Shocked by complacency. On Sunday June 28th 2026, We took our four year old to his first movie in a theater. The 1:10pm showing of Toy Story 5 in theater 15. Around the middle of the movie sunlight pierced the theater as the left emergency exit door opens and I see two males walking into the theater from outside. I leap to my feet with my heart in my throat to assess the situation. As I attempt to catch up to them as they hit the hallway, they split up and I see that one is in all black clothing, noticeably fit and wearing a backpack. As I get closer I see he has curly hair, broad face and cauliflower ears from wrestling or MMA. I step out of theater and alert the concession staff that I need the police. The staff were receptive but there was no police response. I step back into the theater to find the backpacked intruder seated and texting on his phone. Soon after another father joins in concerned and his wife ushers their children out of the theater. Mr Backpack gets up and exits the theater via the lobby according to the other father, while I was searching the rest of theater 15 for someone out of place. We ended up staying to finish the movie and a manager did come and speak to us. Other patrons left the theater scared. That being said the movie was ruined for us and I'm not sure that with no action plan or audible alarm, police presence, or threat being taken seriously I'd ever return. Still concerned after the movie, I later tracked down the man in black and discovered he was a server at 131 Main. I questioned him and he was nice enough to explain that someone had exited looking for a bathroom and he escorted them back inside and decided to take a peak at the movie. Seems more likely an employee was letting a friend in to see a movie for free but either way I was satisfied that it wasn't a dressed rehearsal for an attack. Sadly in 2026 I can't take chances with my family's life in a venue that isn't going to offer safety and security. Why is the emergency exit alarm not going off ???? Isn't that fire code ? If this had been a Dark Knight situation we were sitting ducks and help was not coming. We drove two hours for this movie one way and arranged for my parents to keep our younger child. 20 years of using this theater but no more. read more

NEVER, ever buy a seat on the aisle, the aisle lights are so bright you can't see the movie it's like having a bright flashlight in your face causing you to miss the movie because your blinded!!!! I guess regal can't afford qualified electricians that understand the concept of lighting and how it works. Also, They now force you to walk through a maze of marketing candy and crap just to get to the popcorn purchase, causing twice the wait!! On a recent visit to Ashville, we wanted to watch a movie, the movie itself turned out to be a bust, but the theater was pretty cool. We got some seats in the RPX theater. The reclining leather chairs were very comfortable and the sound comes right through your seating with the vibration. That part was great so I would definitely check it out. I lovvve going to movies here. I rarely do as it is a 20-30 minute drive from my home and there are other closer options but, when I do, I am a happy lady. This is an updated theatre with the really comfy lounge chairs that are large and lay back. They're so comfortable, that I could easily fall asleep if the movie was boring. I always bring my own fleece blanket, so I'm always super duper cozy here. Because of the update and the comfy chairs, the prices are about $11-12 per evening ticket for adults and there are less seats available than the old school theatres so when you purchase tickets, you also get to pick your seat. I love this because it makes it easy to order online and know that even if you arrive when credits have already started, you'll still get the seat you reserved. And, if you do end up with a front row seat, because of the lounging capability and comfy seats, it's actually still enjoyable. Like any theatre, their treats are overpriced, but they do have a decent offering of the usual theatre snacks (Icees, popcorn, M&M's, etc) but they also have a few other options such as sandwiches, fries, etc. They also have beer and wine. Woohoo. I've been here for several movies ranging from comedy to drama to horror and I think it's a fantastic spot for any of them. Love this spot. read more

