The first one took place in…read more2013 when the City of Boynton Beach created a free, public art exhibit dedicated to contemporary artists creating kinetic art. The Kinetic Biennial takes place in the historic 1927 Arts and Cultural Center, around the building, on the lawn in front of City Hall and along the streets of Boynton Beach. The Biennial seeks to show how art and technology are connected with art installations that move. The Kinetic Biennial has art installations, artist and designer talks, student displays, turbine demonstrations, light projections, and choreographed motion performances with community volunteers. Live music, food trucks, artist booths, and other activities are also part of the event. I loved all of the fascinating art especially the Sisyphus table, a fine layer of sand with a two motor robot called the Sisbot that controls a metal ball along a preprogrammed track through sand that creates a beautiful pattern. I also enjoyed the Twirling Blooms, a candy colored installation of metal flowers spun by the wind in front of the Cultural Arts Center. One of my favorite installations was called Move Fast and Break Things. It's a kinetic rock throw. They made you sign a release before you could throw the rocks. It was very therapeutic watching them dent the sheet metal wall. Although the Kinetic Biennial is over for this year you can still find a number of permanent public pieces around Boynton Beach that the city has purchased for their collection.

The area also has 34 sculptures and murals to visit anytime. Kinetic Art is art that has movement using various energy resources. Creativity extends farther than a canvas and usually 3 dimensional. South Florida has many art forms to offer and this is one of my local favorites.

The galleries offer specials on work and artists have meet and greets. While eating lunch across the street I noticed the beautiful display windows of the Avalon Gallery so after I finished I had to come over and check them out. Avalon is owned by John M. Terry and Mavis L.R. Benson and they represent over 120 artists in the U.S. and Canada. The gallery is filled with beautiful artist blown glass in all price points. Glass is one of my favorite mediums so I enjoyed exploring all of the beautiful pieces. In addition to glass they also have jewelry, ceramics, lamps, furniture, and wall art. If you can't come to the gallery in person you can look at what they have available on their website but they don't sell on online. You have to contact them directly if you see something you want to purchase. They will also consult with you to find exactly what you want. You can really get the personal touch here. If you can visit I highly recommend it. You really need to see in person how these beautiful works of glass art capture the light.

You can get a package deal for $50 that includes 10 classes or else it is $10 a class. We had a water leak from the water meter main to our house and we called productive plumbing…read more(reference from next door) and spoke to Robin. She was very helpful and friendly! Same day they were able to fit us in bc it was an emergency. Manny (plumber) came over to assess the issue, gave us a price upfront and the same day they fixed the leak. Through the rain and having to dig out many roots, they were very costumer service orientated, friendly and explained the situation along the way. They cared about not leaving us without water and made a huge effort to make sure it was fixed that day and it was. We really appreciate their responsiveness and service. We'll definitely be calling them again if we have any more plumbing needs. Thank you productive plumbing!!!
