I really like grocery shopping at Presidente Supermarket...mostly for meats, seafood, spices, and vegetables...but the thing is I don't see much locations. So when I spotted one after getting some pizza, I just had to check it out. Located in the Town Shoppes of Margate, this supermarket was large and clean with organized aisles. There's a seafood department, a deli department, an area where you can get hot coffee and hot cooked food; as well as a variety of American, Latin, amd Caribbean grocery items, frozen items, fresh produce, fresh and packaged meats/seafood, and much more. Items are at decent prices - especially the meats. They also had ripe plantains on sale 3 for $2...got me a couple. Looking forward to coming back whenever I'm in the area. read more

The Presidente supermarket chain was founded about 30 years ago by a Cuban American family. It's still family owned. There are 30 markets in south Florida in the tri-county area. The chain caters to Latin American customers with a certain emphasis on specialized products, but tries also to be an inexpensive alternative in areas where other markets don't exist. I had not ever been to this particular one. I was surprised by the large number of Chinese women shopping there while we were browsing. We came here as we were a few stores away and decided to check it out. They have a large produce department, fresh fish department and meat sections. I was hoping to do some of my shopping list here, but they didn't have many of the items I was looking for. My husband did find a very large container of white vinegar at a very cheap sale price of $1.49. So we did buy that plus some hot sauce. It was fun to explore the shelves and see some unusual tropical juices and other ethnic items not regularly found in our local Publix. read more

Presidente Supermarket is an independent supermarket, It was started 30 years ago by a Cuban American family and they still own it today. There are a number of locations from Miami to Orlando. This store in Margate used to be a Winn Dixie and then I believe a Sedanos. The supermarkets that get put in this mostly dead plaza never last. I walked in and as soon as the smell hit me I can't say I was very impressed. The meat area looked dirty and the rest of the store looked run down. They serve what you would typically expect to find in a grocery store with an emphasis on Latin items. They also have a hot bar serving prepared foods. The reason for my five stars is that they were only place during the Hurricane Dorian preparation window that had water and they had a lot of it. They didn't price gouge with cases costing $4 and a limit of 3 per customer. I was able to get my water after working 12 hours a day which was a huge relief to me. I don't know why but when a hurricane is coming there is comfort in seeing a stack of water in your house, LOL. I have enough True water to last me the rest of the year. We are now out of the cone of concern as the storm is predicted to stay off the coast so keep your fingers crossed for Florida and the prayers coming. Presidente has my ever lasting gratitude for keeping the water coming. read more

A very standard Latino-Caribbean food market. The prices are ok. The selection is ok. The cleanliness is good, and depending on when you go, the speed of service will be good. One of the unexpected delights is their selection of ready to eat food. The empanadas are great, especially around 11:00 am when they're coming out fresh from the oven. The cortadito con azúcar is right on point if you need a little pick me up. Under $3.00...tell me where you'll find better coffee. The food is amazingly inexpensive, and their weekend specials are legit. If you live in Broward County like we do, you gotta check this place out at least once. read more

Noticed recently this opened up and wanted to visit. My experience was just a decently average experience. I saw the most popular foods for Caribbean & Latin cuisine. I decided to order from the prepared cooked foods and picked Sancocho, which was ok and then I had Red Beans morro. The food didn't look overly appealing but maybe I came at the wrong time. I think next time I'll come around 11:00am when they most likely will have just put the food out. read more

The absolutely overpowering scent of fish and seafood smacks you immediately upon entering this small grocery market. Store appeared bright and aisles clean, but the bad smell just could not be tolerated. Sorry .... Nothing more to offer and would never return. read more

I will never go here again. I bought a watermelon for $6.29, took it home and cut it open. It was bad inside, inedible. This place is about 15 min from my house and I was not going to that area for a few days, so I took photos of the melon and threw it out. About 4 days later, I went in with the receipt and 3 photos. They would not refund my money, said I had to bring the rotted melon with me. Very poor customer service. read more

I am so conflicted by the fact that this supermarket is so well stocked even during the pandemic, however the smell of meat greets you at the front door when you come in and you cannot help but notice that first. Other than that if you are truly looking for produce or anything else I can assure you this supermarket will have it somewhere somehow you just have to look for it. read more

We bought chicken at this location, and as soon as we started to drive off the parking lot, there was a foul smell coming from the trunk, we stopped and checked our shoes, tires of the car and started checking the bags, found that the chicken bag was opened and smelled terrible, took it back to the supermarket right away and the person at customer service started questioning me until I opened the bag, I asked to speak with a manager to make him aware of the issue and her answer was that he was somewhere in the store, I waited for about 10 minutes and left not knowing if they took this issue with the importance of a health hazard it presents, I already contacted the city of Margate regarding this issue, so, if you want to buy chicken breast or other parts of it, I recommend frozen on and if it is fresh , please smell it before the seal the bag. read more

The store is good, although today I was very disappointed to see a employee litter a soda can and 2 plastic bags from a cart! He was collecting carts and throwing the trash in the carts on the floor. Its so sad how people thinks its ok to do this especially in a work environment. do better read more

First time ever coming to presidente supermarket I came in because received a flyer in the mail saying that they had a sale going on for one week and then their oxtails where on sale for 3.99 a pound when I came in the store it said $6.98 a pound I tried to ask for Assistant just to confirm that the sale was still going on and that they just needed to do an override before I ask for my meat to be bagged up and every person I stopped and ask for help pretty much sure Shhh me away or said hold on and walked away. As employees aren't you suppose to help paying customers. What makes matters worst I have a flyer that came in yesterday mail and they said they won't honor the date and price they they advertise and won't say why..... This is crazy and a rip off . STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE People here are rude and I don't see myself coming back here every again . read more

I find this store to be very accommodating. The workers are amenable and the prices are lower than most other supermarkets. There is just one major failing. I live in Coconut Creek and do not receive their weekly circular any longer nor is it posted on line. That being the case, I no longer go there as often as I used to because I like to know the prices before I shop. I have repeatedly asked for a circular to be sent to me. I've given them my home address, e mail address, etc., but I've received nothing. If the circular was accessible to me I'd beshopping there more often and the rating would be bumped up to 5 stars. read more

I live across the street from this Presidente. It was kinda nostalgic (but weird) to be back inside half of what used to be my Winn Dixie store some years ago. Presidente is a throwback to supermarkets of the '60s. Not gleaming and pristine, yet an inviting experience where specials are placed in giant easy to find stacks away from the aisles. Advertised prices are excellent but shelved items are more expensive than even the big "P" (which shall remain nameless). Employees are polite and uniformly young, but many don't know a word of English. I get the feeling this is their first job since arriving in the U.S. I like the Latin music that emanates from the service desk. Some produce seems a bit wilted and the odors coming from seafood kept me away. There were things I liked about Presidente and others I didn't, thus a so-so rating. read more