We have not been to a movie theatre in a very long time but yesterday was a rainy Sunday which was a perfect opportunity. We decided to go see the new Joker movie. First I'll say this, we went to another nearby theatre and they only had two seats left at the very front. No way would that be enjoyable. So we left and headed to this one. I don't know if every theatre is like this or not since we haven't been in years, but it's interesting you buy tickets and pick your seats now. I guess it's a fair way to do it? I pulled up the website and bought tickets/seats just to make sure we wouldn't be out of luck again! $30 matinee price. We found parking easily and walked right in, showed the ticket master/checker my tickets on my email and he told us where we would be going. We got there at 2:20, movie starts at 2:25 so we headed over to concession for snacks. There were 4 lines, all about 8 people deep but that's including couples. We literally waited 20 minutes to get to the counter. Those people were incredibly slow. A lady came up to the counter to complain about salty popcorn.. that was kind of entertaining. They refunded her. I guess she doesn't know that's how popcorn is supposed to be? Anyway, we got our drink and candy ($18) and headed to our RPX movie. The large is like super size. If we go back we would probably get a small or medium to share because we had more than half of our drink left. Thankfully the movie hadn't started yet when we arrived. The seats were the most comfortable seats ever! Holy crap, it really changes the way experience. I'm glad we went, but I'd rather spend $48 on a really awesome lunch and dessert. This location has been without food for months or I'm just the most unlucky individual in town. I fail to understand how during peak hours, they "just ran out" of every snack that isn't popcorn or chips. Also, "we're out of Pepsi," when you serve Pepsi products would be hilarious if it didn't mean I had to drink fruit punch. Popcorn it is... wait, that ended up being stale and had a taste that even copious amounts of butter couldn't mask. This is before the high school aged staff spent more time talking amongst themselves than helping customers and begrudgingly obliged when a friendly older couple had the nerve to ask to see what sizes popcorn came in. If I'm going to pay more for a ticket than I would at the local competing theater, it should at least be a decent experience, right? my friend and I had previously bought tickets to go see the Terrifier 3 movie together since she is moving Tuesday. The workers were disrespectful and made it a huge deal that we were teenagers, calling us out through the entire theatre USING A MEGAPHONE saying that we "broke in" and that "they (we) are now found." They humiliated us and made it seem like we were just some hoodrats ‍. There were so many people in there and the workers, especially the managers, were unprofessionally handling a "issue" that wasn't even an issue in the first place. Everyone was looking at us and pointing, especially the employees. My friend and I felt completely degraded, uncomfortable, and generally disgusted with the establishment. This has never happened before as we did this a couple times before. Again, we bought tickets and we were just planning on watching a movie. We explained that we bought them online and they completely dismissed the fact. In my opinion the Regal offers the best movie going experience in Asheville. They have 15 screens which means they probably have whatever it is you're looking for. Seating is assigned and all of the auditoriums have stadium seating with recliners. And really nice recliners at that. This makes for a very comfortable movie watching environment. The concessions stand offers the standard staples but also has much more adventurous items such as tacos. Yes, tacos at a movie theater. My only real complaint is that if you decided to purchase something more adventurous, like tacos, the seats don't have tables attached to them. So you'll have to hold your plate and figure it out while you're watching your movie. The theater is also located in a very pleasant part of town. There are plenty of eating and drinking options within walking distance. All in all, a visit to the Regal Biltmore Grande is a lot of fun. read more

Update: the newness of their renovation is wearing off. It's still the better option in our area, but there are plenty of ways management could improve the flow in the lobby. It would definitely make sense to have a single line like those at amusement parks to manage the crowd wanting to buy snacks. The way it is makes little sense and it adds to an overall feeling of mob. And, the way the cinemas access and egress seems potentially risky if there were an emergency. I'm not sure there's a better way to manage that, but it does seem to merit consideration. read more

