The end result is usually a bunch of lines in my head and I end up buzzing it. Spencer briefly asked me what I wanted and I gave him what I thought was a terrible explanation. 20 min later he had given me the best haircut of my life and it was exactly what I wanted! All my family agrees that this is the best haircut they've seen on me. He was proffessional, friendly, fast, and did a fantastic job.

I find it humorous to read some of the negative reviews on yelp (one guy had to wait five minutes after walking in the door with no appointment and gave one star, another review the stylist got sick and had to cancel the appointment before it started and some guy gave that one star). That is just pathetic, waiting five minutes is the worst thing that could happen, the worst possible rating??? smh. Honestly, I have nothing I could come up with negative about this place. If I was super picky I'd say maybe the parking lot gets a little full during lunch rush sometimes, but it just means it takes 45 seconds to find a spot and that is if I'm being super picky. It's sad to me that a business like this that consistently goes above and beyond and does a great job isn't rated higher. My hair is curly and hence quite forgiving. I suspect an orangutang with hiccups could do my hair and I'd challenge anyone to know the difference. As a result, I frequent a major chain that costs about ten bucks w/ a coupon. A hair cut rarely lasts more than 10 minutes. While convenient, there's no sense of connection or relationship. The person who cuts your hair is randomly assigned based on who's next in queue. Recently, my Dad suggested I try "Charlie's Haircuts of Distinction." Out of a sense of filial duty, I agreed to check it out. I made an appointment and was able to get in the same day. I showed up at the appointed hour and gave the place a quick once over. The decor was up to date, but it definitely had the feel of an older barbershop--complete with older demographics--lots of grey and white hair among both the well groomed stylists and their clients. Seeing this, I was a little apprehensive about whether I might emerge from the place with an "old man" hair cut (e.g. Donald Trump comb-over). My fears turned out to be unwarranted. The gentleman who cut my hair spent more than 30 minutes making sure everything was just right. In addition to pleasant conversation, he frequently checked in to make sure that what he was doing was consistent with what I wanted. I can't be entirely objective, but I think I emerged one well-coiffed dude--something my wife confirmed when I got home. One of the better haircuts I've had in years.

This called for a trip to a barbershop, I thought. A real one. The fact that she is an Asian female barber intrigued me. With my son's straight Asian hair, an Asian barber would know how to handle this the best. I was right.  Joanne was friendly, familiar and efficient. And most importantly, she gave the best haircut I've ever seen. Exactly as my son requested and better! He was VERY happy with the end result and it means a lot coming from a critical kid like him.
