We moved into our house a few years ago and decided it was time to clean up the yard and trees which were a bit overgrown. We called Fine Tree Care and the owner Jeff came out to walk the yard with us. He had a deep knowledge not only of the trees we had but also in the yard design which showcases our house best and the sense that the work he envisioned would encourage growth throughout the day and each season. You could tell he was sensing how added light and breezes would make each tree feel. He reviewed the yard as an ensemble and not a set of individual plants. He also noticed a critical issue with our centerpiece 150-year old oak tree we needed to address ASAP. He got his team right on it as we wanted to transform the yard in just three days while my wife was on a business trip. I counted 2 stump grinders, three booms and 8 chainsaws working diligently and before my wife came home, the yard was cleaned up, all debris removed and the house view transformed. The light inside is so bright and the views spectacular. The best part was Jeff and his team were all so friendly, worked hard with a smile and always ready to answer any questions I had. Jeff actually saved me money .. because he's honest about what needs to be done or, in this case, not done. I wanted to remove a tree because I thought it was dead. I worked with Jimmy and I thought he was very knowledgeable and had great insight into ideas on things I hadn't noticed but I was very glad he did. Jeff and the Fine Tree crew did an exemplary job for us this year. We needed a medium sized fir tree removed and the stump ground, a large towering fir pruned of its dead branches, and a huge 100+ year-old olive tree pruned and shaped. We called several companies and received many bids but it wasn't until Jeff spent some time reviewing our needs and walking our property that we knew we had found the right company. Jeff listened to us, advised us and helped us clarify our priorities. His bid wasn't the lowest but it was the most carefully considered and it was clear that he knew what he was talking about. Jeff's knowledge and expertise is impressive and he matches it by having the right equipment and the right crew on the job. His crew was very courteous, respectful, and knowledgeable. They shared that they loved working for Jeff and that he made sure they received continuing education to move up in the company. Everyone on the team was careful of the landscaping around and under our trees. None of our landscaping was harmed and this included recent plantings under our olive tree. The crew did a great job of grinding the branches and cleaning up the site. You could tell that they took pride in their work and in their company. While the job was in progress, we had Jeff remove 4 smaller oaks that we thought we could cut ourselves. He had his crew take care of them, grind the stumps, and remove all of the wood at no extra charge. Jeff came by after the job was done to make sure we were happy with the job and to advise us how to keep our olive in tip top shape. We are totally satisfied with Fine Tree Care's work and will call them back to care for our olive tree as advised. We first met Jeff Rebischung, owner of Fine Tree Care, at the Sonoma county Home Fair. After checking online and researching his company's reputation, we decided to call him for an estimate. We had two large redwood trees that were rubbing against our Guerneville home with large branches dropping frequently and we knew it was time to remove them to prevent more damage. Our job was complicated by the location of a power pole in our front yard and the close proximity to our neighbor's home. We needed someone we could trust to do the job safely and we felt very comfortable with Jeff's attention to detail and his ability to coordinate all aspects of the job. Jeff took the time to meet with several neighbors, as we needed to access other properties in order to remove the trees. Everyone he met with felt reassured by his confidence in his crew and their ability to handle the delicate operation. During the removal process, it was discovered that the top of our tallest tree was split and decayed. It was just a matter of time before the tree would have caused serious damage to our home. Thankfully, the crew was able to safely remove the rotted section and I am happy to report that the entire job was uneventful. I was impressed with the entire crew. Not even one star. This guy came out when I requested a bid for a downed oak tree. He had apparently been here years before to bid something and did not get the job...this was evident by his remarks and then his poor attitude. He proceeded to tell me for 2 hours that another tree was leaning, would fall on an immediate basis and that I should hire him to take it out NOW, like tonight. He went to my neighbors (for 45 minutes) to ask for permission to use their driveway to pull his equipment into before he ever gave a bid. I had originally asked for a bid to remove downed tree, and now added removal of the leaning one. NO bid for either of this, only a bid to 'top' the leaning tree, not remove it. Guess he did not see the downed 47' tree in the front of the house, next to the leaning one, or hear my requests for bids for removal of both. I have had three tree people out, no one said boo about the other tree, nor did my arborist of 22 years. Just now had another tree contractor come out who said there was plenty of room to use equipment as I asked him to bid removing both trees. Now I have gotten 2 icky e-mails from "Jeff" and realize his visit to the neighbors was to alarm them only and push me into a job. Wish I had the great experience as everyone else did, but sadly not the case. I have hired another tree company with not only good communication, they are ethical and honest. read more

