The service was good and friendly, and the food was brought out in a timely manner. My husband and I ordered the seafood platter with small salads. The salad was good and my husband's fried seafood was good. My grilled seafood wasn't bad, but looked and tasted unusual for grilled fish - a dark color and very highly seasoned. The taste was so strong that all three (flounder, scallops, shrimp) tasted the same. As we walked out the door, I picked up a brochure with the menu in it; later as I looked at this, I realized they must have given me "blackened" seafood instead of the grilled I ordered. Since I have never had blackened before, I didn't realize the mistake while I was there. There seems to be 2 listings of the same restaurant so I'm posting the same review to each. A bit surprised by all the 5 star reviews as this place is incredibly subpar for a "higher end" restaurant serving steak and seafood. The seafood was just ok, the jambalaya didn't taste like a true jambalaya at all and felt like it was missing some spice. The asparagus was literally raw and not cooked at all. For a wagyu burger it was really lacking flavor, not to mention the lettuce looked old (changing colors if you know what I mean...). The ribs were decent, my mom seemed to like them. The blackened seafood platter was literally drenched in oil and sopping, which was a lot to handle, and the shrimp was a bit tough (not sure the tilapia was the freshest either but didn't get sick so no harm no foul). The broccoli was also loaded with oil, like an excessive amount. It wasn't a god awful experience, it was fine (I guess...) but 5 stars??? Cmon... I think there are better local options around (hopefully). I feel bad writing this as the people serving our to go order were very nice, but I feel the need to be honest about the actual food and flavor, as I can't comment on the service quality at all since we got take out. read more

Presentation is certainly not Filet's strong suit... but then again neither is the taste. Low quality food at medium-high prices. We had the fried calamari as a starter - basically rubber with dipping sauce. For my entree, I ordered the seafood crepes; everything was wrong with it from the undercooked texture of the crepes to the bland flavor. My husband got the jambalaya which tasted like glorified spaghettios sauce with some Cajun seasoning over rice. (My husband will eat anything, and never complains. Even HE didn't want my crepes, and said "nailed it" about the spaghettio "jambalaya".) The only good thing was our server was polite, but she did not bother to comp my dish, even though I only took a couple bites before giving up on it. Definitely do not recommend. Respond to owner: Actually, Denise, what you've said here is not true at all: 1) As I told you in the restaurant, I would have been happy to have gotten a replacement if that had been offered. But the truth was that our server never once came by to ask us about our food after I started eating it. I took two bites and was done, from which point on the plate sat in the center of the table. So while our server passed by numerous times, she didn't come back until the end. When I told her I didn't like it, her response was to ask my husband if he wanted it. You were never in the room until I requested the meal to come off the bill. 2) Your response was to come and make passive aggressive comments to me about it being my fault to not have gotten a replacement until I told you in person a replacement meal was never offered. 3) You never did "remove it from the bill"". You gave a partial discount! What about any of the above is "prompt" and how on earth do you describe a partial discount on my entree "removal" from the bill? So in short: terrible food. I lived in Greensboro for about 4 years and would make a point to eat Filet monthly if not more. The food is always fresh and there is such a great variety that any group will be pleased. I moved to a big city in Florida and never found anything that offered the same taste. I just recently moved back, and on my very first night in town, I went straight to Filet and ordered the panko chicken and it was even better than the first time I had it. Anytime I'm there, to go order or even dine in, I feel overly welcomed and get greeted with a smile. I also appreciate how involved the owner is. You can tell she truly cares about her business and everyone's experience. Recently, I had to go on a very special and specific diet and the Filet team has been more than accommodating for that as well. Since my move a month ago, I've already eaten there 6 times. It is hard to not keep going back when it keeps checking so many boxes. There really is no comparison to Filet. I'm eating a pizza now and regretting every bite. I should have spent that money on a number of delicious dishes at Filet instead. Guess I know where I'm going for dinner tomorrow! read more

We were staying down the road & were going to Linger Longer but they couldn't get us in before 8p. So I ran across Filet Steak & Seafood on Yelp & was like let's give it a try. If it fails or we can't get a seat (no reservations for less than 8,) we have options right nearby. Well, it's a cute spot with a very eclectic client base---at least the Saturday night we were there trying to dry out from the rain. We had the cutest server. She was a little older than us and was sporting Christmas light headgear and just had the perfect personality. I had the filet and it was very tender. For me I could have gone with a little more seasoning but totally fine. Some may think I season mine too much. I will just say that after the filet included my salad and loaded baked potato, I thought I was going to explode. We were in town for the weekend to celebrate a birthday and made dinner reservations at Filet for a group of 15 people. When we arrived we were immediately seated and quickly greeted by our server for drinks and apps. Our service was amazing. Drinks and food arrived quickly, water was always refilled and throughout the meal empty plates were removed from the table. I ordered the spicy cajun seafood pasta and it was very tasty. The portions are big so plenty for leftovers. For my drink I ordered the French 75 and although I've never had one before, it wasn't my favorite. We came In while the shift was changing and were instantly greeted by everyone. We chose to sit at the bar to be able o see everything and get the feel of the place. A bit heavy on the aoli sauce for my liking,but full of flavor. Fresh bread sliced and presented with sundries tomato tapenade.....one could lick the dish clean. The seasonal special of Sea bass over a seafood risotto......a huge portion of bass with a crispy sear, perfectly cooked. Flakey and juicy. The risotto was more like a rice but loaded with flavor, corn, assorted pieces of fish and peppers. The seared sea scallops were delicate with a reduction of balsamic. The spinach and salutes vegetables were crunchy and seasoned. We passed on the dessert but the selection had something for every taste. Definitely will be back.... I've been trying to eat here for a while now. Every time I come through they are closed, so I thought tonight was finally going to be the night. So I called to make sure they were open till 10:00, when I said I was going to be there at 9:20 they informed me, not to come. The kitchen closes at 9:15. So I ended up going to the chop House in Madison and got there at 9:20. Got took right in Staff was great and left at 10:15 and they did not rush me out. Undoubtedly it does not meant for me to patronize just restaurants. In Response: It would just make more sense to put your hours closing at 9:15pm which is more accurate of your business. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant at all. We visited o bc a Tuesday evening, when there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. They still sat us at a high top by the front door, the servers visibly argued who would take our table. My son had a 6 oz filet which was market price! $42 bucks for something that was in his words, eaten in three bites and had no taste. I had the chicken special that was equally very small, it almost looked like it came from done else's plate, it was Luke warm and just sad. We had the check on our table before we finished a little bit of our meal . Too bad the service prior wasn't that attentive. This May have been the place years ago but it's time gas past.
