The food. Plain and simple. The service by the hostess and Jamie was great, but we sent the French onion soup because it had herb stems and parts of onions not to be eaten. The server agreed and showed it to the chef and we saw him laugh from our table. Unacceptable! The hamachi and yellow tail was flavorless on the seafood tower, however the rest of the tower was good. I had the broiled lobster with roasted vegetables that did not seem to have a grain of seasoning. Pretty, but flavorless. For the prices, I expect better. The chef laughing about our issue with the soup is unforgivable. A nice restaurant, a little noisy, but the food isn't as good as the decor. An odd touch is they serve complimentary cotton candy after your meal. We will never return here. read more

We were so excited to try this restaurant located on the Ritz property. It was our first time in the area and we love Lake Oconee. Trying to find a lake house can be difficult when it's a second home but enjoying a steakhouse shouldn't be as pain staking. The food was good, my in laws both had the scallops and wifey and I both had the sea bass. The kids items are spicy for some reason, who puts spicy spaghetti sauce on kids pasta, so we sent that back and ordered the hot dog which was also spicy, he ate most of it but so weird. The server lacked all the energy and passion one would expect at a high end restaurant. When I spend $500 plus I expect some energy, unfortunately this gentleman must have hated his job. Got us in quickly, but downhill from there. There were 5 of us including our 4 year old granddaughter. Took over an hour to get our food. Steak was still not cooked as requested so had to send back and still undercooked. No apologies from manager or waitress even when we complained. A waitress from another table came over to apologize. I get casual dress but this is an expensive steakhouse, have some self respect and that for your fellow diners. My wife and I were in town for our daughters college golf tournament. We were unable to stay at the Ritz because it was a booked but we wanted a great steak dinner . The reservationist called us back very promptly, and it was very easy to book Every person who greeted us from the hostess to the bread and water service personnel greeted us by name. Our server, Monica exhibited a great desire to make our experience the best possible. My wife and I were trying to decide which salad we wanted to split. To our surprise, Monica brought us out both and said one was on the house. when it was a apparent that my bone in fillet was a little overcooked, I can't tell you how many times she apologized immediately and got the proper temperature delivered to me with a new steak. The dining experience was exceptional in every possible way, even with the overcooked initial steak, but they more than made up for it by taking the price of that steak off of my total bill. Only sat at the bar but had the worst service. We sat there for quite a while before the bartender appeared. She informed us that she was in the back doing her banking! And it went downhill from there. I would describe her personality and the service as downright surly. She seemed rather put out that she had to wait on us (a group of three women from the neighborhood affiliated with the Ritz). She was even more put out when she had to do three separate bar bills with our membership numbers, even complaining about how long our last names were (apparently too many letters for her to input!). Mind you, there was only one other patron at the bar so she wasn't busy. We golf at the golf course adjacent to the restaurant on a regular basis, but we will be taking our business elsewhere in the future. Always a great meal with great service anytime we come in. They require you to wear a mask while you go to your table. But obviously can take it off while you are seated. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. We had a party of five. We all loved our food! Also they didn't deliver the bearnaise sauce because they ran out and had to make more. They came out ten minutes later with a new steak that was still over cooked. We didn't know there would be new steak so that was confusing. All in all service was fine except that at those prices it should have been perfect and the food should have been perfect. I would have like to give 3 stars but considering the cost ($500 tip included) it would not be commensurate with the fare The staff at the Ritz couldn't stop talking about the bacon appetizer which was just "meh." The service provided by Morgan started off fine, but then she got a table of 6 or 8 which completely required her attention. The special bone-in ribeye was mediocre at best, the baked potato came to the table cold and the creamed spinach was just okay. Their wine list is heavy with California wines, one might expect a better selection of Italian and French wines. The best selection imho was the ZD cab. All in all this is not a steakhouse one would expect to be associated with a Ritz Carlton. In actuality all the restaurants in the area are just so-so. I imagine if one buys a home in the area it's for the lakes & golf. Be prepared to cook at home. Linger Longer?... couldn't wait to leave. read more

The beef tartare appetizer had ice cream on top and at first, we thought the combination was a bit strange but it was the perfect balance of savory and sweet! We started with octopus which was perfectly prepared and extremely tender. So my wife ate her meal, then mine came out, "re-done", then her dessert came out. I was never asked if I needed anything else or wanted dessert or another drink. The random woman, who I assumed was a manager of some kind, continued to trash talk Alabama, she did not seem to care who she offended, and also offered no apology. She had no class and it showed. This place is my favorite restaurant. We got here every Christmas Eve and for every birthday celebration. Considering it is the closest formal restaurant to Athens they continue to go above and beyond. Their cocktails are very good and the two different spreads that come with the bread at the beginning of the meal are divine. You can not go wrong with any cut of meat but I also highly recommend their fish specials. I am not a big fan of getting fish out because often times it is dry and over cooked but I have never had that problem at Linger Longer. The last time we were there the sun was streaming through the windows and going directly in my mother's eyes. She was frustrated but was trying to not cause a scene, Mikealaus noticed that she was obviously uncomfortable and went above and beyond to remedy the situation. He also was extremely friendly and we enjoyed him throughout our entire experience. I am not sure if he is a full time waiter at this point but if not, I would highly suggest promoting him. We enjoyed his company very much and it made the night even more enjoyable. This is a great spot for both locals and for people visiting the beautiful Ritz at Reynolds Plantation from out of town.
