The major issue is the FLOOR it is not smooth at all, the rink is so hot. They have big fans but not aimed at the floor. Several people including myself had to stop and stand in front of a fan to cool down. There is no carpet in the area you put your skates on. That does not feel safe, the floor area is very slippery. We did not get a chance to play games so can't comment on those. We did not read any reviews before we came in order to not be biased. We did come because of the great deal of family of 4 for $30.

Spent $53 for 3 tickets. I had just taken the girls a few days prior to skate at Modesto on ice as we live in Modesto but they were sold out at the time we wanted to go so decided to come here instead. As soon as they got on the ice they said that it was really hard to skate because the ice was very melty and also complained that their feet hurt really bad. They were on there for less than 5 minutes. Mind you they skated 2 days prior at the other place for a full session just fine so it was kind of weird that their feet hurt and wanted to leave. I asked if I could get a refund. They were adamant that I could not and that I could change the tickets for another day. I went ahead and did that but my girls refuse to go back there and keep asking if we can just go to Modesto instead. The supervisor I talked to stated that Modesto uses the same skates and that he recommends wearing thick socks because the ice skates aren't made for comfort. I don't know if that is true or not or if maybe the skates were old or too new but whatever the case my kids don't want to go back. Since I can't get a refund, I guess I'm out $53. I don't think that is right. They should be more understanding especially when kids are involved. I could see if they skated for half an hour and then said their feet hurt but they literally didn't even skate at all. Thumbs down!

It's a fantastic way to get involved in a group sport, enjoy some skating with friends or loved ones, and/or be a spectator - in their stadium cushioned seating. I watched my husband play a game here recently and it was a blast. There is a decent amount of seating, as well as a snack bar on certain nights. My favorite aspect of High Country though -was their incredible vending machines. They truly have everything in them. From old school favorites like nerds, to classic chocolate bars, and much more. This place is a wonderful local family run business. I highly suggest you check out their website and event schedule to figure out games to enjoy/and or days to stop on by to skate it up. Trust.

im being generous with 2 stars. wanted to try out a new rink than the one i usually go to and it…read morewas a horrible experience and complete waste of money sadly. the ice was jagged and difficult to skate on. the rental boots were absolute garbage, they were bent and i had to trade for a new pair a few times because i quite literally couldn't skate. the place was packed and extremely chaotic, ive never seen a place as chaotic as this one. there was no order on the rink nor outside of the rink where parents were standing. it was an absolute jungle. people were chipping ice off the rink and throwing it at people. i will never return to this rink again.

Kids had to push the puck along with zero glide on its own. Zamboni made no difference as they hardly laid any water down during their ice cut. The one positive feedback I can provide is the smaller rink size fits well for 8U hockey. But they should avoid hosting future tournaments and stick to public skatings and team practices. But that ice needs to be fixed.

Booked a reservation time for Sunday at 3:30 to 6 PM for a birthday celebration. Each person has to…read moresign a waiver on your phone. We had to wait in a little line to check in our reservation before we were able to get in. They give you a wristband and a raffle ticket for the rental skates. They have to do a little bag search and go through a small metal detector for safety. They have one person giving out the rentals to people and run the toy tables. You were able to get quads or in line skates. We pretty much just claim a table to put your stuff there. The rink is pretty big. They have neon lights and music playing. There was a lot of adults and kids skating around. They also had padded rails for the rink. We had two large pizzas, two pitchers of soda, and chicken fries. The food was pretty good and had big portions for 7 of us, but it did take a little while for the food to come out and it was kind of pricey. They had little mini arcade games which was fun for the kids. We event got a small little toy which was only $8. It is definitely a fun place for all ages.

