The good: very cute place, tons of parking, restrooms, snack bar. The bad: no refunds, uncomfortable skates, melty ice. I brought my 2 daughters and 1 friend to skate here a few days ago. Spent $53 for 3 tickets. I had just taken the girls a few days prior to skate at Modesto on ice as we live in Modesto but they were sold out at the time we wanted to go so decided to come here instead. As soon as they got on the ice they said that it was really hard to skate because the ice was very melty and also complained that their feet hurt really bad. They were on there for less than 5 minutes. Mind you they skated 2 days prior at the other place for a full session just fine so it was kind of weird that their feet hurt and wanted to leave. I asked if I could get a refund. They were adamant that I could not and that I could change the tickets for another day. I went ahead and did that but my girls refuse to go back there and keep asking if we can just go to Modesto instead. The supervisor I talked to stated that Modesto uses the same skates and that he recommends wearing thick socks because the ice skates aren't made for comfort. I don't know if that is true or not or if maybe the skates were old or too new but whatever the case my kids don't want to go back. Since I can't get a refund, I guess I'm out $53. I don't think that is right. They should be more understanding especially when kids are involved. I could see if they skated for half an hour and then said their feet hurt but they literally didn't even skate at all. Thumbs down! read more

Great customer service, very clean facility. I was appreciative of a gentlemen providing skating advice to better assist my daughter. It helped greatly. I would recommend clearly distinguishing the two lines when arriving. We had to wait in one line for 20 minutes due to there not being a clear distinction between already paid via need to pay. read more

Love all the staff at Turlock Fields of Ice! After they cleared the ice before the 4PM session, we were lucky to be able to watch a surprise demonstration session by former Olympic Figure Skater Beata Handa, a beautiful performance. The staff and skaters were very respectful of Covid protocols. It was great to see families and young people able to go outside and enjoy a family friendly activity! We had a birthday party here for my grand daughter's 11 th. I purchased the 15 skater option. It only came with 10drinks. I didn't quite understand that. You would think if you have 15 skaters you would get 15 drinks. The package Also came with 3 large pizzas which were not very good. The crust was terribly hard and thick. We never had anyone come over to the table until the end when the lady said," please get off the table." My 6 year old was sitting on the edge of the table during present opening. She grabbed up their reservation signs and bucket that held cheese peppers, dumped it in trash and walked off. She was pretty rude. We love to come here. We visit many times throughout the season. All in all our birthday party experience was not great. read more

Me and my sister went here for the first time and it was also our first time Ice skating. It's expensive in my opinion we paid $30 for the both of us. When they gave us our skates mine were fine but my sisters blade for the skate wasn't in the center so she couldn't walk so she asked for some new ones and they were nice about it and gave her new ones. I love skating at seasonal outdoor rinks. This place stands out. It's large, the ice is in great condition, and it's in a barn in the middle of nowhere. Farmer Ron, the proprietor, takes great pride in the work he puts in to it. The atmosphere is great and it's a great skate! read more

Have gone here quite a few times with my kids and have thrown 2 birthday parties with them. Always happy with the customer service and accommodations they make to serve any needs I may of had. Owners are always very kind and welcoming may it be with their corn maze or ice rink. I think of it as a great place to take a date, family, or a party gathering. It is wholesome good clean fun for all ages. I appreciate the hospitality and will return to keep this local business going. read more

1.5 hours of throwback fun from decades ago. I took my kids here to try ice skating for their first time and my first time in at least 25 years. Getting skates was fairly smooth. The additional pvc pipe supports were $8 (rental) for the kids to learn on but were worth it. They kept the kids from failing and kept others from falling into/hurting my kids. Genius idea. Skates were ok, with maybe some needing some attention to the shredded laces. Otherwise the skating was great with lots of beginners and kids having a great time learning and having fun on the ice. All of the negative reviews are funny; this place is a small hometown ice skating rink. It is a lot of fun and very relaxed. My 3 year old got on the ice for a couple minutes, decided it wasn't for him, then played on the tractors and tires. My daughter and I scared for over an hour and had a blast. They play fun music and also have food truck/clean bathrooms on site. read more

It was our first time going and we had a good time. You get two hours of skate time every skate session, which we only lasted 45 minutes. :) It's such a cute place. It's like a little treasure in Turlock especially during the holidays. Skating rink is a good size - not too small. The skating fee comes with shoe rental. If you can't skate, no worries, you can rent "skating buddies" - walkers to assist with skating for $10. They have two "skating buddies" sizes you can choose from. If you return the skating buddies back within an hour of use, you get $5 back. That was nice as we had rented 3. They have open cubbies you can store your shoes and items in while you skate as well as picnic tables to sit down and watch the kids skate or take a break. There are restrooms and a snack bar. Highly recommend if you're up for ice skating or want something to do! read more

Hello everybody! I visisted FOI on 1/2/18 @ 8pm. It was a nice and fun i enjoyed the disco lights although it was only brief. A big bonus was being able to rent the pvc pipe ice walkers made my experience and my husband's, daughter's time better and fun its a nice size + music being played AND the prices are good. The downside is that our skates were not sharp enough and i previously read on the reviews and actually heard people mention while we were there (live) lol. But we will be back. P.s (our last experience @ the san Jose location was not great price and experience wise so im happy to have found a closer location 40 min commute) read more

