The food was excellent. Beautiful presentation and it came to the table hot. I would definitely visit Fin again.

My husband and I went to this restaurant as we are down at the beach to celebrate our babymoon....100% amazing option! The great part about this restaurant is they have so many thoroughly cooked seafood options, so no worries with my pregnancy! My husband and I both did the Fin 5 course meal and honestly, each plate was better than the last. It consists of a blue crab salad, crab cake, seared scallops, wagyu beef, and a nice dessert for $85/person. Karen, our server, was absolutely delightful and made sure to note thoroughly cooked food and was very attentive to our drink refills and finished plates. The spacing between each dish was perfectly spaced and you leave with a full and happy stomach! Definitely recommend this spot when you are down at VA beach! Quality: 5/5 Customer service: 5/5 Value for cost: 4.5/5

Amazing! Beautiful space with such friendly people and fantastic food. The flounder was great and the grilled salad was incredible and very unique. Great dessert options also. This restaurant has it all.

Had a fantastic dining expereince last night. The cocktails, food, and service were perfect!! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal in a beautiful atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit!

I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It was nice and quiet. Everyone was so kind. Our waiter was great. Very attentive. I had gotten the firecracker shrimp, wagyu tenderloin, and my husband got a wagyu as well.. I just want to note that their sweet potatos were SO good, but don't feel it's a good side with steak. It made our steak sweet and it was a taste we were interested in...however it was still delicious. Will come again.

If I could give 10 stars to this venue I would. I was looking for a nice anniveraary worthy eatery and Fin was recommended by a friend. I easily made online reservations. Our table was ready when we arrived and was sprinkled with rose petals in honor of our occasion. I signed up online for the 5 course taste without the wine pairings. Our server Brittany was so knowledgeable and attentive as appropriate. She told us about each flavor combination and easily answered my questions. My unsweet tea was freshly brewed. Our 5 courses included an unbelievable blue crab claw slaw, one of the best flavor pairings I have ever tasted. Then came the all meat no filler broiled crab cake, then light as air scallops with risotto, and then a tender steak that melted in your mouth. This could have used a tablespoon more mash but took nothing away from it. The final course was a light flourless chocolate cake with a raspberry puree and lavender homemade icecream. Each portion was perfection, just the right amount with a short wait between courses to digest and savor. The vibe is modern but intimate. The bar is in a separate room. The dining room has a few booths, some 4 tops and a larger group table for maybe 6. Everyone seemed very content with their food and drink choices, the conversation was lively but not distracting. I thanked the chefs working in the open kitchen area and they were so humble. They have to know they are at the top of their game with the food offerings. When the bill came it was, as I knew in advance, was $85 per person, and with tea and tax came to about $275. My server told me 20% gratuity was included. I had cash ready so slipped her another $40. I don't know what percent tip I ended up giving but Brittany is that good. The menu has so many enticing offerings that if you are someone who enjoys a truly delightful gastronomic experience you just have to check out Fin. Worth every penny.

My tastebuds are doing a happy dance. If you are a foodie, you really need to come here. I highly recommend the 7 course tasting with or without the wine pairing. We were seated right away in a booth. It was early and I am glad because when we left it was getting busy!! Highly recommend reservations. A few items on the tasting menu were the Blue Crab Claw Salad, Jumbo Shrimp and Grits, Scallops and a Wagyu Steak. I loved everything but definitely my favorites were the Scallops, the steak and Shrimp and Grits. I walked out very full and satisfied. The Wagyu steak was no knife necessary and melt in your mouth delicious. Best steak I have ever had. Nothing was overcooked and everything was balanced and flavorful. I didn't love the Corn and Black Bean Salsa with the Octopus. I felt like it didn't pair well.....The salsa was too simple for the Octopus. Corey took excellent care of us. I absolutely loved all the different silverware with each course. The attention to detail was amazing....from both the kitchen and Corey. This is definitely a special meal for me and I enjoyed every bite and left nothing behind. A great experience for a foodie. Go. Check it out. Make reservations.

