I was hesitant to go because I'm a very, very small investor, but Sandra Ruiz treated me like I was a million-dollar client. She was very patient and thorough and knowledgeable. My wife and I recently set up a family trust and needed to transfer all of our assets into the trust. We came to the Fidelity Rancho Bernardo branch to transfer our joint investment account over to the family trust. This was something a bit too complex to do online, with subsequent notarized documents to be sent by mail. The forms were also a bit confusing due to the various types of trusts and requirements. Patric Layne assisted us with all the necessary steps, determined the proper forms to use, and provided the notary services all in one visit. We've been using Fidelity online for a couple of years and this was the first time I received services in a branch office. Patric followed up by phone a few days later to confirm that the transaction was completed and to see if we had any questions. Very pleased with the service. read more

This is the worst Investment Company I have dealt with in over 25 years of investing. People at their branches do not even know how to use their online trading interface. There is an error in their software and they are not even knowledgeable enough to understand something as simple as a Call Spread option. I have call their technical desk and waited 30 minutes. No answer. Today I had time and I am still on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes now. This company is ABSURD! It does not care at all about customers. I suggest everyone transfer your money to decent company that cares about their customers and has a modicum of technology for such simple trading requests. read more

Slightly disappointed. I've been here three times in the last few months, and I get the feeling the staff is in training mode. Information from the other side of the counter has not been thorough. And what's unforgiving is the costly error of not filing a document properly where we are still waiting for a review process a week later. Love the service of this Fidelity office! I always got excellent service when they managed the 401K of most of the employees at my former company. They used to have regular seminars, 1-1 planning for retirement and educational programs. Then I had visited the office several times and the customer services is outstanding, especially on the phone you will get your calls returned properly, professionally and fast. Even for people like me who do not understand much about the $ topics (only to spend and enjoy) they are patient explaining options in a friendly manner with zero pressing. I came in here after speaking to a rep on the phone about rolling over my 401K to an IRA. I had a few meetings with this person. In one case he didn't seem to want to meet with me, according to his secretary, because he didn't think anything needed going over with my situation. When pressed the secretary set up an appointment with him. This should have been my first clue to go elsewhere! Anyhow, I was told that there would be no charge for services rendered through the whole process. We got to the transfer stage and suddenly I am rushed through a rehearsed process in which he supposedly has a client waiting and tells me that there is a 1% fee on assets, gets a person wherever on the phone, hurries me through other processes, and shows me what my account would have when all was said and done. Then I was out the door! Not until later that day did I find out that the dollar amount I was shown was NOT what was being rolled over but instead thousands LESS! I made phone calls, sent e-mails, talked with the manager and higher ups all to no avail. Through all this do you think he contacted me to discuss the matter? NO HE DIDN'T! I found out on my own that I could have done a self-directed IRA ,which, by the way, I ended up doing. No way was I going to let Fidelity/Chris benefit monetarily at all after being led down a deceptive road! In hindsight I wish I could have seen things more for what they were: A rep/company trying from the very beginning to get their hands on what I worked hard for and turn it into a benefit for them! He/they didn't really care what the amount was (it wasn't their money). Nor did he/they have any real interest in me, the client (Ex. no phone call). If you decide to do business here, perhaps a more experienced rep that's not necessarily trying to "score points" will work for you but tread carefully! read more

I was looking to roll over my 401k from another company into Fidelity IRA. I called Fidelity and was told by their representative that I needed to call my previous company that I had my 401k will and get them to send me a check. I then could do my own research on the Fidelity website and sign up for an IRA there. The representative was no help to me, gave me very little information and didn't seem interested at all in helping me. He did not offer me any other Fidelity products either. I have found another company to roll over my 401k to and wouldn't reccomend Fidelity or any of their products to anyone. They offer potential customers no service, no inquiry or couldn't care less if you do business with them or not. Their TV commercials are pure bull shit. Do yourself a favor and invest your money with a company that cares and offers service. There are many of them like Templeton, Prudential, Charles Schwab or Amerprise. read more

DO NOT TRUST THEM. Prepared to be robbed and lied to. I went in thinking they are out to help me but found out the hard way they are only after their own commissions and don't care its your retirement funds or anything. I wish I had checked the reviews and never went to get their FREE consultation. I still get pissed off how naïve I was to trust them. They told me to rollover my 401k into IRA without telling me about the legal protection I lose from Federal Government. Legally they have to inform you of this. I found out the next day and called them on it and asked them to switch it back. They assured me that if the audio transcript supports my claim, they will honor my request. They never did. They never gave me a copy no matter how many times I asked. Kept claiming that their research department was working on it. Bunch of lies. Just passed me around and gave me one empty promise after another one, Contacted branch manager, same result. This went on for 3 months. Never got a copy of the audio transcript. They later changed their story that their rep had taken notes. Complete lie. Ended up filing a complaint with SEC (U.S. Security and Exchange Commission). Whatever you do, don't take their advise. Go home and research or better yet ask for a second opinion. Dont sign anything. Don't agree to a phone call, even if all you say is your name, they will twist that as your agreement. While I believe each persons experience with Fidelity is unique and worth noting on a post, I also firmly believe that your input needs to be correct and free from personal bias and false exaggeration. I have been using Fidelity for almost 30 years now and have never had a problem, either online nor at their location in Rancho Bernardo CA which I believe has now been open to the public for about 12 or so years. First off, there is a misstatement of facts which I believe undermines your entire feedback. Its a fact, unlike most other brokerage houses, fidelity branch personnel do not now, nor have they ever received commissions on the customers they help. To state that "ALL" they care about is their commissions is incorrect, false, very biased. I also believe that while giving a review is a very powerful tool for us consumers, it must be used wisely, and without fabrication, because then it become a mute and pointless exercise. Been managing my own IRA account with Ameritrade with the advices from a close friend of mine, well life happened and he no longer have time to keep track of the market to offer me advices anymore so I decided to turn it over to Fidelity and have them manage it for me. At the initial meeting, all I hear about is sure we can do this we can do that for you, you will get a call from me to follow up after all your assets have been transferred to Fidelity and we will proceed with the next step which is blah blah blah. After my assets have successfully transfer from Ameritrade to Fidelity, never received a call or follow up, all my assets are still in the same stocks/securities they have been in at Ameritrade. 3 months later and nothing have been done, my monthly deposits for the past 3 months just sit there in the cash account doing nothing. Now it will cost me all sort of fees to transfer my assets out of Fidelity to a different company.
