On August 25th my neighbors had their roof done by Banes. We live in a twin (important info)…read more During the day and a half of the project my entire front yard was covered in their supples and tools. This also included a lawn sign that was several feet over he property line into our yard. Upon completion of the project (after "clean up") we found pieces of shingles and debris all over our yard. We have two dogs and one attempted to eat a shingle before we realized they were in our yard. I figured I would just let it go. Yesterday 9/21, I went up to our attic. I had not been up there since before the 8/25 project. As I begin walking up our steps I see pieces of wood and debris on the stairs. I was confused but assumed it was just dust from the banging of the project next door. As I turn the corner into my attic, I was shocked to find several more larger pieces of wood and much much more debris. Including large nails. Shocked, I went over to see where they came from. As I approached I could clearly hear the outside, as if a window was open. I look up along the wall I share with my neighbor to find that wooden beams in OUR attic had been haphazardly ripped out and our ceiling was replaced with something. I did not know what at the time. In that moment I was just shocked but so pissed. Our roof/ceiling was tampered with and worked on without any permission. OUR HOME. OUR PROPERTY. We did not sign anything. We did not see a contract. We did not know this had happened. The wood was just literally ripped out, and there was evidence of this very clearly on our ceiling and our floor. What if that was our bedroom? The roofers did not know what they were cutting into and could have easily began cutting into our room. According to Tom Banes Jr. "We could throw what if's around BUT....". But what? WHEN (not IF) we go to sell our home, that attic ceiling is going to look horrible the way the wood is ripped out unless Banes fixes it properly. I call immediately (10:18 am) and speak with Jean. I was told "the person I need to speak with is in a meeting and he will call me back". 1:03 pm rolls around and I call back. I should not have waited that long as it was an urgent situation that we needed resolved. From our perspective, this was serious. We had no clue what was going on with our roof. Jean repeats that "they are busy so just wait for a call back". I told her "no thank you, please go get someone that I can speak to now as I should not have been waiting 3 hours, and I will not continue to wait". She then says again "they are in meetings all day out of the office", so I asked for the contact number of whoever "they" are. She gives me the number to Tom Banes Jr. I begin to thank her and ask her to please relay that I called again, but I will be calling Tom Jr as well. Before I could finish my sentence she hangs up on me. I guess because I am not a paying customer I do not deserve her respect and professionalism. Not the way to do business, my friend. Tom Jr and I schedule a meeting for him to come out at 2:30 pm to take a look at our attic. He arrives right on time and we head up. He explains it is a ridge vent and "it will only benefit us as it adds ventilation to our space". Ok, fair. Great, even! However, we did not give permission for this to occur. We did not sign anything. We had no clue that they touched our roof. I asked why we were not asked for permission or notified that they were literally going to be cutting into our roof and ripping out our ceiling and Tom Jr nonchalantly said "usually the neighbors communicate that". Not a good answer. During this conversation there was no type of apology for the lack of communication. There was no type of accountability taken for this. At this point we are just angry that we were not informed that our roof and ceiling would be ripped out. Tom Jr said "we have been in business for 71 years and we did not get here by blowing smoke up peoples asses". At this point, I wonder how you got here, because this is unethical. Tom Sr, please call me to resolve properly.

I recently had the pleasure of working with David from Max Pro Roofing on a full-house vinyl siding…read morereplacement, and I can say without hesitation that the experience was exceptional from start to finish. David was outstanding in every aspect of the job -- from the initial consultation to the final cleanup. The quality of the installation speaks for itself: clean lines, precise finishes, and a clear attention to detail that reflects true craftsmanship. But what stood out even more was the professionalism of David and his crew. They approached the work with care, integrity, and a clear commitment to getting things done right. There were a few unexpected hurdles along the way -- as is common with older homes -- and David handled each one with the kind of initiative and accountability that's rare these days. For example, when we uncovered complications during the removal of an old kitchen fan that required electrical work, David didn't pass the burden onto me. He coordinated directly with an electrician to ensure the issue was addressed properly and safely. Another example: when removing the power meter, we found it had been mounted poorly by a prior contractor. Rather than cutting corners, David again brought in an electrician -- driving an hour each way to make sure it was fully corrected before reinstalling. His communication throughout the project was excellent. I always knew where things stood, what was coming next, and where he or his team were working. He consistently explained any challenges we ran into with clarity, laid out my options, and offered well-considered recommendations without pressure. David was realistic, transparent, and respectful of both my time and my home. If you're looking for a team that will treat your project with the level of care and attention you'd expect for their own home -- Max Pro Roofing is it. In short: If you want your siding done right, want to be treated like a true partner in the process, and want to feel confident in the results, don't think twice about hiring Max Pro.