It's been my dream for several years to raft in Yosemite, but there has always been too much/too…read morelittle water flowing. Finally, in June of 2016, conditions were just right! *How to reserve/get a raft: You can wait in line early at the reservations kiosk near the Curry Valley/Half Dome Valley check-in center. The kiosk opens at 10, the line for renting bikes/rafts (same line) is long, and rafts are first-come/first-served. NOTE!! Only 100 rafts go out each day according to NPS rules. So when rafts become physically available at 11 and people go out on their raft, even if they return it in an hour, that raft does not go out again. RAFTING SELLS OUT FAST! I found this out to my dismay (we planned to raft on a Tuesday), but, happily, I could reserve a raft for the next day (Wednesday was cooler but still beautiful). We let them know we wouldn't be putting in until the afternoon to make sure the crew didn't think we were no-shows. *Actual rafting: You pick up your raft along with oars and life jacket at a station near shuttle bus stop 13a (I think), just a stroll away from center camp (Curry Village). You have to bring your receipt (your actual physical receipt) and they give you the required life jackets. Sooner or later a crew member conducts a 5-minute group instruction talk, then you grab your raft (cumbersome for two people but do-able) and walk across the street to the river where another crew member helps you launch. I didn't even get my feet wet (none of us did) by pushing off and jumping in at once. Others have described the mellow and gorgeous trip down the river. It's short--we took just about an hour because we didn't stop and frolic on the many riverside beaches (cool air + a cranky rafter in our boat). *At the end: You get to shore (crew calls out to you before you reach the beach plus someone helps with your raft); again, it was easy to stay dry. You drag your raft up, wait in a disorganized group for the shuttle bus, and use your lifejacket as a ticket to get on the bus for the 5-or-so-minute trip back to the rafting pick-up spot. This is a must-do if the river is right. It isn't a great value ($30 pp) but man! what a view. Unless you screw around, you/your stuff will probably not get wet at all. The views of Yosemite Falls were spectacular, though (honestly) the same as from the shore. Ideally go when it is warm so you can freeze yourself silly in the river and then warm up in the raft. PS Why not 5 stars? The information for renting should be on a poster--you have to wait in what can be a 30+ minute line just to figure out what is going on. Like the 100-raft/day thing and the you can reserve in advance thing, both of which are important for planning purposes. I saw so many frustrated people (who were there for a day and couldn't raft) and this could easily be avoided.

There is an incredibly rude and hostile staff member at the Bike/Raft rentals. She never gave us…read moreher name (because she never deigned to speak to us), so I'm going to give you a physical descriptor so others can avoid her, or if you've had a similar experience with this person, I encourage you to leave reviews as well so Yosemite can reconsider having her as a staff member: she appears to be a light-skinned Black woman in her 20s, with locs that are about shoulder-length. She wears dark sunglasses most of the time, and she is overweight, maybe about 5'4 or 5'5. We had several encounters with her both together and separately, and each time she was extremely rude to us for no apparent reason. In one instance, I approached the bike rental and waited politely for her to finish a conversation with a colleague. She never once acknowledged me except to yell at me "EMPLOYEES ONLY" at which point it was her colleague who talked to me and answered my question. She continued to ignore me, not making any eye contact and just standing there while her colleague spoke with me. It was awkward and off-putting, but I put it out of my mind. But then it became a sustained pattern of behavior. In one instance, my cousin went to the bike pick up area to ask bike rental questions. . The rude staff member in question rolled her eyes at my cousin and huffed and puffed under her breath, unprovoked, at my cousin's polite question. She again did not try to answer or talk with my cousin; instead another staff member tried to answer my cousin's questions but also said she wasn't usual bike staff so she didn't know. The rude staff member was there the whole time, and never tried to answer my cousin's questions, even though the rude staff member IS a member of bike rentals because I saw her manning the rentals EVERY DAY. We had a few more encounters with this staff member and she NEVER directly made eye contact with us or spoke to us directly. She would ignore us outright and the only time ever directly spoke to us was to yell at us for trying to ask questions (god forbid I ask a staff member a question). I did notice she answered questions politely and joked around with a group of White guests. I don't know if she has something against Asian folks but I honestly can't figure out why else she would have such an automatic and sustained hostile attitude towards us except for that. If she feels annoyed by doing her customer service job, if polite questions annoy her, she should reconsider her job and go be a ranger on an isolated station or something, and save the rest of us from having to interact with her grouchy ahh.
