koi fish. We quickly learned that the machine can run out quickly, but if you plan ahead; you can buy a bag of fish food from the gift shop before you come down to the pond in case the quarter machine is out. 2. They sometimes have free yard games to play with! They had a checkers board set out by the pond with 3 different workers there and they were ready for people to play it, so my husband and daughter enjoyed a fun checkers game. 3. Plan accordingly...it is a LONG path and if you walk through all of it, you will get a lot of steps in and some of those steps can be steep, if you need to leave in a rush, make sure you give yourself enough time to get back to the entrance. 4. If you plan on taking some professional family, baby, baptism etc pictures at the gardens with a nice camera, they expect you to pay their photography fee. It is $50 for 2 hours or $40 for Thanksgiving Point Members. After walking through the gardens a week ago, we realized that this location would be great to get some pictures for my daughters Senior photos. We noticed a few people taking baby pictures or wedding pictures and were curious if this was allowed or if there was a fee associated with it. We asked a worker and they told us the info above. We now plan on paying the fee when we take pictures this week. Overall: They have some beautiful gardens, ponds, streams, waterfalls and statues; you definitely have to come at least once to experience it! read more

Worth the money! The Gardens were beautiful and we happened to come when they had massive dinosaur statues and fun things for little kids. Very family friendly. We loved the Jesus statues and appreciated the Bible stories. The statues leading to the tree were confusing and we often didn't know what they were. We didn't realize until halfway through we should have scanned the QR code. The garden is lacking good signage leading to these sections and we had to stop several people and ask if we were going in the right direction. We were happy we stopped at the Gardens. read more

As a garden geek through and through, I am in awe of Ashton Gardens. I've been a handful of times over the last couple of years, and it's been fun to see the gardens at different times, from the very early spring, the full glory of the tulips, to summer, fall, and of course the lights at Luminaria. I have been with the crowds, waiting in line in winter for a hot donut and hot cocoa. I've been before the gardens opened to the public for a sneak peek when the very first bulbs of the year were sprouting, and I've been during the dog days, taking my pup for a walk along the sprawling 55-acre gardens. The Learning Garden with it's tunnel of tomatoes, the Italian garden and the ever-cascading fountains, the Children's Garden, the Light of the World, and that incredible Secret Garden. Oh, and the fish at the pond, reaching their lips ever upward. They are massive, splashing, brightly colored paint daubs below the surface that delight young and old alike. Only Ashton Gardens could make me actually like begonia and their fancy varieties. Last year's "Plants that changed the world" was fascinating, to be able to see plants growing that we take for granted but never see--wheat, cotton, tobacco, vanilla. There are the most incredible cabbage roses with scents that I can still smell on summer days. There are beautiful plants with imaginative names, like "bleeding heart" and "kiss me over the garden gate". And I have to give an incredible shoutout to the container gardener. Not only are there 150+ containers all over the garden, but they are immaculately maintained. This is near impossible in our dry Utah climate, and while the rest of the garden is irrigated, these are watered largely by hand. And they are head and shoulders above any other garden containers you'll see anywhere else. Yes, all of my visits have been wonderful. But today was something even more. Today was something I'll appreciate the rest of my life. I know it's not a typical experience, but I need to write it down here to capture the magic of the day, and hopefully that essence is something still useful as a review. Today I was invited for a special behind-the-scenes look at the garden. It's been a hard week--the hardest, really. And I could have said no. But I needed to get out of the house, where I had been quarantined all week. So I came to the garden, and I was able to share a virtual peek with everyone else through a live broadcast, and then I got to put the technology away and finish the walk through the garden. Birds. Bugs. Tulips, crocus, daffodil, fritillaria, helleborus, and so many other spring flowers were bursting out with color and reaching skyward to the golden rays of sunshine that marked the ending of a hard day, a hard week, a hard time. As I walked, just me and the garden host an no other soul for 55-acres, I realized how special this opportunity was. As much as I hope to do it again someday, I also hope it never happens again. I hope the gardens will soon be filled with people--safely--and that everyone can see the greenest grass. But for today, when I needed that sunshine, and to see the hopeful spring bulbs emerging from their long, hard winter, the gardens were there and filled me with their sense of determination and light. read more

