So what is the album, when was it supposed to have been stolen and can you show me in your records that that album was stolen?????? This is completely insane. ust got screamed at by the cashier in front of a lot of customers, telling me that I am a theif and have stolen records from Ritual. I am a medically retired navy veteran and full time college student and money is tight. I have been selling my treasured record collection to these slimeballs for a fraction of what they are worth as I badly need the money and dont have time for ebay. They have made a lot of money off my albums. She just screamed that she knew I stole because it still had their sticker on it. I have bought many albums from them over the years and it should not be hard to see in their system if that record had even been stolen, I am sure they track it. I have sold them records they dont even sell that I got on Amazon or as gifts over years. Screaming at me and calling me a theif was just disgusting. Having to sell my most prized possessions for pennies to these asses who turn around and make profit while insulting me is insult enough. Thanks again!

I went in and found an interesting $50 record that I'd never heard before. I asked if they had a listening station and the employee immediately shut me down by saying they didn't have one. There was no offer to play the record another way, no attempt to help, and no effort to make the sale. I felt like I was inconveniencing him simply by asking a perfectly reasonable question. There was no one else in the store and he just shut me down. Don't waste your time with Ritual Records.

This store seems a little more geared towards Gen X vintage than the upstairs store, which works for this 40-something just fine. I got the most incredible 1976 "The Wonders of Metrics" lunchbox for a decent price, and they had a ton of Star Wars toys, Barbies, and other 60s & 70s stuff. Yet again, my only complaint is handicap accessibility. I don't know if they have another way in, but the only way I could find was a long staircase inside the upstairs antique mall. I use a cane, and stairs aren't completely out the question for me, but for others they are. If you are disabled and plan on coming here, you might want to check with them first to see if they have an accessible entrance. Note to Disabled: Not even remotely accessible if you have an wheelchair, hard to navigate with a cane or walker, many many stairs, street parking only.

Plus they have DVD, Blu-ray and even laserdisc. Counter gent was an old school movie geek like myself and was super fun to chat movies and the like with. I even headed off to the new sales Videomatica store afterwards and since I bought very little, went back to purchase more including a lessor-seen but reasonably priced Atom Egoyan collection of early films. (They covet the greats!) This store has it all in both rentals and sales - both of which are reasonable. LOVE THIS STORE!!!!!

Late charge (over 7 days for regular titles) is just 50¢/day.

I visited from Bellingham, WA with my family and picked up a few albums, including what I thought was Creedence Clearwater Revival - Pendulum. When I got home, I discovered another Creedence record was inside. I reached out to the store by email, and their team couldn't have been more helpful -- they quickly found the correct album and mailed it to me free of charge. That kind of service is what I look for and it shows how much they care about their customers and the music community. Beyond that, the store itself is fantastic -- a deep and diverse selection, friendly staff, and a great vibe that makes you want to spend hours flipping through the bins. If you love music, Beat Street is absolutely worth a visit. I'll definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in Vancouver!

It is important to note that The Business is not a dusty-crate style record store. Almost all of their vinyl is new or in tremendously good shape. Prices reflect this, but are not unreasonable. Also, this isn't a shop to go hunting for classic rock or bargain bin grails. Their selection is mainly newer artists but with a wide range of genres to be found. Seriously, their bins are bulging with new artists waiting to be heard. They also buy and trade. The staff were friendly and offering to help me search for any genre or artist I was looking for. I quickly thumbed through the Caribbean selection and bought two vinyls. Each was $5, so I thought that was a score. They also have a box of free vinyls outside you can rummage through.

I recently moved to Bellingham and Village Books (and paper dreams) actually really swayed me to move here. Its a book palace, 3 stories of well organized selection. The front facing books are well chosen, and the used books are interspersed with the new books. There are quite a few staff picks sections, all of which are super interesting and worth looking over. Three days before Christmas 2025 I was there trying to pick out a horror book for a friend of mine. Horror is not my genre (more of a fantasy and literature gal myself), so I for sure needed guidance. The shop lady spent so much time reviewing the whole horror section with me . When we couldn't find the main book we decided on me buying, she spent the time looking everywhere for it. She enlisted the help of two additional staff members. When she was needed for another task, she made sure one of the other shop ladies had me covered. I ended up ordering the book, which came in a few days and they texted me when it arrived. Easy peasy! I will never forget that experince, especially as the store was jam packed with x-mas shoppers. Village books in fairhaven is the spot! My only note is that their bookclubs could be better. The bookclubs are during the day and don't have different genre selections (they are mostly nonfiction). There is a silent reading bookclub that I might try. They could be cultivating different types of communities (ie book clubs geared towards romantasy, sci-fi, literature, etc.), but maybe that will come with time.