Fine Tree Care went above and beyond my expectations! We had a huge Douglas fir fall on our inlaw unit during the terrible storms. Jeff and his crew came in with an enormous crane and lifted the tree off the house, disposed of all the wood, branches and debris and ground up the stump. When I came back the next day, I couldn't believe how great the place looked! If it wasn't for the tarp on the roof and the damage done to the house, you wouldn't have known a tree fell. They secured a tarp to the roof, put all of the landscaping back in it's place (once they removed the gigantic stump) and completely cleaned up everything. I was SO impressed and am recommending them to everyone I talk to. read more

I feel I really ripped off by this company. I have four large oak trees. Jimmy, the supervisor, charged me almost $4,000 to trim them - aside from cutting out some small dead wood, they removed one large branch and did cut two small trees down for me but that was it. He arrived with three lift trucks and four crews - way overkill and estimated 7 hours. They did a lot of chatting and hanging around and Jimmy was on the phone every time I went out to check on things. When they finished, there was still a lot of dead wood in the trees. After three calls, Jimmy said he would come back to check on that but never set a time with me and one day showed up unannounced while I wasn't home and left a card. He then didn't return my call. I gave up on getting my money's worth. I've had to hire another company just 2 1/2 years later who is charging me half as much and doing way more work - including removing some large branches that are weighing two of my oaks in one direction. He has also found Sudden Oak Disease in one oak. Don't get ripped off by this company, shop around. read more

I live in a redwood forest and taking care of tall trees is not an easy task. They also fixed my driveway that had redwoods coming up in it. They used a stump grinder on the root and got it out. They patched it properly with asphalt. My Yelp login shows I live in Illinois, but I moved to Sebastopol from there a few years ago. Anyway, we had a tree care specialist down the street where we used to live, and we got spoiled -- or so we thought. When we moved to Sebastopol to an acre property with 60+ trees, we worried a lot about how we'd handle it. Finally (yes, after two years), we called four different local vendors to see what they could do for the budget we had. The only vendor that came close was Fine Tree Care. But they weren't just the cheapest estimate to remove 10 trees and trim dead wood off of about 20, making our home much more fire safe and attractive. They were by far the most knowledgeable. Shockingly so. Plus super nice folks...and they use good ear protection, which we worry about because we know about hearing loss...so it feels good to employ their company when they treat their employees clearly so well. No downsides, all upsides, and a beautiful experience to boot. Oh...also...they finished this impossible job in 2 days. Yup. Crazy good. read more

Terrible work, sloppy, another company will do repair. After the recent fires we wanted dead limbs removed from a tall liquid amber tree and our overgrown shrubs thinned and trimmed. The first estimate did not include the tree work, but Jimmy verbally agreed to do it.Big mistake! Later he denied that was part of the job. A few days later on Feb 21, he arrived at 4:30 with some very tired-looking workers, assuring us another crew was on the way. More people did arrive, but it was dark! Some had headlamps. We could hear chainsaws. It was so dark that we refused to pay the bill. In the morning it looked like a windstorm went through the yard. Branches, twigs, leaves everywhere with some shrubs not touched, the tree work not done. It took me an hour to clean up and rake up the yard. Our ground cover plants were trampled. Then he denied the tree was part of the job, but we insisted. A few days later someone came with along pole trimmer and did another sloppy job of hacking off the dead branches. A few days later, the owner came by and agreed that the job did not meet his standards. He brought in a crew and they shaped the shrubs as they should have the first time.
