In all, I made five phone calls to try to line up estimates on having slates replaced. Two never bothered to return the call. One called back 3-4 days later. Another called back 2 days later. (That guy, the Coplay, not Bensalem Romano, said he "doesn't do" estimates on slate replacements.) Just one called back that very day, and boy, did we luck out - J & M Roofing. We already knew the rough going price of slate replacement and J & M was right in the pocket. The boss, Greg, was a charming and down to earth guy and his son (he has two in the business with him) made a point of stopping by swiftly and taking pictures that were emailed to us to show exactly what needed replacing. Greg has been in the business a long time and knows how to ration his time. Quicker jobs like ours get reserved for days of iffy weather and weekends, and indeed, the following weekend he and one son and one helper showed up and got the job done in short order. The job was done just recently so I can't tell you about durability. I can tell you that we were happy with the speed of response, and that all the workers were personable and cleaned up afterwards decently. Throughout the process, Greg was a good and consistent communicator too. They seem to be stand-up craftsmen who want to do a good job at all costs and don't treat their customers like just another number. What really stood out was the level of ownership from the team--Jeff, the owner, sent his siding manager over to fix a section of our siding that had warped from having our grill too close to the house. I got his name and number from my vet actually so I had to cancel the appointment because water was pouring out of my ceiling which I thought was a roofing issue from my porch. It turned out that it was a heating pipe that split. My daughter told me that the floor upstairs was soaked. I ran upstairs I pulled up the carpet and it was scolding to the touch. There was a lot of steam coming off the floor. I ended up calling the fire company going way over the extreme, but by that point I had already called Dale Rimmer. He ended up getting here as fire company was leaving ( which was 20 minutes ) He did explain on the phone that it was probably just steam coming off the floor. He remained with me at the house until I had somebody able to come out and fix the pipe( the fire company turned off my boiler as it was pouring water into my house). I'm also leaving a review for my Fire company. I've never needed them in all my years living here, but they were downright amazing and the same thing with the police downright amazing. We also had a new flagstone walkway installed and our deck refurbished. The new siding, gutters and downspouts completed the makeover of our home's exterior.
