OMG. This place is the restaurant to try out for authentic Italian. Great food! Ample portions, fresh and very reasonably priced! The only good thing about this restaurant was the friendly service. We ordered the eggplant parmigiana and lasagna. -- The amount of peppers in the eggplant was overwhelming. Couldn't even taste the eggplant. A traditional eggplant parmigiana does NOT have any peppers. -- as bad as the eggplant parmigiana was, it was better than the lasagna, which was as the absolute worst we ever had. The pasta layers weren't thin and resembled polenta. The cheese layers were practically non-existent cheese. There weren't any layers meat or sauce. For a restaurant where you order at the counter and get your own beverage from the fridge, $60+ is WAY overpriced (especially considering the abysmal quality of the food). read more

My husband and I took our friend there a few Fridays ago. He had the fettuccine Alfredo. I had the special which was raviolis in a mushroom, white wine, cream sauce and my husband had the Chicken Parmigiana. Everyone's food was delicious and their servings were very generous, especially the chicken parmigiana my husband got. He was served two chicken breast on top of the pasta. Prices were decent in. The service was great. You order up at the counter, but the servers do everything else. Will definitely be going back there soon. read more

Hubby found this restaurant on Google and I checked out reviews on Yelp. As soon as I saw the one from the lifelong New Yorker who said the food was the real (Italian) deal, I was sold as I agree Italian food on the West Coast is not always a guarantee. Located in an unassuming strip mall, this is a small place (4 tables outside and about 7-8 inside). You order at the counter and the food is brought to you. I don't know the name of the young woman (only employee we saw) but she was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the garlic bread and yes, it was very good. Hubby had spaghetti and meatballs and loved it. I had the Sweety Pep Pesto Pasta and, as advertised, it was spicy! Both portions were generous so we each got two meals out of it. Note: the restroom is shared with all other businesses in the strip mall and could use a little more attention (almost out of soap and my door did not latch). What a find! Being an Italian from NY I am very skeptical of anything Italian here in Oregon but this place is far and away the best food anywhere! The sauce is amazing, pasta cooked Al dente. Leila greeted us as we entered. She was friendly and knew the menu. You order at the front area and the menu is posted there. I caught a glimpse of the lasagna and wanted to try it because it was made with a béchamel. We also ordered the pasta with meatball. The one meatball is very large. I love they give you a beautiful bottle of water so you can refill your own glasses. The food is fantastic, service was kind. Ambiance is homey with family photos on the wall. It's a small place with limited seating. Being able to order at a table would bring this to 5 stars. read more

REALLY wanted to like this little place, as I'm a resident of Rogue River and I try to support all local businesses. A friend of mine who was in town and I tried it a couple of nights ago....and neither of us were very impressed. I felt the prices for the little town of Rogue River were on the high side and everything is an "add on".....salad, garlic bread, a bottle of coke was $4. Our two meals were "okay" but nothing special. We both walked out knowing we wouldn't go out of our way to visit this restaurant again. I've eaten Italian food in Italy, NYC and Chicago, arguably the best locales in the world for Italian food. I can tell you that Paisanos rates right there with the best of the best and is the best Italian food in the Southern Oregon area. The meatballs, cold subs and Chicken Alfredo are my go to meals but honestly everything on the menu is superb. On most Fridays you can get their cannoli, but only if you get there early. It's a bit pricey, however, you get what you pay for - organic, healthy and scrumptious. I highly recommend that you try Paisanos at least once, but only if you want to keep returning over and over! lol read more

I went for lunch on a Thursday. The service was excellent and it was quiet at that time. Lots of people coming in for take out orders. It's small, but a cute little place. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce, which was delicious, and it came with the best homemade bread. 10 years ago I met an older Italian lady in Grants Pass and she told me the ONLY restaurant she goes to is Paisanos, which was a 40 min drive from her home. Since then I never pass by Rogue River without stopping by to eat something and leave with a baguette to take home, if they can spare one. We've been coming down here every year for a few years now and this is the first time that we tried Paisano's. It my birthday. I saw some of the previous reviews about their amazing lasagna. We went in early so about lunchtime the salad was very good. The salad dressing was awesome. The lasagna over the top. Service was awesome. Ambience very comfortable and amazing. We were looking over the sandwich menu. We will definitely go back for the dinner time stuff, but we want to try the lunchtime stuff too. We highly recommend it. read more

