The two stars are for the drinks. Although, considering they were followed up by a head ache and I'm starting to wonder... So, we made the visit for a girls night but there was nothing nostalgic about the experience. The place was majority empty. We assumed it was because we arrived early, 7:30ish closer to 8. However my experience leads me to think differently. Upon entry we were greeted and seated. The menus were already laid on the table waiting for us. So, needless to say there was little to nothing for the host to greet you with or for; table presentation was NOT there. No cups napkins, condiments, eating utensils nothing! We got into the menus -ordered Soul Rolls, a Crab Cake, and 2-orders of wings for appetizers. The soul rolls were overcooked, the yams none existent, and the Macaroni was dry. The crab crake had a fishy taste to it and 1 order of wings was undercooked (per order request) the other was good. When we asked for the wings to be re-made they just throw the wings back in the grease and re-served them. Our MEALS: 2- Rasta Pastas, the yard man snapper, and the jalapeño burger. We had to ask for eating utensils 2x's and after about and 5 more minutes we got them. The Fish was okay but for what it cost (w/ gratuity) and tasted like -wasted money!!! The Rasta pasta was only Alfredo no peppers, cajun season or onions. I guess the burger was decent. We all ordered drinks - lemon drop flight, 4-24 k gold drinks, white wine sangria, and another lemon drop. The drink were meh - the lemon drop flight came w/ ice. My friend wanted a second sangria but couldn't order b/c they ran out of wine and I got a head ache after I drank the two 24ks. Then it came down to paying! Now I thought I was doing good on my balance but I got swindled. First off she had me pay my tab BEFORE she showed me my itemized receipt which include an auto 18% gratuity for 4 people (not worthy) service was SLOW and bad! Not to mention they charged a $2 difference on my drinks. The menu had $16 but I was charged $18 for both. Make them show your receipt ahead of payment. B/c we tipped on top of the gratuity that was included in our bill but weren't informed the tip was already included. The interior was nice, I liked the booth seating and decor. I really liked the fireplace setting. It gave a warm cozy feel. The music was a slight vibe once the drinks kicked in that's it. While visiting Stone Mountain on Friday, September 5, 2025, my best friend and I decided to try Nostalgia Kitchen since it was close to our hotel. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We were served by the bartender, who was clearly distracted trying to juggle bar duties and DoorDash orders. Our small two-top table quickly filled up, and items weren't cleared in a timely way, I even dropped silverware multiple times because there was no room. When I tried moving a few items to a nearby empty table to make space, the bartender came over to tell me not to do that since it had already been cleaned. When the check came, an automatic $25 gratuity had been added even though we were only a party of two. I asked for it to be removed because tips should be based on the service received, not automatic unless you're a party of six or more. Instead of handling this gracefully, the bartender got defensive and had an attitude. She did re-ring the bill without the automatic gratuity, but the interaction was unnecessarily unpleasant. Out of courtesy, I still paid the $135 bill and left a $17 cash tip. To her credit, the other server (not our bartender) apologized for the poor service, which I appreciated. The worst part came later, when I checked my bank account, I saw I had been charged twice: once for the canceled check and again for the corrected one. Now I have to dispute the charge with my bank. Warning to out-of-town guests: please double-check your bank statements if you dine here. Nostalgia Kitchen has a Happy Hour! Happy Hour specials include food, drinks, and hookah. There's free parking and it's nicely decorated. We enjoyed great service and ambiance with the R&B playlist. For appetizers, the soul food egg rolls were a hit! We also tried the fish tacos, which surprisingly had barbecue sauce on them. The fish tacos were okay, just not exactly what we thought they would be. For entrees, the lamb chops were pretty good; they had a chargrilled, smokiness taste; they were cooked well-done though I requested medium-well, so keep that in mind. The snapper was good. Be careful entering the parking lot. Entrance is on busy Memorial drive. Ample parking space in there lot. The lot can use some care, but once you enter the ambiance and decor is spectacular. Modern decor. Lounge seating, private seating areas, full bar, stage for Dj and live performance, hookah station. I didn't get to explore the entire lounge. But what I saw was spectacular. Bartender was awesome, not pushy but helpful. Food is as described. Only thing is they need to update their prices. I was charged more than what was on the menu. I met up with a new friend at Nostalgia for happy hour two weeks ago, and it was pretty cool. First, I did pass the parking lot initially because it wasn't well lit and the sign wasn't visible from the street. Once, I got into the parking lot I just