The 2nd time I took her I called and said that I'd already groomed she, but I wanted them to grind her nails and trim her feet/pads. They said they could do that. I brought her in and they did a hack job on her face! I'll never go here again. They don't verify or communicate before charging ahead. The groomer scolded her with the wrong name and was very rushed, grabbing her chin hair and cutting even as my dog wasn't holding still at all.

I understand there is limited staff, and I realize they have to turn their attention to other customers and tasks, but I would have liked to watch our dog more through the back windows before committing to leaving her there for the day. I'm guessing there were between 70 and 100 dogs in the play area, and most seemed well-adjusted and content. However, it seemed a bit much, and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our dog there. She loves playing but could not connect with any specific dog and was overwhelmed by the many dogs showing interest in her. We watched for at most 10 minutes, and the whole time, she was looking to hide, running from the other dogs with her tail between her legs. The staff was present, monitoring behavior and cleaning up, so the issue for me is the number of dogs, not the staff. I asked if there was a maximum number of dogs they allowed, and without a yes or no, I was told the number of kennels they had, which was over 250. The kennels can hold more than one dog at a time, so it's feasible that 300 dogs could be there if all the kennels were full. The kennels are in a climate-controlled warehouse-type area with individual chain-link "suites" and the regular areas. The difference is a little more square footage, and a webcam comes with the suite. I'd summarize this place as the big box store of doggy daycares where you'll get everything you need, but not necessarily the best experience for the pet. This review is based on my personal experience. I am not seeking a refund, to be made whole again, or for changes to be made. It is simply informative.

With Winston, our experience has been staff making the mistake of assuming he is either a Siberian husky, therefore the mishandling or fear from his size begins. Planet Pet Spa, had him scheduled first thing in the morning, so he would experience minimal activity to ensure he could ease into his FIRST experience. My main focus was to have Sir Winston, deshedded, shampooed and dried. Not much, but with a 120 lb who can be reactive, I had anticipated this to be challenging. My biggest concern was the staff being able to handle my him when he didn't want to move (as he generally will sit down in protest if he doesn't want to go). Our groomer, Nazarene, at drop off was not even fazed by Winston's size. Which only reassured me that I had placed Winston in good hands. Upon picking Winston up, he was in good spirits and seemed to have had a good experience. I struggled with looking for a big dog groomer, and I'm so thankful that we found Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene. I highly recommend Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene, if you have a giant breed. They ensure all vaccinations are current so your dog will be safe and complete temperament tests before your dog interacts with the pack. My boy was recently adopted from the Animal Defense League and he was so scared. I am sure he never experienced Doggy daycare before. They were patient with him and loved on him as if he was their own. When he got really nervous they separated him and gave him some space. He is now a regular several times a week. They have great financial packages, offer tons of services and soon they will opening the area to wash your own doggies. So the pricing was extremely high. Not only that, my dogs breed is not to have their hair cut shorter than 1 inch. I specified this before the service and thought the owner of the salon would know this already. My dog came out with fur less than half an inch in some areas, the longest at half an inch max. So his under coat could possibly be damaged and not grow back because of this mistake. At such a high cost for a groom, I expected a better outcome.

The woman in the front said I would receive a call at 1 to pick them up. This is pretty standard when I groom them so no problem. It was a little after 1 and I never heard from them so I called to check. She said the groomer said they would be ready at 4! When I asked what has been done in the 4 hours... she said they were "bathed and brushed". I told her I'm not having my dogs sit there all day and to not touch them and I picked them up. When I arrived the receptionist told me "we are only going to charge you for the bath and groom" well that was all that was done! On top of That it was a little over $60! I asked for an itemized receipt and of course they couldn't provide one. I was beyond frustrated because now I have to pay again to actually get them groomed in a timely manner! She tried to get an attitude and give an excuse that "we need to take breaks too". Needless to say, I will never be returning here. Unprofessional and lame excuses. When a beautiful Russian Blue kitty was surrendered to them, they took care of him for more than six months. When I finally adopted him he was in great shape physically and not traumatized by the experience. Obviously, the staff cares for all their animals and treat them extremely well. A few weeks later, I took my adopted guy (Nicholas) back to Huebner Oaks for a full checkup so I could put him on my pet insurance. Their local cat expert is Dr. Krysten Vredegoor, who proved to be superb with Nicholas. Huebner Oaks has an easy-to-access parking lot, friendly and efficient staff, as well as boarding + grooming facilities. An excellent choice for those who want a full-service vet.