I love revisiting a fine dining restaurant that I love, and it only gets better with time! I dined at Fin last night for Restaurant Week. It was not a disappointment! I started off with a cocktail: Triple-Berry Lemon Drop. Very tasty! Not overpowering either vodka and lots of berry flavor. For Restaurant Week, it includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert. My app was She Crab Soup. The broth was so creamy and filling. It was also full of lump crab cake which was amazing. My entree was Scallops and I added on a crab cake for $9! No regrets! The scallops were cooked perfectly over a seasoned bed of rice. The crab cake was perfect. The amount of filler was not overbearing and it was broiled just right. For dessert: I had chocolate cake with mint ice cream. The cake was SO rich in flavor I had to take some home. But it paired perfectly with the subtle mint ice cream. My friend also enjoyed their firecracker shrimp (too spicy for me) and beef tenderloin (prepared medium rare). 5 STARS! Service was great. Gratuity was included, but it was well earned. The food was stellar! I'm so glad that Fin is still a staple in Newport News for fine dining.

Fin Seafood on William Tyron Square, Newport News, VA, was the restaurant chosen to hold the Celebration of Life for my brother-in-law who passed away suddenly last month. We arranged to use their back dining room for his family, friends and colleagues, who spoke eloquently from the heart about how much Bill meant to each of them as husband, father, step father, friend, university colleague, mentor and neighbor. Fin's small catering was flawless. We didn't need much for the two hour fete. A few bottles of good wine and an open bar; fresh crab cake sliders without filler, shrimp in spicy mayo on a spoon, and a wooden tray with assortment of charcuterie. All perfectly prepared as soft background complements to our solemn occasion. We will no doubt return to Fin Seafood on a more joyous occasion when we can relax and laugh over more mellow remembrances of life. Still, we will always appreciate how they handled this most meaningful day for us.

We had an excellent date night on a Saturday evening. We didn't have a reservation so we sat in the high top bar tables. Our server was excellent, she checked in often and was knowledgeable about the menus. Good drink menu with craft cocktails, beer and wine. I enjoyed the strawberry lemon drop. My fiancé had the churro old fashion (made with tequila) and the milk punch. He loved both. We enjoyed the tuna tartare for an appetizer. It's unique with the siracha ice cream. I'm not a huge seafood person but it was flavorful. For dinner, I had beef tenderloin. It was the absolute best! My fiancé had salmon. We were very full from the big portions so we did not have dessert.

Was told this was an upscale restaurant, not sure I'd agree, but they are trying to be. Good drink prices, my Martini was standard and hit the spot. Loved the she crab soup, I got the large which wasn't too big. Lots of crab chunks. Got the crab cake with a side of scallops. The crab cake was not the best I've had, but did look amazing. Kinda want to say it lacked flavor? Overall an expensive bill for what I felt like regular food.

A great little seafood spot - quality food served at affordable prices. I had lunch here and opted for the tasting menu. Staff was busy but kind and attentive when available. Food was flavorful and filling. I would definitely revisit this establishment.

Not sure how to describe the vibe- clean modern feel with a touch of cozy here and there - like the sofa when u first walk in. Pros: Cool sofa for waiting on a table or maybe cocktails? Krista was our server and she was delightful. Friendly and helpful - let us know her favorites and got our order in quickly since we couldn't take too long. Nice cocktail selection and even better range for apps and mains. Loved the ahi tuna flatbread!! Our favorite of the apps. Could have ordered for dinner and left very happy since it cost less too lol. Seared scallops were delicious- the sauce and fresh corn were amazing. Shrimp and grits had an impressive depth of flavor and the spinach and tomatoes were a unique addition. The black bass was also very good. Cons Prices on the higher side even for a fancy restaurant in Richmond. Didn't love the complimentary bread and butter: I appreciated trying to make the butter something unique- going for savory and sweet the white chocolate and herbs but the white chocolate didn't really work for us as an ingredient. Felt like the bread should've been crusty for butter like this and not the soft rolls they served. Didn't care for the pork belly appetizer. Instead of being crispy, it was just tough.

