Simply put, a fantastic addition to the neighborhood and city as a whole. I know some people miss the Old Dundee Bar & Grill. And Dugger's Cafe. But in due time I hope no one has any hard feelings. Renovating this once Vaudevillian theater is way better than what had been going on for years--a great decay. (Side note: I once interviewed the former owner of the theater and he said Harry Houdini even performed here like 100 years ago. Cool.) Now the space is modern and set up to promote film as an art form for decades to come. The theater has been updated, complete with new seats and projector. There's even a smaller theater that sits maybe 20 people, showing all sorts of great films. And in the middle of it all is the fantastic Kitchen Table Central space, which is warm and inviting and would be a great place to gather with some friends, work on the laptop or enjoy a bite before/after a film. This is a major score for Omahans. Hope you get there soon and enjoy some movies!

    Waiting for Payne.

The remodel is great. The entrance is no longer on Dodge. Much, much larger. The tiny snack bar is now a cool restaurant. The windows on the south side are a great touch. I think Susie Buffett, Dick and Mary Holland, Alexander Payne et al. got their money's worth. Kudos to the architect. At this location, it appears that they will screen popular movies and not just limit their features to indies. I also like the special events. A great addition to Omaha.

Gorgeous new version of the classic Dundee Theater. First class remodelling job is soon to be the Crown Jewel of independent film in Omaha.

Showing tickets at concessions was a little confusing, I was used to the ticket office. We did ScreenPlay for the kids could play 30 minutes before and after Mario 3. Super fun! The standard theater has reclining seats that you can choose to turn heat on. These are fairly narrow seats and it is easy to bump the heater button. The luxury seating is a very large chaise lounge that you can recline or turn on the heat. These seats are very roomy. There is a place eater that has a jungle gym attached to the theater. The jungle gym is open for kids to use for a time before and after the movie. And they offer a 4dx experience where the seats move while you were watching the movie. I really enjoy the experience of watching movies at the theater however it seems like each time I'm there, more things are broken or in disrepair. I used two bathrooms at the theater last time I was there and each one had two or more stalls out of order. The theater does not seem to be well attended so I have wondered if they are not putting money into fixing things because of that.

What's frustrating about this theater is that there isn't a separate line to simply scan your ticket, despite their being booths available when you walk in. This means that people who've already bought their tickets have to wait in the same line as people getting snacks or purchasing tickets, which just bogs down the process for everyone involved. I recently went to see The Odyssey in IMAX opening night and the theater tried something new, which was arguably just as bad. Instead of having everyone wait in the same line for snacks and popcorn staff told us to stand in a separate line for a single booth to scan our tickets. The line did not move until about 10 minutes before the movie was set to start, maybe even less. When was the process started it did move at a good pace, but by then the line was literally out of the building. Why this theater has chosen to abandon already their built ticket booths that were being used as little as two years ago in favor of these slower, less customer friendly models I do not know. These line/ ticket taking models have led me to attend movie theaters that are farther away, some with less desirable food and drink selections. Scanning an already purchased ticket should be the last thing someone worries about when attending a movie, but this theater has made that possible Due to these reasons I only attend this theater when I wish to see a movie in IMAX, despite the friendly staff and good snack options.

I am updating my review of AMC Westroads to be 5 stars now…read more While they don't have as many snacks or treats as the Council Bluffs location, they actually take care of their theaters a little bit better. The IMAX at the Council Bluffs AMC is in bad shape, and they actually just shut it down to refurbish it recently, so I'm confused. There are lines running through the screen there at the CB AMC IMAX so it's very distracting. The AMC Westroads IMAX screen is perfect and very clear, in both visuals and audio. They're great for those little movies that come out (not the big ones we want to see in Dolby, Alamo features, etc.). The lobby and theater are usually pretty clean, and it's not super busy most times we've come, which is not the case at many other theaters. They don't have the comfy recliner seats that a lot of other theaters now have, but I can sit for two hours without needing to lay down for the movie LOL So while this theater is good for smaller movies that don't need to be seen in Dolby, they have now entered the IMAX game too as the superior contender vs. the larger IMAX at AMC Council Bluffs!

Parking is plentiful and it's easy to find. Plenty of movies to view on big screens, seated comfortably. Even the lower seats have a good view. This place has changed a lot since it used to be 20 grand, but it's a pretty typical movie theater experience. The main difference was the seating. There's a leather-like covering over all the chairs in the theater, and they recline. This makes for a much more comfortable viewing experience. I haven't been to a lot of movies in the last several years, so maybe this is standard now, but it was a nice change. The only negative was that we had to switch seats three times. The first time we sat down my husband and I noticed that the armrest between us was broken. Not just a little loose, but like it was barely hanging on with a thread. So we picked another pair of seats, but before we sat down, we noticed that they both looked really sticky, like someone had wiped some sticky candy residue on them or something. Finally, we picked another pair of seats that were clean, but one of the recliners was really jerky and didn't work very well. Eventually, we found some seats that were clean and were in good working order, and were able to enjoy the movie. The restroom wasn't dirty, but it definitely has a lot of wear and tear. I guess I would say that about the whole facility... It could use some updating and TLC. Everything just seems dated and very well used.
