This store is visually amazing and a joy to explore. The variety of items available for sale are both nostalgic, beautiful and interesting. There is something for everyone. The staff are extremely helpful, not only assisting and finding items in their store, but also suggesting local restaurants and other shops to visit. Prices vary from small to large and are on par with today's costs. I was able to find some great gift items as well as a few items to purchase for myself. Nice little pottery store on State Street. We especially liked their extensive selection of kitchen and table-ware from various regions of Italy (the Umbria and Toscana sections were my favorites), their ceramic house signs and numbers section, and their volcanic stone tables, which are expensive (a few thousand dollars!) but unique. Will likely order some things from them in the near future (we grabbed a brochure) as they offer free shipping and handling in the lower 48 states. read more

Wife and I spotted this place over weekend. The selection is fabulous, I was looking for a decorative planter for the home, wife looking for a cool SB souvenir. Found some more reasonably priced vases in back. Found one we agreed on; they bubble wrapped it and let me pick it up in the back later in the afternoon. We were so very happy to find this store yesterday on a celebratory visit (our 41st Wedding Anniversary) to Santa Barbara. We lost our home in the Palisades Fire and with it a wide variety of beloved ceramic pieces we'd collected over the years in our trips to Italy. We found replacement candlesticks, a vase, a coffee mug and coasters, little tastes and reminders of what we once had. Yes, the prices may seem high, but it's less than a trip to Italy and the hassle of shipping them home or carrying them back by hand (both of which we've done.) In reading the reviews I see that the owner is Italian and travels home to select items from the artisans she works with. It gives me hope that maybe some of the more unusual items we lost could be found on one of those trips, a conversation I hope to have with her at some point. We also enjoyed working with the two young women running the store that day--they couldn't have been sweeter and more helpful. We definitely will be back. read more

Oh my, what a gem in the middle of State St! In the middle of hustle and bustle of downtown Santa Barbara we found this store. It has sooo many things to look at and browse, you will take your time in here. The Vulespa Candle selection is phenomenon, they are authentic beautifully scented and so much to choose from and in different sizes! Came to the Pottery Outlet to wander around on my first visit to State Street in YEARS. The Italian Pottery Outlet had some wonderful stuff and good prices, I bought a few little things, but the stars of the show were the folks behind the counter. I wish I'd gotten their names. They offered us champagne and conversation, which was perfect as this was a bit of a going away party for my friends. And then, after I left town and realized I'd left my credit card with them, LeAnn wrapped it up in a lovely greeting card, complete with a bookmark and postcard, and I had it back in the next few days. This store is a staple of State Street in Santa Barbara. I discovered it in 2003 on my first visit to the area and loved their merchandise and cool decor. If you love home decor, Italian pottery, kitchen wear, more unique, this is a fun store to check out. It's on the pricey side, but you can find a cooler souvenir here, something cool for your house or a cool gift. Now, that more and more chains took over State St., stores like the Italian Pottery Outlet stands out even more. Decent service, fun to browse, there are some items on sales, seasonal decorations, don't get intimidated by the price. They ship to various parts of the country, also. It was our first time to Santa Barbara and we love Italian Pottery, so we stopped in. Had a small issue with my order and was immediately contacted and issue corrected, it is nice when things goes smoothy. We got some cool house numbers, a small framed heart and a hilarious children's book (narriated by Samuel Jackson). This place has a great selection of beautiful Italian plates, pottery, etc (much is on our wish list). They are located on State street and a unique addition to the wonderful Santa Barbara vibe. I was roaming around Santa Barbara when I walked by this store, where its window casing was filled with wonderfully painted ceramics. Upon entering the store, I'm in awe by the amounts of fine crafted exquisite ceramics in the store. For me, I would consider purchasing some of their ceramics as an accent decoration, or a couple large singular devices to display this wonderful art. But that's just me. Their collection theme ranged from displaying the seasons, different types of foods, and religious meaning. The store also has a nice collection of kitchen accessories, books, and soaps. Their cookbooks are going to be a fun challenge for me as I always like to learn something new. Cooking for me is learning, and enjoying the results at the same time. They also provide shipping of items, I've had a few of their items shipped back to where I live - and it always arrived in perfect condition, with no damage of any kind. They were friendly and helpful in guiding me to a hostess gift for my mother-in-law. I told them what colors she likes and how much money I wanted to spend ($40 - 50) and they came up with four possibilities. All were lovely, but one was the unanimous winner in the family poll. $38.00 later and a simple, elegant wrapping job and we were out the door. read more

Found the prices very high for most pieces, even those discounted on sale. But...they had something I have not seen anywhere else: Italian style melamine dishes. I cannot say enough about their customer service! Recently I received an order in which one of the items was very similar to an item I'd ordered, but not the correct one. I phoned them and spoke to Adele (one of the owners). She swung into action instantly! She tracked down the correct item and found three in stock. Because they were hand painted and each a bit different, she emailed digital photos to me so I could take my pick! She quickly packaged it and had it sent out within half an hour. Then she sent me a link where I could track the package. She also arranged to have UPS stop at my house to pick up the incorrect item. She could not possibly have been more helpful or attentive. After looking at some of the reviews, I thought I would write of my own experience with this wonderful store. We "happened" upon this store while driving down State St, on our way to a luncheon. We returned later that day to find some of the most unique and authentic pottery. Prices vary, but having shopped for Italian pottery in Italy, Toronto and in the so many cities in USA, I found the prices to be competitive. True Italian pottery is not cheap, and one has to consider shipping, which I have experienced when purchasing overseas, to cost more than the item. Then add the cost of customs, and handling. I know I am purchasing quality when shopping at The Italian Pottery Outlet, as they hand pick items when in Italy. Also, the staff is excellent. When you're dealing with one of the owners or managers, the service is much better than a part time clerk who is hired for high peak times. Recently, I purchased a gift card for a relative, who lost the card. The staff went on and beyond to make sure the money was not wasted, and it was replaced after the owner went out of her way to research the issue. Normally, a store would say nothing could be done. I would recommend this store to anyone who understands Italian pottery...I have purchased in the store, over the phone and online, and have been pleased with the product and the service provided. read more