I visited Ashton Gardens by way of the Tulip Festival. It came recommended by my friend who is local to the area, and gave us something to do together while I was in the area. I had never been to an arboretum type place prior to visiting Utah, so this was new for me; however, I enjoyed it very much. It is my understanding that the Gardens has seasonal focuses, with spring being the Tulip Festival. The Gardens were beautifully manicured and tidy. Despite visiting on the last day of the Tulip Festival, the crowds were well-managed and we hardly ever encountered congestion or "traffic." One nuisance we did experience was the golf carts, but that could perhaps be chalked up to jealousy as we experienced the gardens by foot. In addition to having a beautiful walkway, the Gardens also had a koi pond and a large, scenic waterfall. I personally enjoyed the geese that chilled by the koi pond. Like any good museum-esque experience, there was also a gift shop with some kitschy items for purchase. They also had a restaurant and an area where plants and other botanicals could be purchased. I would definitely return to Ashton Gardens to see what other seasonal feats are on display--this was a wonderful experience. read more

You can rent a golf cart to get around and the cart paths and parking are thought out well. The gardens are pretty but I wouldn't call it a botanical garden. We happened to go the final day of the tulip festival so we were lucky to see many flowers in bloom. Other than the tulips, I don't remember seeing a lot of other flower species. There are many sculptures on the property which are all religious. This may be a turn off to some visitors. The waterfall amphitheater area was very beautiful. Plenty of kids playing, families sitting in the grass. The gift shop was not so great, I was through it in 30 seconds. As another reviewer mentioned, there was nothing to connect the garden and the guest. Overall we enjoyed our visit and would return but would hope other plants were in bloom at that time. read more

One of the most beautiful gardens I have seen in years. I love gardens, plants, nurseries, trees and anything related. My boyfriend told me about this place several times but somehow, and maybe because it is located in an area called Thanksgiving Point, I thought it is just a park that you go during that time of the year or during Christmas time. Well, I went during this past 4th of July weekend with him (check those marvelous photos he took of me, I just LOVE them:) and it was pretty empty, so I felt like we rented the gardens for our own private photo-shoot for the $20 per person entry ticket! This park is beautiful whenever you look at. There are subdivision and the plants and flowers are trying to recreated a representation of what they symbolize. Then you get your Monet gardens (it seems just out of a painting of the famous French artist), you get Roman, Greek styles, you get a huge theater with amazing waterfalls included, a secret garden very romantic and smells so good everywhere (not only in the expected rose gardens). My favorite area was the merry go round filled with flowers of all colors. I was also impressed with the sculptures representing scenes of Jesus life. There are so many gorgeous spots, corners, spaces and intricacies in the Ashton Gardens that a few hours visit are not enough to savor them. What a beautiful day to walk through the Tulip Festival. Our favorites were the Garden of Light where bronze sculptures tell of the ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They are huge and full of the emotion people must have felt who encountered Him. The Fragrance Garden was filled with a variety of tulips with the names of each. Very informative and beautiful--oh and the fragrance filled the air. Every turn provided a new backdrop to highlight Spring in Utah. Being from Florida, this was a nice treat to be here for this celebration. We had lunch at the concession stand by the pond. A hamburger with loaded tater tots were amazing! They took crispy tater tots and put melted cheese, scallions, and bacon over the top! We also got onion rings cooked perfectly as well. This garden is a reciprocal garden that works with other gardens across the country. If you have a membership at your local garden, like Harry P. This might just be Utah County's greatest treasure! 50 acres of family-friendly beautiful landscaping including a large pond with gorgeous Koi you can feed, a small river throughout, flowers as far as the eye can see and the largest man made waterfall in the Western Hemisphere. There are plenty of wheelchair and stroller friendly paths throughout the garden, and you can rent a golf cart for $35/hour and a half or $45/two hours. You must take a picture in front of the towering Italian gardens, grab a dole whip from the grab and go station, and let your kids experience the magic of opening the door to the secret garden in the heart of the grounds. One of the most special parts of the gardens is the Light of the World exhibit. A winding path takes you through breath taking statutes of the ministry of Jesus Christ. The artistry here is unparalleled and is fun for kids, as well as draw dropping for adults. There is even a hidden "sacred grove" depiction of the first vision of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ a few yards away from the main exhibit. I go here about once a year during August for their super $3 Tuesdays and every time I'm still amazed how beautiful it is. I love the variety of flowers and plants. I usually try to go right at 9 when it opens to beat the heat. There's a lot of walking but most of the paths are paved in stone or cement. I love that they have different displays each time, for example, this year they had a bunch of lego structures. I thought it was intriguing that on each Lego structure they included how many bricks it took to make and how many hours. If you go make sure you buy at least 1-3 bags of fish food, they are $1 per bag. My kids love feeding the fish along the west side of the gardens. The scent garden is one of my favorites since it's interactive. The light of Christ exhibit is so well done and brings a certain peace in the outdoors. I've hear that it's amazing in the winter at night but I've never been. I also love the garden tunnel into the secret garden area. The big waterfall is a main attraction but with the drought they do not have it running at this time. If you don't enjoy walking or have a hard time there are golf carts available to rent. read more

