I don't write reviews on goods or services unless they are really bad or really good. And now The Rest of the Story.... I decided I wanted to go from a 30 yr fixed to a 15 yr fixed and pull some cash out. Having been a mortgage loan officer and California real estate licensee for 20 years, I know the business. And because of that I know that my situation with my finances, credit, stability, etc is what we used to refer to when I was in the business as a "slam dunk" deal. I decided to contact my current mortgage holder, Freedom Mortgage for this need because I had been with them for over 5 years. What a mistake that was! Long story short, Freedom Mortgage company was inept, unprofessional and non-communicative. After 3 months of playing with this company, I ended up e-mail blasting 15 top level executives to include the CEO to try to get some action. They still could not pull it together! A friend of mine told me his son had just had a great experience with Tina Burney at Premier Mortgage Resources so I called her. After talking with her, I decided to pull my application from Freedom and to reapply with Tina. I found her very professional, knowledgeable and fast! On May 6th she took my application. On May 8th she had an approval pending the title report. We signed our docs on May 22nd and the deal was funded, recorded and wire transfer in the bank was complete on May 28th. So what Freedom Mortgage couldn't get done in over 3 months, Tina Burney got done in 22 days start to finish! Bottom line is this. If you want your loan process to go smooth and fast, go to Tina. And no I do not get any kickbacks for this! She is just that good!

(Two other banks quoted us 60 days MINIMUM to process our refinance.) Benchmark quoted us a 30 day or less timeframe and they kept that promise. We were given comparison documents less than 24 hours after providing our personal information and what we were hoping to accomplish with the refinance. The staff was vary transparent and kept us updated along the way. Their customer portal was very easy to use and navigate through when uploading and signing documents, as well as seeing exactly when documents were reviewed and accepted. We called the office several times with questions and they were always cheerful and helpful. We were never put on hold, and they always returned calls quickly. Through the whole process, it felt like we were their only clients because of how much attention they dedicated to us. I was honesty amazed by the level of customer service. Between their "family" like feel, the quality of ethics, and detail of service, Benchmark has been the best company we have ever worked with in the industry. ICCU has had an outstanding reputation in the past. I have used them for my HELOC which I havent…read moreused. I just decided to use it on a purchase until rates comes down as there are little to no fees vs a mortgage on a second home. To get the amount of money I needed they charged me $640 for an appraisal of my home.... which is full price for a full appraisal (not just a drive by). While it did appraise more than enough to give me the amount of money I needed the Appraiser put the number at about my what my tax appraisal is which is significant lower than actual value (don't tell the county). The reason for the score is I expected a professional appraisal since I paid for it and I did not get that. ICCU refuses to do anything or take responsibility for the vendor they hired with my money. I refuse to conduct business with an institution that waist my money and time. Based on the other reviews I am reading it sounds like they have a number of opportunities to enhance their level of customer service. It is a shame.
