Stopped on a Saturday afternoon was greeted by a very pleasant hostess, and we were able to be seated right away. Iced tea fresh and clear. We ordered some queso which was proper consistency mild and tasty. Chips were fresh and our meals were great. I ordered the Iowa harvest chimichanga with rice. Husband ordered à la carte two tacos, rice and beans. Everything was delicious the meat and the tacos and chimichanga was very flavorful. I came to this location because I LOVE the Fiesta in North Liberty and was optimistic they were related. They are related, but Fiesta in Pleasant Hill is the shunned and estranged disappointment cousin of Fiesta North Liberty. The service was slow. The food didn't have much depth of flavor. The margaritas weren't sweet or flavorful. I will say that the restaurant was spacious and decently quiet. I may go for nachos again in the future, but there are better places to go in the greater Des Moines area. read more

This place was great! We were pleasantly surprised. We got food for 5 as takeaway. Website was satisfied! A chicken quesadilla for the four year old, grandpa got pork tacos, grandma got a steak burrito, my husband got birria Ramen, and I got seafood enchiladas. We also got 2 margaritas to go. And a few dips and salsas. The portions were huge especially the Ramen. Everyone liked what they ordered. The guacamole was great too. My seafood enchiladas had a great creamy sauce and the crab and shrimp were well cooked. The margaritas were very strong! We were on an another side of town when the craving of Mexican came on. We really like Fiesta so we decided to try this location. Greeted with smiles as we came in. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. We are a party of 2 and we're seated immediately. The server was attentive and at our table right away. The chips and salsa were on point. They were even kind enough to bring each of us our own salsa bowl. Thanks for not assuming we like each other enough to share. (kidding) I ended up letting the hubby finish my salsa. Hubby ordered a margarita and it came right away. The menu is huge. I kept looking for something and landed on the seafood enchiladas. Two flour tortillas stuffed with shrimp, crab, pico de Gallo. There was yummy cheese on top and avacado. I will share, that my expectation was a little higher on what the sea food would be. What I mean is that the shrimp and crab pieces were in fact, pieces. Very small pieces that I almost would call tidbits. I could tell that it was a form of sea food blend, but I think I was hoping for a little bit more stratifying innards. Not to say it wasn't good. It came out hot, and I did eat most of it. It came with beans and rice. The hubbys California burrito was way more flavorful. He let me take a bite and I wanted to steal it away from him. Whatever choice of meat he had, it was very good. He filled up on that and we sat and talked for a while. The restaurant is very family friendly. Multiple tvs showing multiple shows at the same time. Just Go here, I'll tell ya why. The food here is Amazing and the Michiladas will blow your mind. The Birria tacos melt in your mouth, super tender and spicy beef that you will love. I did. Mostly, I ordered the Carnitas plate to go. Each time was as good the previous one. The plates are plenty enough for the biggest appetite. The guacamole they make here is some of the best I have ever shoved in my mouth. I tell people about it all the time. The full bar has just about anything you'd like. I want to start off by saying I love fiesta - this is generally where we go for Mexican so mixed on how I should review. If I didn't eat this food item, I'd probably keep it at 5 stars because their shrimp Diablo, choripollo, and Al pastor tacos are fantastic. However, last night my husband went in for dinner. Marg was fabulous, chips and salsa great. I ordered one of their new dishes, shrimp and mussels in a Cajun butter sauce. The mussels were sandy. The shrimp must have been bad. They were almost chalky/mushy. I've never had this type of texture to shrimp before. The restaurant did remove the item from the receipt (paid that money directly to the server instead, as I did eat some of it) - would never, ever order these again. Maybe the head on shrimp is what made the texture so weird? Either way. Would never recommend that dish. Presentation was great and the sauce was good, however. We were fans of its predecesaor, El Azteca, but like Fiesta much more. It's cleaner, remodeled and the food quality seems much higher. My wife and I love the guacamole, and the blue margaritas. The carne asade tacos are also excellent. The waitstaff was attentive, and he was also really accomodating with special orders. This place is great for groups or just a quiet meal with family or a date. Kids are definitely welcome, but they also have a full bar. Bottom line is the food is excellent, as is the service. After a four hour plus drive back to the Des Moines area we didn't want to cook at home. Using Yelp, I found this Mexican restaurant just off our path. We arrived around 5:30 pm and there were a few tables with people eating. Walking in there is a bar, seating to eat, and another dining area to the right. Our waiter quickly brought us chips and salsa and asked if we needed a high chair for our daughter. They have a large selection of items on their menu. We ordered the Texas Burritos, Choripollo, and Kid's Grilled Cheese with fries. The food was as expected. My Texas Burritos were good and had just the right amount of cheese sauce. I would have liked a bit more spice/flavor in them. My husband enjoyed his Choripollo and only wished he got more tortillas. Our daughter's grilled cheese looked good and she ate some of it but mostly concentrated on the fries. We would come back again as we were pleased with our meal. I eat at Fiesta once a month. After a monthly meeting I'm in Des Moines for, we usually eat here for lunch. Not once have they disappointed. Incredibly friendly wait staff--and they'll both take your joke and dish them out. Just a head's up. But the food is so good. I recommend the Texas Burrito with steak, but you probably can't go wrong with other options. And the prices are very reasonable. I'd recommend to anyone. read more

This is just Mexican and nothing fancy. I have been twice recently since this is the only Mexican in town. Salsa isn't spicy. Tacos were ok but served with flour shells not corn. I like the food but their customer service needs a lot of work. Waiters are rude, one example ordered a coronita and i got a coronarita and the waiter blamed me for their mistake. Said he wasn't taking it back because there was no one else that would drink it. Not the first time I get that waiter and he's always rude. There was only one good waiter that helped us at the end. We loved this place! Our server Jose took care of us really well. My husband had the Hawaiian tacos. He accidentally poured the salsa all over his tacos...(we both thought it was a sweet salsa?)...no, it was straight up jalapeño salsa. Seeds and all. Fire!!!!! Dang. Watch out for that. I took maybe a 1/2 tsp of that stuff, and my nose watered ASAP. So...word of warning to taste the salsa before you use it. I had the fajitas. Shrimp and chicken. Yum yum yum. Served with rice, beans, guac, sour cream and pico. It was delicious. Tons to bring home for lunch next day. The beers were cold and we left stuffed.
