This is a family business: Ray does the prep, his wife (of 49 years!) does scheduling, and his adult grandson and wife assist in the practice. The office is filled with family travel photos and mementos, and small things to make customers feel well served and welcome: water bottles and soda are on the customers' side of the desk, with candy, phone charging cords, and pads and pens. I got a rubber jar opener that Ray gave out last year - his 30th anniversary client gift because I didn't get one then (not being a client). It's in a strip mall on the corner of Newport Ave and Beverage Hill and does t look that reassuring from the outside - but inside is a caring, professional, and friendly group of tax experts. As we sat doing my taxes, about 10 people came in one at a time to drop off, pick up, or ask questions about their tax forms (and one who needed to do amended forms for late W-2s). Grandson Austin handled most of them independently, but was very discreet when he needed quick info from the expert. Ray saved mea SERIOUS amount over last year's federal tax bill (by finding deductions TurboTax - and the CPA we used before last year - didn't offer/explain, at about half the fee I would have paid either of them). He also helped me learn how to pre-pay state taxes to lower my sticker shock next year: I'll always owe RI because my husband's MA pension isn't taxed by MA when it's paid but it's considered fully taxable income in RI. Ouch. Helping me avoid another huge bill next August? Thank you, Ray! Call early for 2026 - they cannot accept any more new clients this year. If I could give ZERO stars, I would…read more First of all, this address is wrong- they DO NOT have an office in Boston. Secondly, DO NOT TRUST THEM. I truly have no words for the service we got (but also I won't shut up about it bc if I can save someone else the hassle, I will). We hired a CPA this year bc of some issues with our state tax withholding due to moving across states. 1) From the get go, I felt funny about them because I knew there were certain info that would be needed (but they didn't take it even when I offered). Due to a HR mishap with my job, my state taxes were taken from NY (and not from MA). They never asked for more specific info (pay stubs for example) to rectify the taxes. I repeatedly asked the person assigned to us to reiterate the issue to us so that we knew she understood what needed to be fixed, and she couldn't. But they have such good reviews, so I should trust the right?! 2) Due to the move, my husband had two W-2's- one from NY and one from MA. We accidentally forgot to upload the NY W-2 (that's on us). BUT instead of asking for it, they counted the MA W-2 for NY as well. The outcome was that we now owe thousands in taxes due to the income being counted twice! 3) AND FOR THE CHERRY ON TOP- THEY FILED WITHOUT OUR CONSENT. The wrong version, where we owe thousands. And then didn't tell us. We only found out bc we got a letter from the IRS. And then they took their sweet time responding to us about amending, not that we trust them to even do the amendment correctly. And when we requested a refund, they refused and instead offered money off our next service- AS IF. We had to file fraud via our credit card and point out that what they did was ILLEGAL to get our money back.

When I became self-employed, I opened up a Health Savings Account to reduce my tax bill. I use my HSA like a checking account: Money goes in monthly for the tax deduction, and money comes out the same month to pay my health care premiums. However, in Sept, Fidelity without prior notice, decided to delay my ability to withdraw funds. In the past I was able to xfer funds back to my checking account one week after the contribution. Fidelity now wants me to wait over three weeks to xfer the money back: Thats total BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I filed a complaint with Fidelity's regulator, and I am looking to move my HSA elsewhere. I am not going to do business with an unethical company that changes the rules without prior notice. Their change negatively impacts my cash flow.
