We are a very small, queer and BIPOC-owned company that relied on Jessica's team at Financial Groove to file our 2023 business and personal taxes. As of today, May 5th 2025, our filing is still incorrect and we are continuing to go back and forth with them. We are still in $3,000 in debt to the IRS, plus almost $1,000 in fines and penalties. We finally found the problem. Their team asked us to file an extension, which we did in March of 2023. It was radio silence from them for MONTHS until mid-November when they said we owed nearly $10,000 in additional taxes, and we needed to pay it in 24 hours. When they filed our taxes, they put the wrong bank account number in, so we had to drive to our bank and move money from one account the other. Then, we started getting letters from the IRS saying we owed even more money. Jessica, Dandan and Shawn could not figure out why this was. They just kept telling us to wait, it will all work out and apologized "for not really understanding California laws." Finally, after much back and forth, we found out that not only did Dandan list the wrong bank account, she listed the wrong social security number, as well. So our payment was never credited to our account. The IRS agent actually laughed at this and said "your tax preparer should know better. They should pay the fine for you." After being hung up twice by Laurie on their team, we still cannot resolve this issue. We finally heard back from Jessica who said she will not refund any of our money nor consider paying the fine. Our business has taken a HUGE hit from this company. We hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I wont use my real name as it took me quite a bit of money to get away from this firm. They were doing my taxes WRONG for four years & their fee went up $100.00 every year. The flamingo-hair office manager runs defense for the owner, her sister, and you cannot get her on the phone. The two times I went into the office, the owner was screaming @ her employees. I've never seen such disrespect in my life. She treats her staff like garbage and if you leave a negative review, she pays Yelp to have it removed. She's not a CPA or college educated. I wish I could take her to small claims court to recover the money she "stole" from me to prepare fraudulent tax returns. If anyone reading this wants help, file Form 14157 with the IRS & hopefully we can shut this business down. read more

I used Financial Groove to file my taxes this year. I really don't know what I am doing when it comes to taxes, but they made it super easy. The tax preparer, Jessica, was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Their staff was also friendly on the phone and explained everything to me before I agreed to using their services. Prices are reasonable especially considering the mess I had to work with. Jessica also gave me advice to help me throughout the year to be more prepared. This team doesn't seem to understand California taxes or have empathy for small businesses. We spent a lot of money for Financial Groove to file our taxes, however the waited until the last minute to file them, and then filed them incorrectly. We now have a huge fine and they aren't willing to help us with it, even though it was their mistake. We never get the same person on the phone that we talked to the last time, and have even been hung-up on multiple times. read more