Having to hire a slate roofer in the Allentown area (rather than relying on our old one in another…read morearea) turned out to be a re-education about the difficulty of finding a reputable and responsive roofer. In all, I made five phone calls to try to line up estimates on having slates replaced. Two never bothered to return the call. One called back 3-4 days later. Another called back 2 days later. (That guy, the Coplay, not Bensalem Romano, said he "doesn't do" estimates on slate replacements.) Just one called back that very day, and boy, did we luck out - J & M Roofing. We already knew the rough going price of slate replacement and J & M was right in the pocket. The boss, Greg, was a charming and down to earth guy and his son (he has two in the business with him) made a point of stopping by swiftly and taking pictures that were emailed to us to show exactly what needed replacing. Greg has been in the business a long time and knows how to ration his time. Quicker jobs like ours get reserved for days of iffy weather and weekends, and indeed, the following weekend he and one son and one helper showed up and got the job done in short order. The job was done just recently so I can't tell you about durability. I can tell you that we were happy with the speed of response, and that all the workers were personable and cleaned up afterwards decently. Throughout the process, Greg was a good and consistent communicator too. If you're looking for an experienced roofer - and one who knows slate - definitely include J & M Roofing in your considerations.

He didn't overcomplicate the project or load me up with roofing jargon like other contractors did. Their quote came in customized to our project and was built to have no large "extra material " surprises when the project closed. They were always communicative and friendly about the project. When they encountered a situation that was abnormal, they walked me through the issue and offered resolutions that would've cost them money. They seem to be stand-up craftsmen who want to do a good job at all costs and don't treat their customers like just another number. If you are going to invite anyone to do work on their home especially on your roof, they are the type to get.

Kyle, our sales rep, spent a significant amount of time with us walking through all of our options without any pressure. He was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure we felt confident in our decisions. What really stood out was the level of ownership from the team--Jeff, the owner, sent his siding manager over to fix a section of our siding that had warped from having our grill too close to the house. It was a bit of an eyesore, and they took care of it free of charge. That kind of service is rare. They're genuinely nice people and make the whole process incredibly easy. The installation crew was incredibly professional. They arrived before 7 AM and started right on time. Throughout the day, we were kept updated via their client portal with frequent photo updates, which was a great touch and gave us peace of mind while we were out. They talk a lot about quality and service--and they absolutely deliver on it. Highly recommend North Star to anyone looking for roofing or exterior work.

I got his name and number from my vet actually so I had to cancel the appointment because water was pouring out of my ceiling which I thought was a roofing issue from my porch. It turned out that it was a heating pipe that split. My daughter told me that the floor upstairs was soaked. I ran upstairs I pulled up the carpet and it was scolding to the touch. There was a lot of steam coming off the floor. I ended up calling the fire company going way over the extreme, but by that point I had already called Dale Rimmer. He ended up getting here as fire company was leaving ( which was 20 minutes ) He did explain on the phone that it was probably just steam coming off the floor. He remained with me at the house until I had somebody able to come out and fix the pipe( the fire company turned off my boiler as it was pouring water into my house). I'm also leaving a review for my Fire company. I've never needed them in all my years living here, but they were downright amazing and the same thing with the police downright amazing. We also had a new flagstone walkway installed and our deck refurbished. The new siding, gutters and downspouts completed the makeover of our home's exterior. Dale was personally involved and was quick to answer and questions or concerns we had. All of the people took pride in their work and the results show it.

Tim said "No problem - I'll tell my guys to get more tarps and we will be up today to tarp your roof". I'll call you later with a status. We started to worry around 2:30 and called to see if we could get an updated status, but only got voicemail. We tried to forced ourself to be patient, but when it started to get late about 3:30 pm we started to call all the office numbers. Then it was dark. No one was available and we left many many messages. Figuring that perhaps his phones were down due to the storm - I sent an e-mail to him from his website. We could receive calls / voicemails on our cell phones - so we couldn't figure out why we did not receive any call that he would not make it that day. I guess our question is answered! He isn't doing the job as it is now Friday November 2nd and the man NEVER called us to tell us that he could not make it. Never go with a company who is so unprofessional to tell a customer that he'll be there and doesn't show up. Especially when things are so bad due to an emergency. I would accept that some other priority kept him, but to never call us back or respond to any voicemail? Really? Tim - I've read other reviews on other sites and I've noticed that you blame all negative reviews on competitors. I'm not a competitor. I WAS your customer. Shame on you.
