Fantastic service!! A sales associate approached me as I was looking for a a specific shirt, and she immediately took me to where the item was in the store. She was very pleasant and helpful! The store was well stocked with a full range of sizes and colors of every item I was looking to purchase from the clothing department. And they were running a great sale in Columbia items! I kind of forget these guys are here. They are tucked away in the lower parking lot of Rooms To Go. Store is very large and spacious inside with a huge selection of sporting good supplies. When you first walk in they have men's and women's clothing. Kind of nice they have some brands that you can't get at other local department stores. The prices are comparable with any of the other major chains as far as clothing is concerned. In addition to clothes, they have archery stuff, guns and accessories, fishing poles and gear, shoes, sun glasses and much, much more. As far as gun pricing goes I feel they are a little on the high side. That being said prices they had a good number of sales going and prices were not bad. They also have some really good sales on ammo. Store is kept very clean. Staff is friendly. Probably had 3 different people ask if I needed help with anything. Need to remember they are here and go more often. Would recommend. read more

I have been here a few times to buy ammo, keep an eye out for the sales. They run specials for buy one get one half off. Even if you don't get the ammo sales the prices are decent. The gun prices at this store are about what you would expect at a box store. Staff is really friendly and very helpful. I will continue to shop here and keep checking on weekly deals :) read more

Two similar F&S experiences prior to today but I wanted to give them one more try only because they had a specific Benchmade knife I wanted to purchase. The twenty something at the knife counter ignored me while he chatted it up with two females. He saw me standing there for at least 7-8 mins. I asked another sales associate to help but he was on a "Phone Order". I stood in front of the counter 15 feet away from this uninterested sales guy for another 6 mins then left. Don't support the bozos at F&S. There were no other customers in the gun/knife area yet I could not be helped. Poor rating at best. read more

Great to have a "mini Bass Pro" on the Hoover side of town. This store is impressive on the inside and obviously on the outside. Massive fireplace and cool taxidermy display inside. Store is thoughtfully laid out and the checkout lines flow well. read more

The update... they never emailed back when I filed a complaint. I guess they really don't care about customer service. There is to many options in Birmingham for a store to treat customers this way. Rude!!!!!! I was excited to have a Field and Stream close to the house. They have a great selection of equipment for such a small store. Now for the 1 star part. I went there on Black Friday for a half off camo sale excluding Sitka and clearance. I rack up on what I needed on UA gear and get up to the register. Excited that I am getting 350 dollars worth of hi quality camo for only $175 made my black friday worth it. As the kid is ringing me up I notice my discounts are registering. I ask him what is the deal and show him the ad. He says looks right to me, let me call a Manager on Duty. After about 10 minutes (it is black friday and hectic) the manager finally comes to the register. Out of breath and frustrated she asked me, "what do you need." I showed her the ad, and she called another manager on her radio and asked. Then coming back in a rude, short, and flat out discustting tone, "UA camo is not considered insulated so you don't get 50% off. The camo is fleece lined meaning: Google Definition: Polar fleece is a soft napped insulating fabric made from a type of polyester called polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or other synthetic fibers. Other names for this fabric are "Polar Wool," "Vega Wool," or "Velo Wools." She then gave me a GFY look and stood there. I calmly said well I guess we aren't doing business. Until Field and Stream fixes this, I will not be shopping there and will be informing all friends, family, and strangers to steer clear of a false advertising manipulative store. Me and my fiance was in there today (Dec. 13th 2019) and the guy at the gun counter (Caucasian) saw we needed assistance and he was helping another Caucasian couple. When he got to us, his whole demeanor changed. His once friendly smile dropped, he was very dry, and seem to care less to make a sell. Being a person of color I tried not to think it was about race so I hung around afterwards to observe. Sure enough after seconds of us walking away, that friendly and guy next door smile reappeared when a Caucasian man walked up. Very displeased with that type of service. Nice big store. Lots of room in the aisles. Went on this day for some fishing supplies and ended up in the gun section. Just so much to look at. No employees to be found in fishing but found 7 in the gun section. It would appear 3 worked in that section and 4 were hanging out. The store had everything we needed and way way more. Found out that F&S is a "sister" store to Dick's Sporting Goods. So you can use your reward card at both. For hunting, fishing, camping I haven't found a better store in Hoover. read more

