It was a shot in the dark that going to this small local theater would be a good time. Some aren't kept up well and others have bad screens and worse seats. But not the Fine Arts Theatre! We walked right up and bought 2 tickets. You have to provide proof of vaccination but we were good there. The concession was nice, as was the small lobby at the front. They had some good popcorn which we got, along with many beverage options including a couple local beers, which is what we went with. The place was spotless clean. I could tell plenty of care went into this place to maintain its original movie theater feeling. It seems it must be at least 50 years old. Our theater was on the 2nd floor. Half way up though(quite a few stairs), there was a nice common room and some bathrooms too. I checked out the old projectors and editing machine they had there, pretty cool. The theater itself had one upgrade that is mandatory these days, stadium seating. I think even those of us that like a retro-theater still like a unobstructed view of the screen. The sound and screen were great. I forgot that we were in a small local theater, which is the biggest compliments I think you can give really. If they are playing the movie you like, definitely go to the Fine Arts, and support the small theaters.

Thankful to find a place that prioritizes health over profits. I enjoyed the screening of The Worst Person in the World - definitely will return here again the next time I'm in town.

If I could give this place a fifty-five, I would! You know why? History, it's a local business, good movie selection, and my personal favorite, THEY DON'T GOUGE FOR CONCESSIONS!! I got a beer, a bottle of water, AND a popcorn for less than $10!

Favorite place in Asheville to see movies. They bring in the best selection, sell sake, and have $5 movie nights. What else could you want?

They bring the right stuff to town with the vibe to match. Plus, they have the finest popcorn around. I'm not kidding.

They show cool movies that you can't see in mega theaters. They serve beer and wine. They have my stamp of approval!

Since this was early afternoon, we decided on a Popcorn lunch, so got a bucket and large drink. Theater was very clean well organized, staff was very friendly and helpful. We were expecting a lot of sudden surprise moments from Ridley but we were disappointed. A bit of a lame episode in the Alien Franchise. But theatre was great, cool but not cold, sound up a bit but not too loud. On the way out, the restrooms were spotless. A very pleasant experience. We thought for sure our GPS was off because the theater is way in back of mall shops.

How hard is it to manage inventory? The snack bar hasn't re-stocked their premium-priced caramel corn in four weeks and the center soft drink machine has been out of flavored Coke Zero for at least three weeks. The snack bar attendants were understanding, but couldn't say when the caramel corn will be back. Disappointing for a weekly movie goer who buys the best, that is when it is available.

Even the building, with it's old delivery ramp and the fact that it shares its doors with a Ceramics Gallery, screams modern, contemporary and inventive. The Flood Gallery is so much more then a mere gallery, it is a non-profit and has established everything from artist-residency programs, public events and workshops, and educational activities, seeking to make art a vital and important part of life in Asheville. Contemporary art is truly something of its own, you either hate it or love it. But, you must admit that it truly gives its spectators the chance to create their own interpretation and also delve a little deeper into the complex mind of the artist. This gallery is chalk full of art that is: provocative, challenging, daring, relevant, and important.
