Sadly, this company did not live up to their reviews or expectations. Background: Our home and driveway is built on expansive soil, in a hillside neighborhood of Los Angeles. We have narrow steep driveway and we have 1 ton truck at the top. Our retaining wall for the driveway needs to be replaced, as it leans inward, narrowing the driveway further. We have wide cars. This was explained and shown from the beginning. The estimate & project manager never measured the size of the vehicles in reference to spacing with the suggested gate, position of polls, level of the ground nor water/mud flow. If I had not checked for myself and fully trusted them to install the gate, several of these cars would have never been able to safely exit the property. The gate suggestions, as designed, stay 1, would have narrowed the driveway further. Combined with the risk of the gate not opening due to gravel, mud and a warped/torqued guide rail, became high. The brief history is this: On day 1 of 2 of the project, I became concerned of the work I was seeing. Potential problems became apparent. That despite the stated 15 years experience, this team did not have the full scope of issues as they should have. Thus, I butted in with observations and issues that would interfere with a successful install. . They were going to bury one part of a track, in concrete, within the aged asphalt driveway for $2300 extra and then"bolt" another part of the guide rail as an extension, onto uneven soil and an extremely old concrete garage entrance (see pictures). That garage concrete would never hold bolts long term. The track would warp quickly, due to the lack of being level with the driveway, potentially causing the heavy iron fence to de-rail. This is just plain mechanics and physics. Functionally it would not work and aesthetically, the install of the railing would have been grossly ugly. They also failed to account for the past mud flow that would have covered the rail at the other end, blocking the rollers from moving unless constantly cleaned. This was a shoot for the hip without thinking the design through. No system level review. As such, I went and reviewed properly done gate system at equestrian facilities I work with. Results: I HAD TO CATCH THESE ISSUES MYSELF and do my own drawing and measurements. As a engineer I had an education in drafting, I thus I am luckier than most, in that I know how to do these skills plus have access to a architect as a neighbor, a father, brother-in-law and husband who have general contracting licenses and have worked for a major theme park design company. I have watched installs done properly, for years, by the best. I sent pictures of what this company was doing and the conditions, to these trusted people and talked to our neighbors, showing them what was going on....they were horrified...as am I. Not quality. Not close. They SHOULD HAVE said, these issues exist and must be fixed prior to an install. They didn't. Findings: This company shoots from the hip and it shows. No drawings No conditions evaluation and listing potential issues Poor quality in design I STOPPED THE PROJECT, tried to find a solution and when none was acceptable CANCELLED THE PROJECT prior to completion. Then told them to come get their stuff and equipment. No gate is better than a problem gate and ugly install. To add to the experience, after stopping the project and listing issues, the project manager/estimator, a young man named Ben, was personally insulting to me with writing text messages of "answer the phone and act like an adult"...I was on the phone with my own clients, in my own business, taking care of the needs and demands of those who pay my company. Sadly, AVOID THIS COMPANY. If you choose to use them, manage every step of the process. Assume nothing.

What used to be an eyesore is now a space that literally makes our neighbors stop and do a double take. From start to finish, the customer service was unmatched. I changed my mind more times than I can count, and Roy was incredibly patient, flexible, and accommodating every step of the way. He really listened to what we wanted (and didn't want) and never pressured us into going over budget. The turnaround time was unbelievable--initial call on Tuesday, site visit Wednesday, and by the following Monday demo had started. The entire project was completed by Saturday! They transformed our lawn and side yard with beautiful artificial turf, planters, and even helped us convert unused space into a functional parking area. What really stood out was the extra care--daily check-ins, thoughtful recommendations, and even helping us pick up plants to save on delivery costs. That level of service is rare these days Their pricing is fair for the quality of work you get--it's absolutely worth it. We're beyond grateful for our new outdoor space. If you're on the fence, this is your sign!!! Book with them. You won't regret it!

