I find their food and beverages to be so outstanding I will confess: I hesitated to leave a review out of a naïve desire to keep them to myself--that ship has long sailed, as they are often extremely busy. How busy they are--which is well deserved--is the only thing I don't like. But that's not their fault! The food and beverages are simply superb and fairly priced. I know this sounds crazy--but their breakfast sandwich (no, not the english muffin, which is also excellent) is the best I have ever had. Yes, I have eaten top notch food in many, many cities, but still, this one is my favorite *ever*! Ask for habanero hot sauce if you like spicy. They are also very friendly. A must visit--but please just go when I'm not there to cut down on the wait, haha. (I recommend calling in your order before you go if you're in a rush. You can pay over the phone too). The salad with the rotisserie chicken was delicious. The lettuce had a lot of dark green & red varieties which was VERY fresh! The chicken & dressing were really good. On 4-16, I did not enjoy the chicken salad! I did not see or taste any tarragon. My friend had the avocado toast, which looked fantastic & she said was fresh, very flavorful (the fresh herbs & lemon) & delicious. She thought the latte with whole milk was really good, as was the chocolate chip cookie with salt on top. On another occasion, I had the Mediterranean platter, which was delicious & a lot of food, which I shared. The store is fabulous! I never saw a leather fly swatter before, but it was actually beautiful! I finally splurged & purchased the feather duster because it is pretty & will motivate me to dust, which I did as soon as I got home! I also purchased the shredder for fresh herbs, which looks super easy to use. They have many beautiful items from plates, bowls, glassware & wonderful selection of differently scented candles! I visited this place on Wednesday November 16th on my birthday. It's a cute little place with lots of adorable items for your home. I bought metal candles, you heard me. They are skinny metal cylinders the size of pencils that have a wick inside. You then set the metal candle sticks in a mineral oil type thing in a clear small vase or cylinder and you light the tops of them. They continuously burn because they absorb the oil through the wick in the center. Very cool. Anyway.... The bathroom was pretty adorable with like 30 framed pictures of goats and rams which I thought was funny. I love goats. They had pretty houseware and a small parking lot Outside they had picnic tables set up for you to have your treats or lunch as they had a dessert and small foods counter right outside to another doorway. The reason for only 3-stars is that prices of the store are absolutely astronomical and a lot of the items could not justify the price tag either. A lady in there spent over $2,000 in the 20 minutes she was there shopping with her toddler. There were also no sales and it was almost thanksgiving. read more

My family and I came here yesterday morning for some coffee. It's very fancy and elegant inside and out! While waiting for our coffee we explored the store they have inside. Everything seems to be pretty pricey $$$. The coffee itself seemed to be a reasonable price though. We sat outside to drink our coffee, it was a little chilly but not too bad. Everyone ordered hot coffees, where I ordered a cold brew coffee! It was decent, but I probably should have ordered something else. The glass case that displays temptation is irresistible to look at. I had their porridge for the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was very tasty and plentiful. The sweet fruit mixed with the porridge, gave it a very unique and delicious taste. Not too sweet, not bland, and just right. Unexpectedly lovely upscale store in Summerland. Seems like a blending of Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and a high end coffee bar under one roof. Only possibly higher priced. The building used to be Cantwell's Market, which we'd only been in several times. I can't recall the physical space, but I believe that major renovations took place to create this new venue. Dubbed a "lifestyle store", it presents an elegant environment showcasing furniture, accessories, gourmet food items like $9 jars of pasta sauce, and much more. Enough lit candles throughout the main room provided an instant cozy glow, yet made me nervous of potential fire hazard. As I entered, not knowing what to expect inside, my immediate reaction was to go into "ooh" and "ahh" mode, as the design presentation of each area of the shop is stunning. Filled with beautiful objects, both practical and artful, there's much to see. While I wandered, Dear Hubby and Adored Grandson made a pilgrimage to the Feast cafe section for coffees. The feedback on the java drinks is that while reasonably priced, the brews are bitter and ultimately not that enjoyable. DH remarked that the food menu items were the opposite of reasonable, and he wasn't tempted to try anything at the price points. We've spent time walking Lillie Avenue in Year's past, visiting various antique shops, gift boutiques, and galleries. Several of our favorites are now out of business, suggesting that maintaining a successful retail establishment in Summerland is tricky. I wish the owners of Field+Fort well, but wonder if their vision will sustain over time. Appeal aside, you have to sell a lot of high priced luxury goods to pay the rent. read more

My favorite shop in Summerland. Field + Fort is a cute little store with an attached coffee shop. My reviews are strictly for the storefront and shopping experience. The atmosphere and aesthetic of F+F is 5 stars! Hip, cozy, yet sophisticated - you are in awe of all the home goods the minute you walk in the door. Everything in the store is sectioned off really well from the large home decor items, to the bedding/bath, food staples, and bar items. It's an easy store to navigate. This spot is perfect for gifts as everything is very modern and classy - elegant that it can fit most people styles. I'm always here searching for birthday, Christmas, and housewarming gifts. Also the staff here wrap your purchases up so nicely! Every item is wrapped with care and with such detail that when buying gifts I'm always able to just keep everything as they packaged it and just hand it right off to the person. Also little side note perks about this spot - private parking lot, small but appreciated. Also super nice bathrooms here when your on your pit stop into town! Really the only reason for this docked star is this spot is just really pricey for what I'd call the average person. Again, the items are quality and beautiful but I'm sure the price point isn't realistic for the average customer, a value to the Montecito clientele sure. I spent $20 on honey here. Anniversary weekend found us here for coffee! Just a short trip from Carpinteria, you don't even have to take the freeway!! Following Covid protocols, all dining is outside. I'm actually not sure if there is an indoor part other than the store. The didn't have what I wanted from the menu, but the gentleman recommended their English muffin with their homemade sausage and it was really very good! Hubby had the breakfast sandwich and also very good. Flavor profiles on point! Coffee was hot and strong. Ordered this cinnamon braid, but this should have been heated up! Outdoor seating is quaint and constantly being cleaned when people leave! I look forward in going back and trying their savory bread pudding which hopefully will not be sold out! read more

This is a cute place to have breakfast or lunch at if you like peace and quiet! They have outdoor seating in two separate areas, and there's a fountain which adds to the tranquil ambiance. They have a parking lot with a decent amount of parking spaces, and there's some street parking as well. I tried the roast beef sandwich and it was tasty! It came with a side of chips which were also really good. The raspberry pastry had just the right amount of sweetness, too. While waiting, we looked around the store and saw so many neat home furnishings. I'll definitely be back to grab a bite when I'm in Summerland! Went to have a coffee and share avocado toast on a Sunday morning. Be careful here! If you mention you'll be sharing the Avocado toast they will charge you an extra $2 for an extra plate and 1/4 wedge of fruit! Also, I requested Almond Milk in my mocha and was charged an extra $1! The menu has decent variety with quality ingredients which gave every item we tried great flavor. Tried avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, Reuben sandwich, yellow squash soup and breakfast hash. A real plus is all seating is outside and the seating is plentiful, comfortable and in beautiful surroundings. Order at the counter, pick where you want to sit and they deliver to your table. Staff young, efficient, courteous and friendly. Note: we went on a Sunday (brunch time) and it can get quite busy, but a big plus is the relaxing atmosphere and a large gift/merchandise shop to browse. Our whole family is mostly vegan and we used to love it here. There used to be at least two sandwiches that were vegan (or obviously easy to make vegan). The one we loved the most is gone and the choices are more limited (we can go almost anywhere to be restricted to salads). Used to love it here and want to love it again.