We thoroughly enjoy going to the movies as a family, and thought the Biltmore would be a newer, more posh experience (it bears the name Biltmore, after all, and is in a swanky shopping district...). The seats are comfortable, and the theaters are well laid out, but the concession stand is truly lacking. During peak hours, the two times we have been here as a family, we have waited in long lines, only to get to the counter, order concessions, and be forced to stand to the side and wait for our items. It becomes very crowded as patrons from each line must move to the side of the counter and wait, en masse, for their popcorn, food drinks, etc. Perhaps having one cashier, and one runner per register would resolve this issue during peak hours? Once you have your food, there is not adequate space to dress it, and in the case of popcorn, there are zero options for salting or buttering your own popcorn. In our case, we waited quite a while for Cinnabons, while patrons piled up at the counter, also waiting. When we did receive our drinks and popcorn, we had to hold them, waiting for our last items while we were jostled by other customers, spilling popcorn and drinks onto an already spill laden counter. My daughter ran her sleeves through pop and beer, as we stood, waiting far too long. During one visit, we realized our popcorn had not been buttered or salted by the concession staff, despite our request for the toppings. It was such a zoo, we decided to forgo a second trip to concessions for the toppings. On our first visit, we were surprised to learn the seats do not have tables/trays, so we were balancing popcorn and food in our laps. Additionally, although seating is assigned at ticket purchase, we have found other theater goers in our seats, and been forced to find other seating for our family to watch the movie together. read more

This is THE only place worth going to see a movie in Asheville (if you care about sound and picture quality). The screens are great, the seats comfortable, the prices great (compared to $13 in New York City for EVERY show, even before 5pm), the sound not too loud and crystal clear and the overall appearance of the theater is excellent. The staff are friendly, there is more than enough parking with the nearby parking lot and deck and it is right off of the highway. Avoid Carmike 10, Beaucatcher, Carolina (formerly known as Hollywood) and NEVER go to Cinebarre! read more

I would like to go to the Regal Grande to see Dune, but I am running into obstacles - all of them coming from the Regal company itself. At the company's own website, the movie schedule does not go past Thursday, two days away. There is no way to even plan to go to a movie at the Regal this weekend! There is no phone number for the local movie theater. At the corporate number, there is an extension for "showtimes," but the only message is "Check the website for showtimes. Click." I also happened upon a link from "Laura P." of Regal customer service to "have the customer service crew get back to you," clicked on that, and got a "not found" messsage. The company has created a protective shield of impenetrability to make sure that we do not go to their theater this weekend. I don't have a great personal stake in the continued survival of Regal Theaters, but I can't see any way that this could be good for business. read more

Compared to other multiplexes this is very average. The concession stand is understaffed. The popcorn, even just popped, has a stale taste. The restrooms are covered in water. The seating is stadium but not super great in the front. The concession people do handle money and then handle popcorn so get used to the germs (although this is probably the case everywhere). They do sell beer, so that's an optional plus! Concessions will kill your wallet like any other theater. We had gone the day after Christmas and the lines were super long since there were only 2 people manning the ticket booth. They have RPX, and 3D selections which is good. In general, I have an affinity towards the Regal chain since they seem better managed and usually only have 15 minutes of previews unlike the other chains having 20. Great theater for the whole family. Not exactly a bargain but prices for tickets average for the area. They do have the reclining seats in some theaters, well worth the extra few bucks a ticket. To shave some time off your wait use the "atom tickets" app. You can download it and use it for many, many movie theaters. Buy your tickets before you get there and scan your smart phone inside at the ticket taker station. No waiting in line = more time to decide between M&Ms and Sour Patch Kids. Concessions will set you back but the popcorn really is delicious freshly popped with extra butter and a cold drink doesn't hurt. Be prepared to take a second mortgage though as your snacks won't be cheap. If you can wait till the movie is over for tasty fare there are so many very nice places to have dinner, trendy establishments to get drinks or casual hang out eateries for families. Pretty much anything you want within walking distance. Parking can be tricky. Use the parking garage and save yourself the headache of driving in circles hoping someone leaves. Save that extra time for previews. You'll be thankful you did. read more

If there weren't another theater close by with the new recliner seats I would give this one a better rating. The other theater has a tray (with a cupholder) that slides out in front of you and the recliners are separated so each seat has it's own armrests. I so wish this theater had those options! I like using the app to buy my tickets bc there is usually a very long line on weekend nights, especially with much-hyped-about new movies. The recliners are comfortable even if you have to share an armrest. Even the short people in our family can now see the screen no matter who sits in front of us. I've never eaten anything other than popcorn or boxed candy from concessions. The popcorn can be hit or miss. Much better hot and freshly made. read more
