A calm, pleasant, family-oriented restaurant, Ton's has served locally sourced food (from meat butchered across the street to vegetables grown in the owner's own garden) for decades. Went for breakfast on our way to Tabasco factory. Place was busy. Order at the counter. We both ordered omelettes & coffee. They gave us coffee cups at the counter. There is an area to doctor your coffee. They take your name and seat yourself. They have their own condiments. Order arrived a little later. They put bacon in my spouses veggie omelette. They also put my biscuit on her plate causing some confusion as to whose order is whose. The food was ok but nothing special. While they use ceramic coffee cups everything else is styrofoam and plastic.

Paid almost $10 for this "grilled chicken plate". Which included ONE very small piece of grilled chicken over lettuce and 2 side salads. I did not expect to still be hungry after paying this much for a meal. Please consider putting this on the "sides" menu and lowering the price. Because that's what it was. A side of grilled chicken. Not worth it.

I love any place where the owner says "praise God!" Please DONT excuse my bias; take it for full value. I arrived at 930 am (with 4 kids) hoping for a homestyle breakfast. My daughter smelled the gumbo before looking at the menu or asking anyone, and it was ready to be served. Once the servers found out I was New they made every suggestion they could think of. I fed 5 people $26. The atmosphere here is welcoming and every server is happy. Please go if you are considering!! You won't be disappointed.

First time to try their breakfast. I've read the reviews and this family run business didn't make the grade. I ordered two eggs over easy, hash browns, bacon crispy, and a biscuit. It to took 45 minutes to get my order. Food wasn't that warm and the portion of potatoes was not much more than two bites. Bacon was almost crispy, but barely. Very disappointed and will not go back. Forget about referring people, there were only 5 or 6 people in the place, I can't imagine if it was crowded, what a joke. read more

We had breakfast here and thoroughly enjoyed it! We loved the nostalgic feel of a small town cafe' and the friendliness of the girls at the counter. The food was really good. They had run out of biscuits so I'd love to go back to try those! Also, we noticed that have plate lunches and found out that you can check their Facebook page daily to find out what they are. I think this will be a lunch spot for us from now on! Price was about $26.00 for two of us but we did add an order of pancakes to our order so it probably would've been around $22 or so for breakfast for two people. read more

I've eaten a sampling of Tons menu, from the crawfish etouffee to the fried chicken, salad, chicken fried chicken and delicious old school griddle fried hamburger, and it's all good. The atmosphere lends itself to a sort of nostalgia that makes you feel like a kid again. The staff is super friendly and accommodating and the food, on top of being dang tasty, is affordable. This is easily the best mom and pop in the area! I wish they were open during dinner. The food is plentiful and oh so good! Everything is packed with flavor! The red beans and rice and the crawfish etouffee are my favorite choices! I hope to try their meatball stew soon! Food is fabulous. I've been twice & both times it was great. However the service was not so great. The first time I went the lady was rude & very short with me & my friend. Second time I went the same thing. And the young lady was more worried about watching what was happening in the restaurant than she was about taking my order. Which took 3 times to fix. This place is like your grandmother opened a restaurant. Old style home cooking. The people are friendly and the food is always good. I have been going here for years. They are not some fancy 4 star restaurant but they are a great place to go for a burger or my favorite the chicken fried chicken with okra and maybe some peach cobbler if they have it that day. read more

This place was recommended as a lunch spot from the guys that work at the site where my company had sent me. This place is just a plain burger and fries place along with gumbo and fried catfish The chicken and sausage gumbo was pretty good considering this place is more of a fast food spot. If i lived here, I could picture myself making a once in a while visit to eat. The burgers are very good per my co-worker as they have some spiciness in the patties. Considering the price of the food i'd say it's winner. read more

Probably the blandest fried chicken I've ever had and the fries weren't great either. Everything needed more seasoning. The staff was nice though, so I didn't give the place 1 star. I'll try giving this place one more chance and get a burger next time I visit. If it's equally as unimpressive, I won't be returning. read more

Ton's is a family owned business that has been running for over 50 years. My whole family grew up eating there. It is our favorite place! We currently live over an hour away and will make trips to broussard often because we get lonesome for the food and people. The owners are wonderful people! The food is fresh, Cajun, good home-cooking. When you bite into their burgers you can tell that they are made fresh daily, never frozen, and the flavor is amazing! Great atmosphere, great service, and my family ate here so often they should have considered putting our name on a booth. Unfortunately, the menu changes have turned this into a completely different experience. Let's start with the catfish. Somewhere between the old menu and the new one, the catfish fillets entered witness protection. What arrived on my plate looked less like catfish and more like a collection of heavily breaded suggestions of catfish. I've seen french fries wider than these strips. If there was actual fish inside, it was hiding better than Bigfoot. The spicy shrimp wrap also appears to have retired from the spice business. It now contains enough pepper jelly to qualify as a dessert, and so much of it that the wrap becomes a soggy engineering failure halfway through eating it. Then there are the onion rings. Calling them onion rings feels generous. They looked like someone lost a ring toss tournament and served the equipment. The frustrating part is that I genuinely loved this place. I live nearby and used to come here regularly. I even tried reaching out through the website before posting this review and never received a response. I hate leaving negative reviews, but somebody needs to stage an intervention for that catfish. This is Acadiana. We have standards. And right now, that catfish is filing a formal complaint against whoever approved it.
