Came for "All You Can Eat Shrimp" at 6pm. Waited almost an hour for the 2nd round of shrimp. Then when one of us wanted a 3rd round, was told they're out of shrimp...at 730pm. Great place if you love crawfish. So much history with this place. The skill of making great crawfish is an art handed down from generation to generation. This roadside hut has very interesting photos decorating the walls of this place and its history and the men and women who have dedicated their lives to this Cajun tradition. Service here excellent and very attentive. They have all you can eat specials on certain nights of the wee. Will be back for sure as I see myself visting Rayne Lousiana in the future again and again. read more

We have given this restaurant chance after chance but we are done. We waited 30 mins after being seated and could not get anyone to wait on us so we left. On our next visit we ordered seafood wontons and told they were out. We then ordered seafood nachos and the chips were store bought and way to salty. I also ordered the bread pudding because I have had it before and enjoyed it but it was so far from the recipe it taste like a sponge cake with syrup. We are locals and we are done just like most locals. There were 2 tables besides us on a Saturday at 7pm. Time to shut it down! read more

If you're looking for a local spot for good boiled crawfish, this one will do very nicely. We've eaten crawfish from Abbeville to Opelousas, Rayne to Breaux Bridge, and Crawfish Hut remains one of our favorites. Like most crawfish houses in the region, it's nothing fancy inside or out, but it's clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Choose mild, medium or hot (i.e., "local") when you order -- we like the medium, which is spicy enough to make your lips go numb and served with a mayo-and-ketchup based house dipping sauce that's almost as good as what I'd mix myself. Each platter comes with a few boiled red potatoes; add a cold beer and maybe an order of corn on the cob for a real feast. They serve consistently high quality boils -- good sized, tender and juicy, with no muddy flavors from poor purging and no limp, crumbly dead-before-they-hit-the-pot disappointments -- and nobody rushes the enthusiastic but slow-eating Yankees who come back again and again each season. When you're ready to clean up afterward (and you will need to clean up, because if you're doing it right, the juices will run down your arms and the spices will cling to your fingers), four sparkling stainless steel sinks are available right out in the dining room. Crawfish Hut also dishes up what I consider some of the best chicken-and-sausage gumbo in Acadiana -- a thick, rich, perfectly flavored roux generously filled with chunks of tender chicken and homemade smoky pork sausage, served with rice on the side. (No okra or other vegetable chunks make an appearance in Cajun gumbo.) Sorry I can't speak to the rest of the menu. This is my families third time going here since crawfish season has opened. The first two times were during the week, the last was on Friday. The crawfish were really small and in all of our orders we had about a pound of just crawfish claws. We were not the only ones with small crawfish because the people on the side of us were having a contest to see who had the smallest ones... The staff were very friendly. read more