We love Italian food, and always love finding a restaurant that's family owned and run. We also love finding an Italian restaurant that serves more than pizza and spaghetti. This place is great! It has homemade, delicious food that goes the gambit from ravioli to lasagna, pasta primavera and eggplant parmesan (my favorite)! If you're into spaghetti and meatballs, then you have found your home in Rogue River, Oregon. The atmosphere is lively and casual, like jeans and tee shirt casual. Their prices are reasonable, and I heartily recommend that you either bring your own containers or be prepared to get some to go containers there, because you will have left-overs unless you belong to the class I call Godzilla eaters!! Their portions are generous, hot to your table, and full of spices and flavor. They're located on the backside of the strip mall and have outdoor seating. The first thing that comes to your table is a bottle of water for all of you, a menu and pretty good service. The portions look quite small for the price but let me assure you that they mislead the eye!, my kids and I came here for the first time since moving to Oregon and this place has awesome service and such a good family oriented environment. Cute little Italian eatery in Rogue River. Great wines, sandwiches and pasta selections. I've gotten the Sicilian sandwich, meatball sandwich and the spaghetti and meatballs from here. All HUHE portions and just so delicious. I've also tried two different desserts: the lemon ricotta cookie and the white chocolate blueberry bread pudding. The lemon ricotta cookies were decent; they had a unique flavor but they weren't my favorite. THE BREAD PUDDING SHOULD WIN AN AWARD FOR SPECTACULAR DESSERTS cause it was so freaking amazing! My husband and I made the mistake of splitting it because it was such a good size portion but after one bite I regretted that decision and wished that I had just ordered one for myself. Absolutely great made to order pastas and finely crafted Italian sandwiches. Had the pesto pasta and wife had the lasagna with the best garlic bread. They make their own sourdough!!! Portions were more than ample. The lasagna was easily enough for 2. Pesto pasta came with bucatini pasta was a work or gastronomical art. I added a house salad for $5.00 and it was better than any i've had at fancy restaurants charging twice the price! Top rate no frills made to order Italian pastas and related dishes at very reasonable prices. This is the second time we have stayed in Grants Pass. The first time we discovered Paisano's and loved it! On our way back we stayed in Grants Pass again and couldn't wait to go to Paisanos but it was Sunday and they were closed. Fast forward to today and we are in Grants Pass again. We went to Paisanos for dinner, had the Giacomo's Primavera, and it was perfection. Did I mention that the serving is so big we bring half back for lunch tomorrow? We will be coming back to Grants Pass again on our way home in a few days and can't wait to go to Paisanos again. And....the service is EXCELLENT! Reservations are a good idea. Wow! A gem of a restaurant in Rogue River! Limited vegan options, but the staff is knowledgeable and super kind and they will make the necessary changes to dishes for plant-based diners. I ordered gluten-free pasta with the olio sauce - a banging garlic/oil sauce that usually contains butter. The staff made no problem out of excluding the butter, and they even recommended adding vegetables to the dish. It was sooooo good! The green beans were cooked to a fresh and crunchy consistency and the olio sauce was rich and flavorful without the butter. Even if you're not plant-based, I recommend ordering it this way. The gluten-free pasta is some of the best I've ever had. Soft but not falling apart, and teeming with the garlic flavor of the olio. The only thing that broke my heart at this spot was the table ware. Holy single-use items, OMG. It was a tragedy. It's the main reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 5. Literally everything came in single-use form, except the reusable metal fork and knife (a strange contradiction in itself). Ugly, single-use wax-coated paper take-out containers were used to serve the beautiful and delicious food. My salad came in a plastic clamshell with a paper plate for me to dump it out on. The salad dressing came in a small plastic cup with a lid. Paper napkins. The oil/vinegar dipping sauce came in a paper boat. This place is swimming in single-use table ware and it is a depressing part of an otherwise fantastic dining experience. Stumbled across this little gem-quite serendipitous. It is very small order at the counter style deli. They have a few tables inside and a few outside. The lady working the counter was very sweet and answered all my questions with a sincere smile, even made suggestions when they were out if what I had originally wanted. I had their cheese ravioli and my husband had a spicy Italian sandwich. Both were good and very filling. The lasagna or eggplant parmigiana is what I want to try next. I was surprised that my pasta was served in a togo box, but I imagine they do most of their business as togo and it's easier that way.
