First thing to point out is you need to arrive early as possible because the lines get crazy long. Luckily for us we already purchased our tickets online and were able to get in line right away. Secondly, if you need to use the restroom or do anything else, be sure to do that before you wait in line for the hayride. There is no stopping once you get in line for the hayride and once you get off the hayride you have to go through all the haunted houses back-to-back. When you get in line, they corral the groups into what looks like a large steer pen until its that groups time to get on the hayride. It's about a 15-minute ride through the woods - you experience several scare zones, and gory scenes. There are a handful characters like Michael Myers that run out and climb on the back of the wagon trying to scare guests, which is more fun than actually scarry. Once the ride comes to a halt guests once again line up to go through all the haunted houses. The haunted houses were hit and miss. Some were better than others and all the staff in the houses did a decent job. We had a run-in with one security guy that was just a complete jerk and threatened to kick us out for trying to take a picture with a character stating that we touched them when we did not, the character actually grabbed on to us, so WTF! Once through the haunted houses there's not much left to do but walk around, grab a bite to eat and something to drink. It was a little expensive but decided to get a few hot dogs, Snapple ice teas, and some other light snacks; roughly $40 for this. The characters walking around and doing photo ops in this area were great and their costumes were also very good. They stayed in character the whole time we were at the park so this made for a spirited evening. My biggest complaint is there is not enough Porto-lets available or seating near the vendors for the sheer number of guests attending. They literally had 4-5 stalls available for the thousands that can potentially visit here nightly. Also, staff were not stocking the stalls with toilet paper. There were a lot of unhappy Ladies here that night.

Hayride was not very scary not much going on just drove through the woods and looked at a few things on the side. The haunted house was okay some unique areas. But for the price I thought it was too expensive for what you got. We were done and out of there in about 2 hours.

One of the Best Haunted Attractions I've Ever Been To!…read more Wow, what an awesome night! I had such a great time at this haunted house and hayride. Everything was so well done and incredibly detailed--it's clear that a lot of thought and effort went into creating the experience. The ticket included several different attractions, and I really liked how each one flowed into the next. It wasn't just a bunch of random scares--it felt like one long, immersive story. It took about 2 hours to go through everything, and it never got boring! The hayride was honestly next-level. I've done haunted hayrides before, but nothing like this. The scenes, the actors, the effects... and YES--there was a real horse with a headless rider That moment totally blew my mind and made the whole thing feel so much more legit and spooky. The costumes and actors throughout the entire night were seriously impressive--super detailed and genuinely scary. You could tell the cast was really committed, and it made the whole experience feel that much more real. They also have shops set up where you can grab snacks and hot cocoa, which was a nice touch after all the excitement. I saw this place only had 3 stars on Yelp, and honestly--I don't get it. This was such a well-executed haunted attraction, and I truly had an amazing time. I'd definitely come back and will be recommending it to friends. Don't sleep on this one if you're looking for a memorable spooky night out!

The entire…read moreattraction is thoughtfully planned, moving you seamlessly from a long, atmospheric haunted hayride into a series of walk-through houses. They rely heavily on jump scares, and there are plenty of them to keep you entertained. I'd manage expectations on the production value. While other reviewers mentioned 'Hollywood level' props, I didn't quite see that. The sets are good, but not mind-blowing. Have I been to scarier haunted attractions? Absolutely. But the Headless Horseman's strength is its atmosphere. You can't beat the genuine, spooky vibe of being on a huge plot of dark farmland, surrounded by rustling cornrows. It's an entertaining night out that's all about enjoying the seasonal spirit.

In 2024, we were on a Six Flags kick and hit up as many on the east coast as we could. One last stop was to Great Escape, another of the parks within driving distance of the Boston area. Our trips to these parks farther away usually end up being multiple days, so on this visit we did a Sat/Sun visit during spooky season. As you drive along I-87, you spot SFGE off to the right. What greets you though isn't the best looking park in the world because you've got to see front and center, one of the ugliest Arrow coasters known to man. This thing has seen better days, the best thing this place could do is tear it down and put something in that spot that has a wow factor. Like yesterday, just do it. Our GPS took us right up to the park when it was typed in, whoops. Totally our fault, but we had to turn around in a hotel right next door to the park to actually go to the lot entrance, which is on the other side of the road (the sign isn't super big and you get no warning as to when it's coming). Parking in Lot #2 wasn't paved, so it was really difficult for our two kid stroller to navigate, I can't imagine how someone with a wheelchair gets around in there. Pave this next time, please. I continue to mention the two day stay, because one wasn't really pleasant at all while the other was a dream. And yes, when I say that I mean the size of the crowd. Too many unchaperoned teens running around on Saturday not really caring who they might run into or what they were saying around small kids. Sunday was nothing like that and most rides were a walk-on. The park itself is relatively clean, especially compared to its Six peers. It's probably that time of year, but why must you close down what amounts to big portion of the front of the park? I counted 6-7 rides closed the first day, including some kid rides that they were disappointed they wouldn't be getting on. They are trying to compete by adding the likes of Bobcat, the new and possibly the best entry from The Gravity Group. Find something with a small footprint like Bobcat to again, welcome people to the park, not one that your grandparents enjoyed in the 80's. That thing looks far from being any kind of "demon". The carry over items from when it was Storytown are a lot of fun, even if some of them look a bit dated. I'm just glad they decided to keep this decor, from the castle now flowing with rivers of blood for Halloween to the tiny storefronts all kids up to the age of 7 will enjoy. You can also see some of the items from the olden days on the train ride around the park. We got a meal deal for the day, where you can purchase a meal or snack every 90 minutes. As long as you get there early, this is super worth it. But what we didn't plan on was waiting in line 25 minutes to get dinner so this can hurt the timing of it all and you might miss out on a last snack at the end of your day. The nachos were stellar, the pizza I give a 4.2 on the Portnoy scale, and the chicken tenders were you know, tenders. It's amusement park food but at least none of it made us sick to go on rides. The next day we had a treat of fried dough which was super fresh and soft. Staff was hit or miss, 90% of them like most places, were helpful and nice...even if they can be tough to find beyond those working rides at times if you have questions. We ran into a few that could have been having a bad day, it can't be an easy job trying to watch out for the safety of teenage idiots all day. It's not the best Six Flags, refurbishments suck when you hope they wait until after October ends and its all closed until the spring. Some of it still needs an upgrade but overall, we enjoyed ourselves. There is still work to be done and I hope SF and the new corporate structure will continue giving this park the time and money it deserves for what is a pretty rural community. But it was still enjoyable enough to get us back some day, as long as things can remain open and staffed.
