He then proceeded to tell me he works with one of the lawyers and they charge $1250 plus any other expenses you may incur including but not limited to mailings etc. I explained to him that before I moved forward I would be calling a few other lawyers to get their rates and he assured me that they wouldn't be the cheapest, but they do thousands of closings, so their reputation speaks for itself. I was offended by his response and to be honest - I found a wonderful lawyer who is working with me for less than 50% of their "going" rate. This to me seems like a lawyer taking advantage of an uneducated consumer.