couldn't get it together with the parking (which I'm still not sure if it was a me problem or a lot problem). However, once I got inside, it was cool. The decor was very breezy and beautiful. One of the employees told my friend that they were having a private event so we only had an hour to eat. So I would definitely say check out their Instagram before you go. Nostalgia definitely has an amazing happy hour menu with select items ranging from $6-$10. I ordered the soul rolls and the mango habanero wings and a lemon drop. The lemon drop was not good at all. It was lemony but no (sugar) drop. Instead of asking for simple syrup, I was able to replace the drink with a rum punch. This came out much better. The food was very good! The wings were crispy, the sauce wasn't too hot and the blue cheese dressing paired well with the wings. The soul rolls were good and I must say that no ingredient in the roll was overpowering. I love crab cake so I asked to try. It was so disgusting I gagged and spit it out. Now for entrees -- my cousin and I ordered Rasta pasta. I got mine with chicken, she got hers with shrimp. This "Rasta Pasta" didn't have any bell peppers or onions in it? It was just Alfredo that was heavily peppered with a dash of jerk sauce I presume. The chicken in my pasta was flavorless and overcooked. My other two friends ordered the snapper... DRY & the bacon cheeseburger. It was really a jalapeño burger but she took all the hot stuff off. Why was the bacon on the burger bacon bits? I am so serious. The worst part is... my meal and drinks were like $75. With all the fees it was like $106... the waitress didn't bring the itemized bill out until I had already tipped her $23 cash. The food was fresh, flavorful, and the vibe was on point. I was so impressed, I recommended it to friends and returned the next night with a group of six, expecting the same quality. Unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. We ordered drinks and appetizers, but they didn't arrive until the last person at the table received their entrée which makes no sense. The food itself was very underwhelming this time. We ordered 3 orders of lamb chops they were ok... ...*Jerk chicken taco meat & salmon slider - extremely dry and overcooked!, and some of the chicken was way to crispy to eat *Turkey wings dry, tough, flavorless and clearly needed more time to cook down in gravy To make matters worse, no one communicated that they had run out of sauce for the turkey wings. It was just served as a dry plate, and when I asked, I was told they ran out of gravy last minute. That should have been communicated upfront. The dish was not edible I had to send it back and try to order some things else after already waiting a long time for it. It took over 1hr plus for me to eat smh ! Despite being a party of six, no manager came out to check in or address our concerns after we asked . That was very disappointing, especially considering the circumstances. On top of everything, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to all checks regardless of service quality. Our waitress did her best and was pleasant, so this isn't about her. But overall, the experience was unacceptable. The inconsistency, lack of communication, and poor food quality made this visit very disappointing. The Interior decorum is beautiful, modern, clean and spacious. Our party of ten arrived for dinner on a Friday evening. Really happy to find this gem in my neighborhood. I have to start with the customer service because it was 5 star! Bri is a fantastic server and made sure my group had a great time. She was attentive with a sweet, fun personality that added to our experience. The drinks and menu items are pretty standard for a lounge. We had a few hiccups because there were a few call outs and it's still fairly new but when I tell you J made up for that!!! Let's talk about this food. Please consider security and better lighting on the exterior of your space per the incident that happened when I was there back early this year in the parking lot. Every business that has been in the spot doesn't last because of the area and crime. Make these adjustments and you will sustain. I've spoken up about not adding so much syrup/ sour mix twice and the drinks are still terrible. My rum punch taste like watered down juice, Long Island tastes like a margarita, tom Collin's tasted like lemon and sprite. I'm so disappointed as I know it's new management... and this is what they have to offer. No DJ the music was being played from a phone or tablet. It has potential but as of right now it's a no. Why when we showed up they had no record of our reservation. Absolutely ridiculous! We had a reservation for 8:30 and didn't get seated until after 9. Service was EXTREMELY slow and no sign of a manager when my cousin asked to speak to one upon arrival. Imagine how embarrassing it is for it to be your birthday and they mess up so bad. She got her meal late as hell and a half of a table of people that still haven't gotten anything. I used to like yall but it's nothing worse than recommending an establishment and they making you look bad. Not one apology was immediately issued and usually when they mess up or it's someone's birthday they give complimentary shots but NOPE!
