Ordered lunch for myself and my coworkers and right when I arrived it was ready. Loved that there was a drive up window outside since I was in a rush to get back. Quick service, great food, and great atmosphere!

The first time I came to Ton's I got the gumbo and I've never wanted to get anything else when I stop here. It's one of the best. One day I'll try something else maybe...I'm always looking for small Louisiana hole in the wall's because that's where you usually find the best cajun food and that is 100% what Ton's is. Enjoy.

The meatball stew was phenomenal. The gravy was perfectly seasoned and coated the rice simply delicious. The employees are reall polite greet you when you walk in. They have old style booths and just gives off that old time vibe. The community shows up to support the good food and friends.

My most recent visit changed everything! Service was outstanding, and food was delicious! They will literally customize your plate to your liking, as long as you do not mind waiting. Food was DELICIOUS! Check @eatinglafayette on Instagram and Facebook for more Lafayette food things!

Warm gumbo & chilled potato salad

5/5 HIGHLY RECOMMEND for delicious gumbo served with a side of cool potato salad. A calm, pleasant, family-oriented restaurant, Ton's has served locally sourced food (from meat butchered across the street to vegetables grown in the owner's own garden) for decades. It's a third-generation family-owned-&-operated small business with a small-town vibe & kind service to compliment its warm comfort-food.

Went for breakfast on our way to Tabasco factory. Place was busy. Order at the counter. We both ordered omelettes & coffee. They gave us coffee cups at the counter. There is an area to doctor your coffee. They take your name and seat yourself. They have their own condiments. Order arrived a little later. They put bacon in my spouses veggie omelette. They also put my biscuit on her plate causing some confusion as to whose order is whose. The food was ok but nothing special. While they use ceramic coffee cups everything else is styrofoam and plastic.

Went for breakfast. Food came out fast and was so good. Everyone left with a full, happy belly. Love that you can order off the lunch menu at breakfast. Everything ordered was delicious.

    Breakfast Platter - $6.02

They had a solid breakfast platter of grits, eggs, ham, and a biscuit. I could start my day like this pretty often.

Paid almost $10 for this "grilled chicken plate". Which included ONE very small piece of grilled chicken over lettuce and 2 side salads. I did not expect to still be hungry after paying this much for a meal. Please consider putting this on the "sides" menu and lowering the price. Because that's what it was. A side of grilled chicken. Not worth it.

    Great menu! I was overwhelmed.

I love any place where the owner says "praise God!" Please DONT excuse my bias; take it for full value. I arrived at 930 am (with 4 kids) hoping for a homestyle breakfast. My daughter smelled the gumbo before looking at the menu or asking anyone, and it was ready to be served. Once the servers found out I was New they made every suggestion they could think of. I fed 5 people $26. The atmosphere here is welcoming and every server is happy. Please go if you are considering!! You won't be disappointed.

My delicious lunch at Tons Drive-In today...

First of all, there are a whole bunch of free parking and it was easy to find this restaurant. The atmosphere was low keyed and subtle, not loud and rambunctious. We were seated immediately, even if we were early for our reservation and our very friendly and helpful server, Jaslyn, was awesome! She suggested to start off with a delicious strawberry margarita and it was a home run! Perfectly blended garnished with both a lemon and a lime slice. We ordered the Prejean's seafood platter, which hit all the marks. Catfish filet, oysters, crawfish, alligator, shrimp, hush puppies and fries. Everything was lightly battered and not the least oily. We also had to try the chicken, andouille sausage gumbo and the crab cake vermilion which were so delicious! But, the highlight was our extraordinary server, Jaslyn! The was the epitome of southern hospitality with her sweet, unassuming personality! The next time I'm in Louisiana, I'll be back at Prejean"s!

Our waitress was very friendly, and made a great recommendation of the duck gumbo and Canebrake draft beer - I loved both of them! All of our food was delicious, especially the boudin flatbread and duck gumbo, and the green beans were perhaps the best I've ever eaten - very tender and well seasoned. I can't wait to go back!

This review is LONG overdue:…read more As first-time guests at Poor Boy's Riverside Inn in Broussard, Louisiana, we were completely captivated by this historic, family-owned gem that's been serving authentic Cajun cuisine for nearly a century. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance of rustic charm and subtle elegance, reminiscent of South Louisiana's river camps. With its warm lighting and lively buzz of happy diners, it's an inviting spot for everything from a casual meal to a special celebration. Our culinary experience was outstanding from start to finish. We began with appetizers of Cajun crab fingers, crispy and bursting with fresh Gulf flavor, and alligator tidbits, perfectly seasoned and wonderfully unique. The entrées were phenomenal: the Redfish Extravaganza, a masterpiece of fresh redfish stuffed with crabmeat and topped with a rich blend of more crab, crawfish, and mushrooms, delivered bold Cajun flavors in every bite. The Crabmeat Imperial was decadently creamy, while the filet with Riverside topping--a tender, perfectly cooked steak crowned with jumbo lump crab and mushrooms--was pure indulgence. Our drinks elevated the experience further: a Richard's tequila martini, crisp and refreshing; a Blue Raspberry martini, vibrant and fun; and a Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned smoked with an Italian cherry, adding a sophisticated, smoky depth. Dessert was a highlight, with warm, soul-soothing homemade bread pudding and sweet potato beignets, a creative, sugary delight that left us smiling. Every dish and drink showcased the Hurst family's dedication to fresh, high-quality ingredients and authentic Cajun recipes. What made our first visit truly unforgettable was our server, Meagan, who was an absolute superstar. She greeted us with a warm, genuine smile that instantly made us feel welcome. Meagan's knowledge of the menu was impeccable, and her recommendations guided us to perfect choices with enthusiasm and confidence. Even more impressive was her deep understanding of the Hurst family's history and the restaurant's legacy--she shared captivating stories about Poor Boy's nearly 100-year journey, adding a special layer of connection to our meal. Her attentiveness was flawless, ensuring our drinks were refilled and our needs met with a friendliness that made us feel like longtime regulars. Meagan's passion and care transformed our dining experience into something truly extraordinary. Poor Boy's Riverside Inn is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Cajun cuisine in a warm, historic setting. The Hurst family's legacy shines through in every bite and sip, and with servers like Meagan delivering exceptional service and storytelling, it's easy to see why this place is a Louisiana treasure. As first-time guests, we're already eager to return. Five stars for an incredible meal, perfectly crafted drinks, and an unforgettable experience, thanks to Meagan's outstanding hospitality!

Responding to Chelsa K.'s 1* review. As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened…read more I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability.

This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.