I love to ice skate but this place is terrible. The skates are old and wobbly. The ice is so uneven and too soft that every time I tried to kick to speed up the top layer of ice would scrape off. Worst ice skating experience. I DO NOT recommend. read more

Went today with a group of 12 (7 adults and 5 kids) to go ice skating. What a horrible experience. The place was packed, way to many people on the ice. The ice itself was horrible, worst ice I have ever skated on. Plus we were sitting at a table for about an hour when we were told to move because it was reserved for a party. The owner came over and got in my husband's face yelling that we needed to leave the area. There was no reserved sign anywhere. How were we supposed to know. She was completely rude about it and we were already packing up to leave the area. Have some patience. And while all this was happening my daughter was sitting there crying from falling and getting a huge knot on her knee. You think she would show some voncern, but of course not. Horrible customer service!!! Especially the owner. read more

It's a cute lil outdoor ice rink BUT, it is in need of a lil more regulating of traffic on the ice. I've been skating and played hockey for years so I skate better than most so when I have trouble navigating through without running through someone is bad. It's to much a free for all and they allow way too many people on at once. People going in whatever direction they want and just hanging out along the wall creates a lot of collisions on the ice as I witnessed last night. Kids with the training pvc walkers just shooting across the ice head down and plowing into people, teenagers using them to race around, people skating in the opposite direction of the flow. And no one controlling what goes on on the ice is going to end up with someone seriously injured. I would find a different rink if it's your first time skating especially since I should have brought my own skates because mine were not sharp at all couldn't hold an edge and the ice was bad. read more

I preordered tickets and "skate buddies, but when the date was approaching, We weren't able to go anymore. They didn't want to give us a refund so we changed the date. We drove out two hours to go and once we were there they didn't want to give us a "skate buddy" until 5:30 on the dot(lady was so rude about it too). Anyways, i waited till 5:30 and i asked for the three skatebuddies I payed for, the employees said they "ran out" and didn't have any. they had me waiting 30 min for some, (by then it was 6pm) mind you this waiting time is cutting into the skating session time we paid for(5:30-7). We never got any "skatebuddies" so I requested for a refund on the "skatebuddys". I had a little one that was not willing to skate unless he had a "skate buddy" and since there were none available we decided to ask for a refund on his skate session ticket too. They didn't want to refund anything!!!! The lady was rude and said, "did he touch the ice? if so he cant get a refund" (lol) after discussing back and fourth they finally gave me my refund and I skated for the time I had left which was like 40 minutes by then. read more

What a wonderful idea having a rink right here in Turlock! I went on a Saturday for their 4pm session. Oh my, what a mistake. It seems like they need to limit the number of skaters allowed, have some policing the children skating horizontally on the ice (instead of in a circle around the edges), and limit the number of people using crutches (some used a PVC pipe frame as a walker to skate and others large stacks of buckets). The walkers took up a lot of room and were terrifying when a child would unexpectedly turn one out in front you. The buckets were worse... children would lose control and they would go rolling across the ice into your path. 95 percent of us skaters and aren't good enough to avoid these obstacles making them far more dangerous to all then just having people who can't skate tough it out without the crutch (plus the poor form they're learning using the crutch isn't helping). Finally, the ice itself was destroyed by 5pm. They appear to clean the ice after each two hour session but when I arrived at 4 the edges were pretty bad. By 5 the ice was a mess everywhere. Now not being very good at skating (thus frequently putting too much weight on the front of my foot)this was a huge hazard. The front of your skate catches and you go tumbling forward. All in all, a nice idea for kids but adults are gonna have a bad time. read more

Went at 2:00 on a Thursday it wasn't bad I never went ice skating before and I got a hang of it it's really good for good to spend a new adventure together and they have lockers to put your shoes in. I can't wait to go at a later time Bc they have lights and a disco let the party go on! read more

We had a wonderful time at Field of Ice!! We celebrated my daughters 5th birthday, we did their party package and it was wonderful the kids all had a great time and so did the adults. Even though there was a situation that happen that was not the rings fault, they fixed it right away and even gave us free passes for the inconvenience. Fields of Ice has provided our son with months of exercise and fun. This is our second year purchasing a Season Pass for our son, and we have no regrets about our purchase. As a pass holder, we find ourselves down at the rink several times a week. Each time we are there we have a positive experience. The staff both on and off the ice are very friendly and helpful. The owners of Fields of Ice can always be found mingling with the customers and checking up on all the details throughout each session. There are heaters to keep the non skaters warm, a concession stand for your snack needs, open lockers and locked lockers available for your belongings. During busy times I have noticed staff directing traffic and security wondering about. There is always an employee within a few steps of guests helping out, monitoring the ice, tying skates for new skaters, and ensuring safety for all. We are so thankful to have Fields of Ice right in our own backyard. We are looking forward to many more seasons of skating! read more

Went here with my family and I was VERY disappointed in the rink which was very choppy and over crowded. Also, the OWNER of the establishment refused to give me her name when she Rudely confronted our table, letting us know there was a party who had reserved it... which there was NO signs of anything being reserved. When we were putting our shoes on to leave, she went grabbed a sign and placed it right in my brothers face. I really hope the OWNER learns a little respect for her customers!!! Again, I would NOT recommend this establishment and we WILL NOT return!!! read more
