I see Parisa routinely for hair deep conditioning, blowout and style. She does a really nice beach wave that I can not seem to achieve when trying to style at home myself. The salon is very beautifully designed and they use the Aveda products which I have always loved. I purchased a couple products that I use which is the hair wax and the medium hold hairspray that holds curls but doesn't make your hair crispy which is nice. I have curly hair that tends to go a little frizzy yet flat at the same time, Parisa uses this Volumizing spray at the roots which gives my hair lots of body, managing to add body to my hair and remove frizz at the same time is not an easy task. read more

I will just tell my experience with van cut. First time I went to van cut the owner Mandy did my hair and she was nice at first, but I didn't like my hair style it was not professional and she was very slow. Again I want to try and give them a chance and new stylist did my hair I don't remember her name she was ok. One thing really upsetting me (Mandy the owner) over charged me and I didn't mind the price but the way she was talking to me very rude and not polite. She charged me 10 dollars more than the original price and she was laughing and saying it is only 10 dollars not 100 dollars!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT ATTITUDE MANDY OWNER HAS IT WAS INSULTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will never go to this salon ever again, since prices are racially based, as according to them, as it's the reason it took half of their day, as it took mines to do it. I will start with what shocked me the most: THE OWNER MANDY TEXTING ME A DRUNK, EMOTIONAL, EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL MESSAGE AT SATURDAY 1:30 IN THE MORNING!!! Wow!! Why? Because I asked for discount after she burned and completely demanded my hair!! - I was at the salon 11 hours - in her first attempt she made my hair purple and needed to recolour it - she constantly talked Persian ( seeing 3 nervous ladies talking Persian after messaging up the colour is so unprofessional) -my hair ended up being cut way to short, it was burned and damaged but she insisted I should be happy because she made it blonde - I needed to fight for discount - after few days I called her for advice what to do because I couldn't do anything with my hair due to the damage and she hanged up on me! - and then at 1:30 in the morning I got the massage how I ruined her day, how she wish that bad things happens to me and my family, how she KNOWS that I am happy but I want to take her money... I've been going to Mandy to get my hair cut for at least 2 years now. I don't get fancy stuff done. I look for a good clean cut that will grow out well and make it easy for me keep up. That's what I have. She also suggested threading my brows one day. Yeah now it's part of every visit. I don't want a cheap cut that looks good for one day, Vancuts is worth every penny. I am still in shock I thought this salon was a great place until they kept charging me more money each time and making me feel terrible for asking why the price kept going up and up! So after my last visit I was sitting in bed and at 11pm at night and Mandy the owner texted me with a very long Long angry text telling me all about her expenses and lashing out on me! Also she was mentioning that she didn't really want customers like me .....I was simply shocked that after how nice and polite I always am and I even called her during covid 19 to ask about her well being, she would be so unprofessional to do this. The entire time I sat in the chair she made comments how some people tip her really big because they care about her business as if my 15 percent tip usually is not good enough and she also did not like it how I wanted a consistent price and said I always want discounts which is not true at all. "I just want a fair price and I also have 3 kids and expenses too". She told me I should be paying 400$-600$ for half head of foils. Anyway I have never reviewed anything before but I had to this time;( I'm completely shocked and feel terrible after my experience at vancut and I just want to warn people before they go. It's the first time I have went there. When I walked in there were only 2 people working there so I wasn't expecting much. I had to wait for 45 minutes but that was okay, I just shopped around at Coquitlam Center. I got my hair cut by Mandy, she was quick and the results were great. Definitely worth the price. read more

