Simply put, a fantastic addition to the neighborhood and city as a whole. I know some people miss the Old Dundee Bar & Grill. And Dugger's Cafe. But in due time I hope no one has any hard feelings. Renovating this once Vaudevillian theater is way better than what had been going on for years--a great decay. (Side note: I once interviewed the former owner of the theater and he said Harry Houdini even performed here like 100 years ago. Cool.) Now the space is modern and set up to promote film as an art form for decades to come. The theater has been updated, complete with new seats and projector. There's even a smaller theater that sits maybe 20 people, showing all sorts of great films. And in the middle of it all is the fantastic Kitchen Table Central space, which is warm and inviting and would be a great place to gather with some friends, work on the laptop or enjoy a bite before/after a film. This is a major score for Omahans. Hope you get there soon and enjoy some movies!

    Waiting for Payne.

The remodel is great. The entrance is no longer on Dodge. Much, much larger. The tiny snack bar is now a cool restaurant. The windows on the south side are a great touch. I think Susie Buffett, Dick and Mary Holland, Alexander Payne et al. got their money's worth. Kudos to the architect. At this location, it appears that they will screen popular movies and not just limit their features to indies. I also like the special events. A great addition to Omaha.

Gorgeous new version of the classic Dundee Theater. First class remodelling job is soon to be the Crown Jewel of independent film in Omaha.

My family and I love going to the movies, and we have opted for the season pass at times because of how often we come here. The ambiance is very comfortable, lush, and reminds me of old school movie theaters. Each set of seats has a table (and a purse hook, which I love) to give you a true dining experience while watching your favorite films. The Alamo consistently does movie series, and will show reruns or specials, one of my favorites being the Max Fleischer series featuring Betty Boop shorts. I love the opportunity to see older movies in theaters, and the Alamo does an amazing job of making the experience all-encompassing. I have been to one of their special brunch showings of White Christmas, for which they had a fun themed menu. It was truly the most fun and festive movie showing, and I would highly recommend getting the Alamo app to see what is showing in the future. Some movies are better on the big screen, and the Alamo consistently delivers. The menu is also great and I have always enjoyed everything I eat from here. I always try a burger and a new mixed drink, but their loaded fries are A+ and I would advise ordering them! The staff is incredibly kind, and very speedy. In the rare instance that my order has been forgotten, they have been very prompt in correcting the mistake. As someone who is tired of attending movies just to hear chatting and snickering, which I have had to deal with at other Omaha theaters, the Alamo has a strict no-phone, no-talk, no arriving late policy, which I personally feel makes the experience even better. They truly value the customer experience, and I will continue to come here time and time again.

Showing tickets at concessions was a little confusing, I was used to the ticket office. We did ScreenPlay for the kids could play 30 minutes before and after Mario 3. Super fun! The movie was great, the seats were comfy, and the kids had the best time at the playground. The ticket prices were reasonable given the extra play. Highly recommend. Though the parking lot it looks like a sketchy, tired old building with almost no investment on the exterior. Walking in feels like you've stepped into a zombie movie lobby faded ticket stands, old school vibes, and no polish whatsoever. Then you walk past all that and boom, it turns into something completely different. Inside is this weird oasis of a theater that looks like they didn't spare any expense once you're past the front door. The staff are friendly, and the vibe feels more like a boutique cinema than what the outside suggests. The thing that sets this place apart for me is their specialty auditoriums. I went to see a movie in their 4D theater one night, and it was a whole different level of experience. The seats move with the action, you get blasted with air and mist during scenes, 3-D glasses enhance the effect, and little vibrators under your feet make explosions feel real. After that, I don't think I'll ever watch a straight action movie anywhere else. That's just one of the unique theaters they have. They've got several themed and kid-friendly auditoriums, including one with a built-in playground for families. It's clear they put real thought into giving different audiences something special. If you're judging this theater by its exterior, you'll miss out. Go inside, try one of the immersive auditoriums, and you'll see why I keep coming back.

I am updating my review of AMC Westroads to be 5 stars now…read more While they don't have as many snacks or treats as the Council Bluffs location, they actually take care of their theaters a little bit better. The IMAX at the Council Bluffs AMC is in bad shape, and they actually just shut it down to refurbish it recently, so I'm confused. There are lines running through the screen there at the CB AMC IMAX so it's very distracting. The AMC Westroads IMAX screen is perfect and very clear, in both visuals and audio. They're great for those little movies that come out (not the big ones we want to see in Dolby, Alamo features, etc.). The lobby and theater are usually pretty clean, and it's not super busy most times we've come, which is not the case at many other theaters. They don't have the comfy recliner seats that a lot of other theaters now have, but I can sit for two hours without needing to lay down for the movie LOL So while this theater is good for smaller movies that don't need to be seen in Dolby, they have now entered the IMAX game too as the superior contender vs. the larger IMAX at AMC Council Bluffs!

Parking is plentiful and it's easy to find. Plenty of movies to view on big screens, seated comfortably. Even the lower seats have a good view. This place has changed a lot since it used to be 20 grand, but it's a pretty typical movie theater experience. The main difference was the seating. There's a leather-like covering over all the chairs in the theater, and they recline. This makes for a much more comfortable viewing experience. I haven't been to a lot of movies in the last several years, so maybe this is standard now, but it was a nice change. The only negative was that we had to switch seats three times. The first time we sat down my husband and I noticed that the armrest between us was broken. Not just a little loose, but like it was barely hanging on with a thread. So we picked another pair of seats, but before we sat down, we noticed that they both looked really sticky, like someone had wiped some sticky candy residue on them or something. Finally, we picked another pair of seats that were clean, but one of the recliners was really jerky and didn't work very well. Eventually, we found some seats that were clean and were in good working order, and were able to enjoy the movie. The restroom wasn't dirty, but it definitely has a lot of wear and tear. I guess I would say that about the whole facility... It could use some updating and TLC. Everything just seems dated and very well used.