A really nice store filled with lots of merchandise gets it two stars. Good luck trying to buy something though. There is NO service. I tried two separate trips to buy a youth rifle with no help. The two guys at gun counter can only handle one customer at a time. There is no one to help with the ammo. I wanted to buy the ammo from their email ad to go shooting and could not find it anywhere. I guess Simmons and Marks Outdoors have spoiled me because this store has NO service. I won't waste my time shopping here again unless they have bulk .22 CCI Mini-Mag again. read more

I really enjoyed visiting this store when it first opened. Great selection; knowledgeable staff; reasonable prices. Over time, it has steadily gone downhill. Choices are limited, especially in firearms, and many associates seem to have no idea what they're talking about. "Special sale" prices are good, but most items have become exorbitantly high-priced. It is very difficult to find an associate with adequate knowledge to help you and associates are plain hard to find anywhere in the store. They seem to feel that when they cannot answer a question and the customer says, unhappily, "Well, thanks, anyway," that a cheerful, "No problem!" makes up for their deficiency. I'm truly not sure how to rate this store, I have never been in a Field & Stream store before today, I was really enjoying looking at the wide variety of items that they carry, I was talking to my wife about purchasing a hand gun from them, and my daughter and granddaughter ages 18 & 13 were walking around just looking, and I noticed a man with a Field and Stream badge following us and them around the store, at first I thought it was maybe just a salesman but every time one of us touched something, he would come up to us and ask if he could help us, this went on for some time, as we spend about 30-45 minutes in the store and in several departments, finally he just stayed standing behind us every step we made to the point we became very uncomfortable, and we decided to just leave, not sure we will ever go back as I felt like we were being treated like shoplifters or thief's, I'm giving a generous two star rating only because I really like the store's variety My email is gjmbhend@gmail.com read more

Serious bait and switch marketing on the part of this company . They ran an ad for a product at a sale price. I went to the store to purchase and was told " Oh, we sold all of those in the first hour we we open , could I show you ....." This is a firearm and takes 30 min to complete purchase. = Two people at gun counter, sold 100% in an hour. No more than 3or4 in stock! This is a market wide sales flyer!!! So, I don't have a WEALTH of experience with a hunting/fishing type store like this, but this one seems to be great. My son is very interested in fishing, so he loves the place. Their fishing equipment seems to b every reasonably priced, though I am not familiar enough with the sport to know if their brands are high, medium or low quality. The staff in the fishing section was quick to OFFER personal help, but weren't actually very helpful. The checkout process was quick and easy, and the customer service personnel were friendly. The store has always been very clean and tidy. The pricing on clothing seems a bit steep, but, again, I have little to compare it to. read more

I have bought 3 guns from these guys in the last 3 months, one of them being my sons first gun. Needless to say the guys at the gun counter have been awesome. Every time I have been in with a lower price they have matched it with no questions. The store is about 50 miles from my house. I don't mind making the trip to deal with employees that remember you and helpful. I can't speak for rest of the store only firearm department. read more

Went in to purchase a new pair of Costa's. Four employees were standing in the front of the store without customers and not one said hello much less offered to unlock the sunglasses. Both my husband and me had to ask for help. When he came up there he simply unlocked the case and offered no further assistance. We also needed a strap for the glasses and none of the ones were fitting and had to ask the guy if he could point us in the right direction. I now understand why they were not busy. There are plenty of choices here in Birmingham and I will not make this mistake again! read more

They need to learn customer service for customers who are in the store. I called in and got a great guy; they had what I was looking for. When I got to the store the next day, no one was available to "unlock" the merchandise. Seriously, left after about 30 minutes and drove to BassPro Shops where I received excellent customer service all the way around even though it was extremely crowded with holiday shoppers. It had at least five times the people as F&S store. Won't be back, horrible first impression, now I know why it wasn't so crowded! read more
