I am really glad they did. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with my parents. There was plenty of room for all of us. There were plenty of blankets and towels, and the full-sized kitchen gave the place a nice home-like feel. There were even chilled glasses in the freezer for our drinks! The view from the patio is amazing. We enjoyed some time just sitting outside watching boats sail around the lake. For the July 4th fireworks, we sat on the deck (which is exclusive for guests) right on the water. We could not have asked for a better view. As much as we liked the atmosphere of the room, we liked the owners even better. We interacted mostly with Olga, who was so sweet and accommodating. Anything we needed was provided. She treated us to a fresh watermelon, and even allowed my wife (who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan) to take a Bills glass that was in the freezer home. I cannot say enough good things about Admiral Peabody's. It is definitely a place at which I would stay over and over again.

The best place to stay in Watkins Glen on the lake? Admiral Peabody's 100%. My husband and I found…read morethis place last week by accident through a recommendation from a concierge at another hotel. We needed to find last-minute accommodations that would allow our dog and also didn't cost $500 a night after our van broke down unexpectedly. Admiral Peabody's was an affordable, clean and dog friendly hotel in Watkins Glen that we totally lucked into because it didn't even come up on our searches! This place totally exceeded our expectations. Admiral Peabody's doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like your own lakeside cottage. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. We were able to sneak a look at the one bedroom bungalow cottages which were also adorable! Our suite was roomy, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was also really nice sitting on the deck right outside of our room. PLUS, Admiral Peabody's has a private dock right on the lake with tables, chairs and a blue tooth music system. I'm not sure how old this yelp listing is but the owner now is Luke. HE IS THE BEST. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Watkins Glen, don't pass up this hidden gem.

The owner does a very good job of keeping it up. When I went to check in, nobody was at the office, but there was a phone number listed. I called, and unfortunately, the man that ran, the place was taking care of some personal business. All of the rooms are on a combination door lock so he gave me the combination, and told me we would just take care of the paperwork in the morning. I went over to check in in the morning, and my first night was so good, I decided to stay for another three nights. My first night was booked through hotels.com, but the owner told me that I could book with him directly for the remaining three nights, and he would give me a discount. It saved me some dollars. I appreciate it. He was friendly, and helpful. Again, nothing fancy on the room. The room and the bathroom were spotless The TV got a good picture with cable, there was a coffee pot, a fridge, and a microwave, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of room, and I'm a big guy. The only thing is, there is no shower mat, so you have to be careful. There were plenty of towels.. The Wi-Fi worked great, with enough speed to easily stream video one evening the Wi-Fi did go down, I contacted the gentleman, and he said he would take care of it. He actually came over to my room, to let me know had been fixed, when he could've just called or texted me. That was excellent service. The price was very reasonable, compared to some of the other places in town. Again, you're not getting anything fancy, you are getting a very simple comfortable place. Watkins Glen is right in the middle of the finger Lakes region. There are plenty things to do, lots of good shopping, and great restaurants. This is the perfect place to launch A visit to the finger lakes. I'm a fan. I would easily stay here again. Thanks.

It was perfect for our needs; large room, large…read morebathroom, larger than average sized mini-fridge, SUPER friendly and accommodating staff (Coral & all!), good location (1 mile from town), quiet 2 lane road (except for the 18-wheelers that zoom through here night & day going to/coming from the U.S. Salt plant @ the dead end of the road) , great views from all rooms of the lake w/tall chairs on the shared porch, excellent A/C. Bed was comfy, towels are large. No cleaning of room unless you request it. Breakfast (7-10 AM) is minimal with prewrapped mini-coffee cakes & muffins & rather weak coffee (we supplemented with our own breakfast). A couple of negatives: the driveway to the rooms & cottages is scarily steep, there is only just enough parking, there are approximately 70 steps down to the Tiki Bar & the marina from the rooms (more from the cottages), doors to the porch keep out outdoor sounds but the walls between rooms are really thin (we had to ask our neighbors twice to be quieter...@ 11:30 PM & 3 AM, although posted quiet time is from 10 PM to 7 AM). We handled these few negatives just fine & would gladly return. Construction has started for additional rooms that we were told will have private balconies w/jacuzzis.

No bathroom fan, so very steamy shower, and somehow the toilet was equipped with an undersized toilet seat (that was kinda weird- I had not ever experienced that before). Could not figure out why the restaurant was not packed, until I had the bourbon chicken cutlet. I have been in the restaurant business for fifty years, and I could not figure out how that "pan seared" chicken was ordered, cooked, and delivered in ten minutes. Could not possibly have been cooked to order. Crazy hard brown crust on both sides, dry and really inedible, served with burnt green beans and a loaded baked potato. The loaded baked potato was excellent! I ended up finishing my wife's pasta, which was advertised as spicy, but actually pretty mild. I requested red pepper flakes, but was told they did not have any. Ooooh Kay. Honestly, I hope they can find a way to match the food to the exceptional view! If so, they will be in great shape.

Several customers came after us and were given a room immediately. We asked why this was happening and the answer was the rooms were assigned rooms? Then they think someone was in the room we were supposed to get? They told us the room had been cleaned but now someone was in it? We continued to wait patiently for them to figure it out. They did inform us that they had no more rooms, yet three times after we tried checking in they continue to assign rooms to people. Its like we are in the twilight zone. At least offer us a drink at the bar or something. We now have been here over an hour and they cannot figure out what to do. My advice is dont book a room here unless you want to gamble sleeping in the car. Place has a great view of the lake and nice TV in the lobby.

It's central to the state park and Seneca Lake, as well as walking distance to shops and restaurants. The bed was comfortable, there was a TV and we had a mini fridge. One icky thing was that there was a half full Gatorade bottle on the floor when we walked in. The indoor pool was heated, nice for a few laps, but annoyingly you have to ask the desk for a key before using it. And there was some (minor) garbage on one of the chairs in the pool area. Everything worked in the room and it's always fun to watch Forensic Files as you drift off to sleep in a hotel. I just wish it was a bit cleaner.

The bed spreads looked dirty and we were very concerned about bed bugs. HUGE HEALTH VIOLATION. We even considered getting another hotel but there was nothing available in the area so we were stuck there. It was so bad I cried my eyes out. Nobody took a shower because it was disgusting in there. One of our beds was BROKEN and when you laid on it you sunk to the middle. So glad we were only there for one night. I wish we could get our money back. Do not book this hotel they don't give refunds! Huge regret. Also, continental breakfast starts at 9 am. Ridiculous. There was an angry man who was staying in the hotel looking in peoples cars and complaining about us being in "his" parking spot. The lobby had fake Oreo cookies that tasted gross. You also have to ask them to open the pool and they meet you there. Pool closes at 8.
