We hired Finesse Remodeling to re-do our very tiny galley kitchen in January. After interviewing 3 other contractors, we decided to go with Avi and Finesse because he showed the most enthusiasm and excitement for our project. I loved his attitude- he came in so full of joy, and never lost that joy throughout the project. You can tell he loves what he does. He was the only contractor who seemed to really hear me when I said what I had hoped for, and then he pitched his own ideas along those lines. We took almost all his ideas- which were really innovative and interesting. He followed up with me a couple days after the estimate (the only contractor to do so), and I figured if he was that interested in the job, his company would definitely do it well- I was right. A lot of the other contractors we interviewed made us feel like the job was too small for them, but we never felt that way with Avi and his crew. He always answered our calls or texts- which is actually pretty rare in this business. He was very responsive- never shirking responsibility- and definitely willing to fix any problems that came up during the whole process. That being said, there were a few problems. The project ended up taking about 2 weeks longer than originally estimated, and also cost quite a bit more. Some of that was just the nature of upgrading an 85 year old house (we had cloth wiring that needed to be entirely ripped out and replaced, and that process probably delayed our "simple" remodel by about 1 week.) Unfortunately, we also had some issues with the custom cabinets not being the right size, but Avi got the cabinet company to come back and make the fixes. The window sills were supposed to be made of the backsplash granite, but there was an issue with the measurements for that too, and we ended up with wooden sills instead. They still look great. This was my first experience with remodeling, and after talking to several friends who have had much worse experiences, it seems my issues were rather minor and not out of the ordinary. The most important thing is that Avi responded to and corrected all of the issues in a timely manner. In the end, all that really matters is the finished product. And the finished kitchen is truly beautiful! Avi's team, Luis and his son, were outstanding. You could tell they take a lot of pride in what they do, and they never half-assed any part of the remodel- the floor, the replacement dry wall, the trim, the window sills, the painting- it was all done with a lot of care and pride in making it right! Are you looking for a reliable contractor for a major (or minor) remodel? If so, look no further--though you should still get a few quotes. Avi was one of several contractors we considered for a full kitchen gut and remodel. He wasn't the cheapest, nor was he the most expensive. What stood out was that he was honest, straightforward, genuinely funny, and easy to work with. We ultimately chose Avi because of his strong reviews and his consistent follow-up while we were deciding. He made us feel confident that he would be dedicated to the project from start to finish--and he absolutely was. His team was professional and very clean. They cleaned up at the end of every workday. Avi never disappeared and was always available by phone, text, or in person. He and his team were responsive, kind, and easy to work with, and the project was completed within the quoted budget and on time. Did we learn things we'd do differently next time? (Let's hope there is no next time!) Yes--mostly about cabinetry. For example, some drawers that appear standard depth from the front actually have a support track underneath. While this adds sturdiness, it reduces usable drawer depth. Next time, we'd measure more carefully--and you should too. Avi was never short on ideas for solving problems, drawing on his experience and expertise. That's exactly what you want in a contractor. At the same time, he never pushed his own ideas if we had a different vision. He made it clear that we, as homeowners, were the final decision-makers. I never thought I'd say it but I was really happy with my contractor (Avi) for our kitchen, pantry, living room remodel. I've had bad experiences with contractors in the past but this time I was pleasantly surprised it went really smooth. We had a pretty challenging project turning our small kitchen into a modern centerpiece of the house. I know it's always a tough job to estimate costs accurately, keep the project running efficiently and resolve all the unforeseeable that pop up in a fair way but Avi seems to be born for the job. Avi always kept it professional, was always courteous and attentive to our needs, and he's just an excellent explainer and problem solver overall. Even when we had a challenging issue with a product supplier, he was able to think out of the box to get us a resolution we never thought was possible. This was our second time using Finesse. First time was a complete bathroom remodel. This second project was much larger in scope- conversion of a 700 sq. ft unfinished space into a complete ADU, as well as rebuilding a roof deck. From the moment the project began (drafting plans) to the final walkthrough, we felt like we were in good hands. We met with him and two other contractors regarding remodeling the three bathrooms in our house and he stood out from the rest. This is our second time using Avi and his Finesse team to beautify our house. One of our bathrooms was in disrepair and badly needed a facelift from its early 90's look. At the same time, we decided to paint a large family-style room and our office. Also, we put in new ceiling lighting. How did it come out? Fabulous! We remodeled our kitchen, flooring, and powder room all within our budget thanks to Avi and his willingness to make a deal. There is only two things I really want Avi to improve. 1) He has tendency to put extreme care on work at the very beginning of the project, but as project reaches end milestone (and in some cases, it is bit delayed due to inspection schedule, etc), he has tendency to try to close project as quickly as possible. I understand - it's all business - but things like this sometimes give some dent to overall impressions. 2) Also, he would knew what I'm referring to - there were two things he promised to do, but ended up not executing it. It's always better not to make empty promises than not making such promise from the beginning. No deal breaker, and I'm not going to shove off 1 star just because of it. We had a fire loss at our apartment complex, 2 of our units were completely gutted and we hired Finesse Remodeling and Consulting to do the recon and couldn't be any happier with the outcome.
