The workers don't wear their mask. If we hadn't paid for the pizzas we would have left.

We ended up just wandering around the area looking for an alternative and stumbled upon Osteria La Briccola; I'm always down for Italian, and it looked like there were some good options for the members of our group who were gluten free. There were 7 of us though, and we were told it would be about a 50-minute wait for a table. It was getting kind of late to be looking for somewhere else to go, so we were like okay, we'll just sit and wait. As we were walking away, the general manager Daniel rushed out and said if we could give him 15 minutes, he could have us set up in the private dining room. We didn't even know such a thing existed, but we said okay, cool. Reader, it could not have possibly been a better experience. We waited a bit (less than 15 minutes, even) and walked into this private space to find a large family-style dining table all set up for us, with candlelight and music and the whole bit. Our server Patrick was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the menu, able to answer all our questions, and had a great sense of humor. Everyone ordered something different and ended up trying bites of each other's food, and it was all delicious. Several of us even ordered dessert; I don't normally, but the salted caramel gelato sounded too good to pass up (and it was well worth it). It was such a great evening and was, I'm sure, 10x better than the other place we'd originally planned on eating at. Thank you Daniel and Patrick for taking such good care of us!

The restaurant's decor is charming, reminiscent of a classic Italian eatery. However, as soon as I stepped inside, I was greeted by a musty, moldy odor. Despite this unpleasant smell, we decided to take a seat. The first bread basket they served us was cold, with hard bread that seemed to have been sitting out for quite some time. It was nothing special, tasting like the inexpensive garlic bread you find in grocery stores, packaged for the oven. Fortunately, our server was attentive and friendly, bringing us a second basket of hot bread. I attempted to appreciate the mediocre bread but ultimately gave up. Throughout our meal, the server consistently checked on us and ensured our drinks were filled. We ordered a variety of dishes: lunch lasagna, lunch Alfredo, a kid's spaghetti with two meatballs, a large Caesar salad, and a 16" Audrey pizza topped with white garlic sauce, dried red peppers, artichoke hearts, chicken, and bacon. The first dish to arrive was the Caesar salad, which was disappointing. The dressing lacked complexity, missing the necessary lemon juice and anchovies. The red sauce on the lasagna tasted like it came straight from a jar, and the lasagna itself was quite unremarkable. The fettuccine Alfredo was lacking in flair as well. The portion was small, and I would recommend adding a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce and garnishing the dish with fresh Italian parsley for a better flavor. Surprisingly, the kid's plate of spaghetti and meatballs was priced at $19. I couldn't understand how that was justified. The spaghetti was overcooked, lacking the desired al dente texture, and the marinara sauce was bland. The meatballs were dense and needed more seasoning. The wood-fired pizza was the highlight of the meal for me. However, I believe they left it in the oven for a minute or two too long. I conducted a slice challenge: when I lifted a slice, it wouldn't fold at all and was overly crispy, indicating it was overbaked. For dessert, we chose cannoli and tiramisu. Unfortunately, both desserts felt average, and I was not particularly excited about either. I understand that the economy is challenging and making a profit in the restaurant industry is difficult. However, given the numerous positive reviews, I anticipated a higher standard from this establishment. Basic elements like quality bread and homemade marinara sauce could significantly enhance the dining experience. In general, my family was not particularly impressed with the food quality. On a positive note, the server and the busgirl/front end greeter were very friendly. Regrettably, I will not be ordering from here again, nor will I recommend this restaurant to others.

We showed up at 5 and were greeted by the same fabulous woman as last time. You just know that someone that kind and welcoming would not own a place she wasn't rightfully proud of. She sets the tone and all the employees carry it through the entire meal. We chose to try the patio tonight and it was cozy yet open, darker with a couple of fire lights around the room. Intimate. Some of the tables are separated by live plants in planter boxes. We loved it. We started with the beets (with shaved fennel pieces and a citrus vinaigrette with a tahini yogurt sauce on the bottom) and burrata (with grilled pieces of bread and sugar snap peas and capers) appetizers - both were delicious. Randy wanted to try another of their off menu drinks. We can't remember what this drink is called but it's not on the menu and has some Mai tai mix and orange bitters ... like a mock Mai tai spritzer. Delicious - Randy had two! I got the mushroom bolognese - so good. It's home made (!) bucatini pasta with a mushroom (cremini, oyster and shiitake) and san Marzano tomato sauce with burrata on top. I love mushrooms but Randy does not and he loved this dish. The mushrooms taste meaty. Randy ordered the Carbonara again and it was also delicious. We also got an order of garlic bread this time and wow. We each have half of our dinners left, lucky us. We shared the creme brûlée which came with a lavender short bread cookie. Perfect. Everything was perfect. The place was packed and all employees were calm and efficient and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Mistakes…read morewere made by multiple aspects of the restaurant and a member of our party who communicated very clearly that she has Celiac was served a dish with bread. I truly want to like this restaurant, but I have had some really mixed experiences. The ambiance is very nice - it can get a little loud in the dining room, but the tables are comfortable, the lighting is appropriate, and the decor is interesting. The wine list is phenomenal and the reason I brought friends on my most recent visit. The menu is really hit and miss. There are some dishes that are excellent (some things even sell out before the evening is over), but unfortunately, not all. The hostess is absolutely wonderful - she is charming and funny and really has a talent for making you feel welcome and appreciated for dining with them. Unfortunately, the service is really hit and miss. On my last visit, the waitress really didn't seem like she had time for us. She didn't take the time to explain in much detail about menu items or the wine list. She didn't participate in any banter with us or really make us feel welcome. She seemed rushed, which has not been my experience with service here in the past. My biggest concern, though, is about the efforts of the staff and kitchen to keep items allergen-free. The restaurant advertises itself as a place that is Celiac knowledgeable and friendly. We made it clear in our reservation and to the waitress when we sat down at the table that one member of our party had Celiac and needed to be strictly gluten free. All seemed well and we ordered two appetizers marked as gluten free on the menu. One of those appetizers was served with bread. After the food had been delivered, the waitress must have noticed the issue and offered to have the kitchen remake the dish. We agreed (she left the original plate on the table and in the end we were only charged for one, so all good). The re-made dish was brought out, with bread on the side. There should not have been bread at all, it was very confusing. All in all I would return one more time and hope to have a different experience, but if that experience was the same as my recent one, I likely would not return.