Roy and his team…read morewere very friendly and professional, they cleaned up at the end of each day, and they went above and beyond my expectations. A little backstory...My entire house had been under a massive reconstruction for over a year-and-a-half. During that time the water had to be turned off, killing all of the grass and most of the plants, and turning my entire yard into a dirt lot with overgrown weeds. It was a hot mess. I wanted new drought-resistant plants and artificial grass with a drip system instead of sod grass with a sprinkler system like I had before, but Roy also made some great recommendations that I hadn't even considered. The most significant was replacing my old concrete patio with a bigger patio made of sand-colored pavers. What a difference that made! I couldn't believe that the entire landscaping job was done in just five days, and Roy let me know he was also available afterwards for any questions I might have. Six weeks later, when I had questions about my new drip system controller and wanted to make sure my plants were getting enough water, Roy personally came back out to my house and walked me through all of it. When he left he told me, "Just reach out if you need anything else. I'm here." And Roy means it. He truly wants you to be happy with the work they do and will go the distance to make sure you are. Also, if there is something you'd like done that they don't do (like trimming very tall trees), Roy will have a referral for you. I'm so happy I found Home Sweet Home. Not only did they turn my ugly dirt lot into a beautiful yard again, but it looks 10 times better than it did when I first bought my house in 2007! Thanks, guys!

The crew was incredibly polite, they showed up right on time every single day, and they cleaned up after themselves beautifully when they were finished. Our experience with DiBara Masonry was extremely disappointing…read more We initially met with Matt to review the plans for our project. He was knowledgeable, professional, and conveyed significant industry experience. We were then introduced to the sales team, who described the project as straightforward and estimated that the work could be completed within 6-8 weeks based on plans that had already been approved by the city. Instead, the project extended to approximately seven months and was marked by persistent communication issues, poor coordination among team members, inadequate project management, and a lack of consistent oversight. After the contract was signed, both Matt and our sales representative became largely unavailable. We were assigned a project manager who was unfamiliar with the approved plans and frequently required clarification on basic project details. When we raised concerns with our sales representative, we were told that project-related issues were outside his responsibility, and we were not directed to anyone else who could effectively address them. Partway through the project, the company hired a new Director of Operations who assured us that existing issues would be resolved and the project would be brought back on track. Unfortunately, communication remained inconsistent, calls and messages often went unanswered, and there were periods of multiple weeks when no work was performed on site. A significant issue throughout the project was the apparent lack of communication between departments. Sales, project managers, foremen, office staff, and accounting frequently appeared to be operating independently, resulting in repeated miscommunications, conflicting information, and a constant stream of redundant calls, texts, and emails. As a customer, it often felt as though we were responsible for relaying information between members of their own team. One (of many) examples: we scheduled a walk through prior to making our final payment. A week later the accounting team threatened to put a mechanic's lien on our house because we hadn't paid yet. Apparently no one was talking to each other within their office. The company also relied on a long succession of subcontractors. In our experience, many arrived on site without a clear understanding of the scope of work and without access to the approved plans. This led to confusion, delays, and avoidable mistakes. Most concerning were incidents that appeared to result directly from lack of oversight. Work performed by the team caused significant damage to our sewer line. On another occasion, concrete was scheduled to be poured over exposed electrical lines that had not yet been reconnected, a situation that could have created serious complications had it not been identified beforehand. We made several attempts to speak directly with Matt regarding our concerns about project quality, management, and coordination. However, we were repeatedly told that he was unavailable or booked weeks in advance, and we were never able to have a meaningful discussion about the issues affecting our project. Based on our experience, the company presented a far different level of organization and oversight during the sales process than what was ultimately delivered once construction began.

They added few rows without paying attention to detail of adding sufficient concrete between them. My mom had to tell the workers to fill in the gaps. Then we had to tell them to fill in the gaps on our neighbor side because we share a wall. They did lazy work. Those areas were not filled at the joints. Needless to say, years later, today I am having issues with the wall. Because of the size block they used, my wall is now leaning and starting to buckle out. The new contractor I hired said this new block that was added is not up to code and it is the incorrect type/size. They should have never used it. Contractor also said many blocks are not set correctly because the joints were not properly adhered together with enough concrete between them. I was charged $1300 to add these 2-3 rows of blocks. And this was at least 7-8 years ago. I feel like I was ripped off. Now I have to tear the wall down and do it all over again because it has leaned to far it can't be repaired. It has to be replaced. Very upsetting especially because I wanted to hire a small local business. I want to support my community. It feels like they took advantage of our lack of knowledge behind wall building and codes. That's prob the worst part.