The absolute worst salon experience in 30 years. Mandy absolutely destroyed my hair. I had book for half head of foils and trim. She convinced me to do full head. We decided to keep the blonde on my ends and lighten my roots to match. No toner, only purple shampoo she told me. She was interrupted applying the bleach by a client's unhappy husband, and after yelling at each other for 10 minutes on the street, she refunded their money and then came back to slap bleach onto my hair, hands shaking, not speaking. She then left me to cut a man's hair then take a break. When she finally re-emerged and asked her asst. to check the progress of my foils. Based on their faces I knew something was wrong. When I asked why they were wiping the bleach off my roots and then applying new bleach to my ends I was told this was her "technique" for doing blonde - even though she previously carefully applied conditioner to avoid my ends. When I eventually saw the colour difference I realized that not only had they left an inch of dark root, but the top third of my hair was so bleached it didn't match any of my ends. They then rushed me to the sink where they washed the bottom half of bleach off, and while head dripping tried to blow dry and heat the top to process it faster. Needless to say when she washed it all out, my ends were gummy, fried and completely over processed and destroyed. I now have an inch of dark roots and fried length. She told me I need toner, which she later admitted would either turn my hair green or orange. I left with sopping wet hair, no longer able to listen to her lies. She even made me pay...which I terribly regret now but in the moment I didn't know what to do. I am sorry, if I screw up a job that badly I would never make a customer pay. She lies and is genuinely a horrible person. Had she admitted to any of her mistakes it might have been better but to argue and lie is a horrible way to treat your customers. read more

Bad haircut. Looks nothing like the picture I provided; I look 30 years older. Expensive. Not coming again.

I've been going to the same hairdresser for 15 years so I was quite hesitant to try something new. But I'm so happy I did! I am half Jamaican so my hair is very 'nappy', I always have it relaxed & wear extensions. I took my weave out and decided it was time for a cut. Sama did a fabulous job! So much so that I took Many's (owner) advice and went back for another treatment called New Plastic. It is an organic straightening & smoothing treatment similar to a Keratin treatment (which neither I had had before) The results were absolutely amazing! My hair had never looked so healthy & shiny!! The reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is that the results of this treatment didn't last even 24hours. It's advertised to last 3-5months. Yes my hair was smoother but never shiny & healthy looking as it was the first day. This treatment was $300 ($250 with the special they were offering) so I was disappointed to say the least. With that said I would go back and try it again. I'm very interested in finding a natural alternative to relaxing my hair. They were very honest from the beginning with their lack of experience with Afro hair & this treatment. So I guess the risk was mine to take. But after doing some research I can see possible reasons for the treatment not taking the way it should have. Some in my control and some in theirs. Overall my experience was exceptional. They are very friendly and welcoming. You truly feel relaxed and taken care of. Mandy's attention to detail is at the highest standard. I wrote a review a while back and deleted it, as I felt pressured to do so by the salon. But I believe I may have done others a disservice by removing it. I will not go into too much depth, but I had a very disappointing colour experience at this salon about a year ago. I cannot speak about the quality of their cuts, but please be cautious of getting colour treatment done here. It has taken a FULL year for my hair to even somewhat recover from the damage they caused it. I naturally have strong and thick hair, but after my colouring experience at this salon, it remains thin and brittle. I experienced severe hair fallout and it took about 8 months for my hair to show any sign of growth as it would just break off at the ends. It was the first time in my life I was self-conscious about my hair. I have been treating it for a year now and it is slightly better, but still nowhere close to how it used to be. If I try to get a colour treatment at this point, all my hair will fall out. They did offer to do a free repair treatment when they saw my last review. I did not take them up on this offer, as I refuse to trust them with my hair again. I am posting a review again in hopes that this mistake is not repeated. I came to this hair salon to do a Japanese Hair Straightening. My hair is naturally curly, and I have been straightening my hair every year since I was 10 years old. This is the first hair salon that I've been to that has done such a horrible job. During my straightening session, I told them to use chemicals with extra strength because my hair is so curly. They agreed and did it. After waiting 48 hours and washing my hair, my hair turned out extremely curly (as if no straightening was ever done). I have never had this type of experience before. Usually, my hair my stay be slightly curly. But this is the first hair straightening that was a fail. In the past, if my hair was slightly still curly, the hair salon would do a free touch up afterwards to make sure my hair was still straight (and they were the ones that offered it). But when I called the owner of the hair salon and went over to meet her about my ahir, she was extremely unprofessional. She said it was my hair's problem, and that I was "abusing the hair salon" for asking for a touchup. I would not recommend this hair salon to anyone, as it is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to. read more