Really cool walk through Luminaria gardens. I had a chance to purchase tickets after they opened up for more late night slots, going at 9pm. I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into planning and building each area structures and syncing the lights with music. Love the transition of themes and photo op areas to take pictures. If you are concerned about social distancing, don't go here. There was a lot of people even that late in the evening and some people just don't care. Aside from that, half way through there's a cute little village with food, drinks and firepits. Fun idea to make smores and the hot chocolate was really good to. It definitely warms you up when it's so cold outside. It's worth bundling up because it take about an hour to walk through the entire park, longer if you take your time. They offer hot drinks at the beginning, half way through and towards the end of the experience. Truly an amazing job Thanksgiving Point! And what's even better is you don't have to go all the way to downtown SLC temple to see lights. read more

If it is hot I suggest you rent a golf cart. Walk-in rates for golf cart rentals are half the price of regular. I think it was about $35 to rent a golf cart for 1.5 hours. It was so worth it. The kids and I had a blast. One can totally do all the gardens within an hour and a half. It was really beautiful. You get to go out along the way and explore. The waterfall is fun. And feeding the fish was definitely a treat. Be sure to buy fish food in the lobby before you go. if you're going during the summer, bring lots of water to drink along with you. 2021 Tulip Fest. I loved that they had booked time-slots before I went. I was going with a senior so it was a nice comfort. Their website also repeatedly states that masks are required throughout the gardens, even outdoors. Parking was fairly easy, although they had a gravel lot that they were having people park in rather than the actual parking lot, for whatever reason. The gardens were quite pretty, especially being towards the end of the tulip blossoming period. It was a bit disappointing that in their nursery area, 80% of the plants 'weren't for sale' but I loved taking some pics so I know what I was from other locations nurseries. The crowds were not well controlled, and I a large number of people weren't wearing their masks. I'm not talking people trying to snap pics without their masks and then popping them on again- that's understandable and I feel totally fine with that, but people we're walking in groups with their masks under their chins. It wasn't comfortable when the crowds got thick and only a couple were masked. I realize UT is battling the state regs, but if you're going to state on your website that masks are required and will be enforced, you should try to have your staff enforce this. read more

Ashton Gardens is very beautiful. It's a decently long walk for kids. We have walked the gardens in June and once in the end November for Luminaria. My kids complained both times about the walking. Ha ha. The coy pond is amazing. There must be 500 fish in there. It's fun for the kids to feed the fish when the ponds are warm. They always have fun little events or exhibits at the gardens. This garden has plenty of different plants considering that it spans 55 acres with 2 miles of pathways. Definitely a massive area here. They have a man made waterfall which has 7 falls. You can purchase fish food and feed fish here. A garden known as The Light Of The World Garden. Here you can see sculptures of Jesus and his many encounters and situations he faced. We have a Christmas tradition every year to take in the shinny, twinklies that others have spent countless hours wrapping, positioning, and plugging in. But the crowds...oh the crowds.... We decided to forgo the crowd of awkward penguin shufflers at Temple Square this year in favor of more space. And we found what just might be three new mecca of Utah lights. Luminaria at Ashton Gardens. My 3 children were confused... "We're going to Narnia?" "No it's Luminati-a" "Why are we going to see Nazis again?"