If they had they would have heard about missing beer menus, dirty/greasy salt grinders, dead flies littering the window sills next to the tables, slow and disinterested service and a seeming lack of interest of the staff in anything but chatting with each other. County Grill in Yorktown has always been one of our go-to restaurants but unfortunately is fell very short today. We got in early, before the afternoon rush, around 3:45 pm. We were seated quickly in a booth along the front windows and our waitress came over and got us started with cornbread muffins and took our drink order. I did ask for the paper beer list that they always have due to their extensive taps but none were available, a first for me. Neither our waitress or the hostess could explain why they didn't have the normal beer list. I ordered a beer and when asked if I also wanted water like my wife, I said yes. My wife's water showed up almost immediately, mine must have been forgotten but thankfully my beer showed up a short time later. We ordered our dinner, a brisket platter with coleslaw and baked beans and my wife ordered pulled pork. We were one of only two tables in the entire main dining room when we ordered and throughout our meal but waited a surprisingly long time for our food to arrive. When it did arrive, the food looked, smelled and tasted great. The brisket I received was from the tail end of the brisket and was very thin compared to slices from the other end of the brisket I've usually received. I still received the same exact number of smaller slices I usually receive from the bigger end. Not all brisket slices are created equal and today's fell short. My wife used the salt grinder on the table and it was dirty and greasy to the point she had to excuse herself to go wash her hands. While she was gone I noticed the collection of dead flies on the window sill along our booth. Things were just dirty, makes you wonder about cleanliness in areas you can't see as a customer. Although there were a lot of staff in the kitchen and in front of the kitchen none seemed interested in anything but chatting with each other. The exception to that would be our waitress who was very interested in talking to the one other occupied table in the dining room. We had finished dinner and were waiting to pay our bill and get a to-go box for some of the coleslaw. Our waitress was deeply involved in a conversation with the other table and we waited an extended period of time. The multitude of other servers in front of the kitchen had no interest in breaking free to see if we needed anything. Finally our waitress made it back over to our table with the electronic payment machine out, handed it off to me and headed off to find a to-go container, even that seemed to take longer than it should have. Maybe Q-Daddy's is worth a try, maybe they still care and want to prove they want your business and not just ride on prior reputation.

Situated right under the York River bridge, not far from the Yorktown museum, is the cutest village. I'm sorry, they can't claim it as part of the original Yorktown but it is cute. There is a lovely river walk...hence the name of the restaurant. They have some of the BEST views in the area being right there. We had reservations however it being the busiest day for restaurants, we had to chill our heels for a few moments before being taken back. I was more than ok with this as we ended up getting a window seat (see above for reference). Thank heavens they put the name of the server in the receipt cuz y'all know my Swiss cheese brain. Cara was the wonderful server who took care of us. She was always there ready for me to get my mum good & spoiled. Super friendly and very helpful. The buffet, it was impressive for a buffet and while not a big buffet, it was specialized. First up were 3 different kinds of salads, then a fruit platter, and bagels & cream cheese. They had a raw bar with shrimp & oysters next, then breakfast stuff (eggs, potatoes bacon etc) mac & cheese, garlic mashed taters & then a carving station with turkey, ham & lamb. Finally a small but respectful dessert table. If you couldn't find something to fill you, you weren't looking. The single sour note of the buffet was the salmon and Mac & cheese. I'll know better next time. Overall the River Walk has come back with perfect timing and style. I highly recommend a visit. Parking is a pain but patience will help

When I found out they were having a set menu for Vday I called the week of and we were able to switch our reservations to Friday February 13th. I downloaded the InKiND app as well and they gave me a $50 off discount if you spend minimum $150. The open table app did have a $20 per person fee for reservations and that will be applied to the final bill. Our reservations were at 4pm and we arrived early and the parking area is ample with a parking garage and some street parking. We started walking to the restaurant at about 355pm. This time of the year seems to slower with ot being cold. Once inside we were greeted by the young ladies up front. We were offered a table or booth and we chose a table. We did sit at a table with the view of the water which was nice. Jason our server came over within seconds to pour us water and take our drink orders. We both wanted sweet tea with lemon. Since we knew ahead of time what we were ordering, we gave our appetizers orderes first. We ordered the soup of the day which was the she crab soup. It is highly recommended. We only ordered a cup and not a bowl because we were unsure of how it tasted. The Caesar salad had no anchovie flavor like we are use to and was just medicore. We ordered the meatballs which had lamb and pork in it. They were juicy, tender and just needed a little more seasoning. The Calamari was fried to perfection for me and could've used a pinch of salt. The sweet tea was everything and I would recommend it. For the main entrees, we chose the shrimp and scallop risotto and the beef braised Ragau. There were two scallops and four grilled shrimp and few asparagus with some chopped up bacon. This dish I highly recommend as well. The beef was tender, seasoned and pasta was cooked perfect. Overall, this is a nice and quiet place to dine at anytime. I would recommend and will definitely return again. Jason was on point with his promptness.
