I had one of the most unprofessional salon experiences I've ever encountered. I arrived for my appointment and sat in the lobby for 10-15 minutes with no one at the front desk to check me in. Not a greeting, not an acknowledgment--nothing. Eventually, I had to walk into the salon myself and ask if anyone could assist me. At that point, I was told that I had arrived 10 minutes late and that my appointment would not be honored. This is simply false. I was physically present in the space the entire time. Instead of taking responsibility for the lack of front-desk staff or checking their own system, they chose to deny reality and blame the client. When I asked to speak directly with the stylist assigned to my appointment, I was told she was already with another client. That raises an obvious question: how did another client get slotted into my time when I was already there waiting? This was clearly an internal scheduling mistake, but rather than owning it, the staff doubled down, lied, and refused to help. I booked this appointment two months in advance, planned my day around it, and it was especially important as it was right before my birthday. Instead, I was dismissed, spoken to condescendingly, and left without any service or accountability. Mistakes happen. What's unacceptable is gaslighting a customer, refusing responsibility, and hiding behind excuses instead of offering a solution or even a basic apology. I booked my hair color appointment two months in advance for 10:00 AM and planned my entire day around it. Unfortunately, due to a traffic accident on my way, I arrived about 10 minutes late. When I entered the salon, I stood at the front desk for about 8 minutes, but no one was there to check me in. Eventually, I had to walk inside and ask one of the staff members for help and let them know that I had an appointment with Ivy. After that, someone came to the front desk, did not introduce herself, and immediately spoke to me in a rude and dismissive manner. She told me that my appointment was canceled because I was "20 minutes late," which was not true. I explained that I was only about 10 minutes late, but she insisted that I was 20 minutes late and spoke to me in a very disrespectful way. She also refused to acknowledge that no one had been at the front desk to check me in, even though I had been waiting there. I completely understand that salons need to stay on schedule and respect other clients' time. However, professionalism also means handling unexpected situations with fairness, empathy, and good communication. My hair color appointment takes at least four hours, and canceling it over a 10-15 minute delay--after I had waited two months and planned carefully--is unreasonable and extremely disappointing. What made this experience even worse was that no one made any effort to help, adjust the schedule, or find a solution. There was no attempt to manage the situation properly or communicate honestly with other clients. Instead, I was made to feel that my time and commitment meant nothing. Drove exact 8 mins from my home n found them so conveniently located. I have been to this area many tImes to watch a movie at cineplex or for playing at zone bowling. Now another reason got me here. Very neat and spacious hair saloon that simply look small from outside. It has huge space behind the front wall of dressers. A full wall of hair products, almost 15 hair stylist chairs, hair steaming lounge chairs, clean washrooms and well done decor. Stylists and everyone else was happy n welcoming. They do offer u ur choice of drink( only non alcoholic). Wifi password can be asked. My hair stylist took her time to walk me through the pictures of hair cuts i was anticipating and finally gave me a good new look. Not only me but she was equally happy with the end results. Sam told me how good she is and how in demand she is, then made a mistake on my cut, inconsistent on one side vs the other. When I phoned to make an appointment for her fix it, they told me she didn't have the time until the next week. So I just went somewhere else, walked in, and the stylist fixed it for free. Let me start off with, I came here before in 2017 for a haircut and it was not anything close to what I wanted. Jumping forward to 2019, I decided to give this spot a second chance since it's on my way home from work and it seems like the owners have changed hands. I have been looking for a place to get my regular haircut for a while now. It's been tough with so many different salons that sometimes you need to just jump into one and hope for the best. Fortunately for me, I have now found my regular spot. Amy, the barber at Filomena was SUPER nice and professional. She made me feel welcomed and comfortable and she even offered me coffee and cookies, which I have never seen before at a salon. The whole salon was very clean and nicely set up. I have had my hair bleached out / coloured / cut / updo / wedding styling by Jenna for 7 years at Filomena. Although I live half an hour away, I have not considered changing stylists. In addition to the hairstyling being exactly what I want, I have never once started an appointment late which is extremely rare for this industry. I come in being prepared to wait 5-15 minutes, and this has yet to happen. Jenna is extremely professional and organized when dealing with her appointments, even though she is very busy (about a two month wait list). I have also found Jenna to be very honest when it comes to requests I've had - she will let me know if she doesn't think the style I'm after will suit my aesthetic desire, my budget or maintenance levels. The salon itself is clean, spacious and comfortable with an abundance of free parking. I have also seen the manager, Shawna, while Jenna was on mat leave. Great service all around. My only critique would be that cell phone reception in the salon is extremely poor, but that's a minor issue as it's a positive thing to be forced to put the phone down. :) read more

I come to Filomena for their Brazilian wax because it's one of the best wax (for "down there") I've gotten so far -and I've been to some pretty good ones in downtown. The owner of the salon is very fast and efficient, she knows what she's doing and gets straight down to business. It's normally over before I know it, with only minimal pain, which you must expect ladies if you're going to brazil. The salon is also clean and nicely decorated, it always feels airy in there which makes me feel more comfortable. Overall, I would highly recommend giving it a try! They sell unite hair products which have quickly become my favourite hair care product.
